Agree on replacing the drive if unit is still OK. If looking for a cheap model I have been running a 16 channel Anran for two years without any problems. Just purchased a second one for a friend. Testing shows all OK. They can be found on Amazon and you will need a hard drive for that unit. It has a lot of features for a cheap version.

One Hard drives works, two will not?
Cat-Camera-Man replied to Cat-Camera-Man's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I will run it on one drive until I can come up with a larger power supply to test it with. Thanks for all comments. -
My DVR has two connectors on the main board for hard drives. The unit operates great with one drive. Install a second drive and the unit will not start. Both conectors are serial ATA. If I switch the cable from one drive that works to the other connector it will work there also. So both connections on the board are "live." Plug unit in with both drives connected and it starts up for a few seconds and reboots. Is this some trick with the software from the manufacturer or something else?

One Hard drives works, two will not?

I will give that a try if I can locate one around here that has that many amps. Yes, that is the power block that came with the unit. The case only has mounting screw holes for one drive so it may not have been designed for two drives. Then again with two drive connections, maybe the manuacturer sells one for two drives in a different case but still uses the same main board and a better power supply. Any thoughts on powering the second drive from a different source? Or could/would this cause problems with the two supplies not "happy" with each other? -

One Hard drives works, two will not?

Well, that is hard to say. Since the information in the manual leaves a person wondering just what was stated, it is hard to know. There is nothing in manual about adding second drive or any other devics. -
I purchased a CCTV DVR directly from a manufacturer in China. The unit does not have any name or other information on the unit. The front and the back look the same as the 16 channel Anran DVRs. Watching videos of the Anran the various menus are identical. Manual for the unit is normal China junk! Operation of unit is very good, except the Email alert part of it. I have read and checked out so many different discussions on various ways to try to make it work and nothing does. Using my email that works with this unit fails. Putting "mail.charter.net" for the SMTP server and port 25 that my email works on still errors out. I have tried the "gmail.com" attempt also and that locks up the unit. If I enter "smtp.mail.charter.net" I receive a failure to connect. If I remove the "smtp" then I receive a "username error." The username is my email address and password that have been checked and re-checked and checked again. They ARE correct. Is there any way to "check" if this function is just not working in this unit? Defective? Broke?

The 465 with Gmail finally worked. It was another number that caused the lock up. I still do not understand why my "normal" email will not work when it is using the same settings as I was attempting to use. If port 25 was blocked by ISP, the email would not work. Very odd. At least this tells me the unit is OK. Thanks

Hi, I have a PTZ connected with two wires from the RS485 adapter on the computer. This connection works fine. Now with a second PTZ camera, I have a problem: Looking at drawings on how to connect the second PTZ, brings up a thought. From the adapter A goes to A on the camera and B to B. Drawings show you should/must connect to A and B on the first camera, then go to the second. Well, if you look at the drawing, what is the difference in connecting both cameras at the adapter? In other words, there would be two wires to the first camera and two wires to the second directly off the RS485 adapter. Will this work? R.T.

Can not find in search: Should you remove Geovision software before you install the new version 8.3, or just install it? Thanks. R.T.
-
Maybe I had some luck. The only problem was some .DLL files that would not delete. 8.3 wanted to over write them and could not. Stopped install at that point. Changed the install folder from GV800 to GV803 and install went on without any problems. Program is working great.....so far... R.T.

ilkevinli, Thanks for the answer. I am now at the site and will make the attempt to remove and install. R.T.

Kensplace I got the impression from that location from the questions they asked, it looked like you should or need to be in business to download 8.3 from them. Not just a home user that does their own set up. Is that thought incorrect? R.T. Well, I guess I have my answer on the download. I was registered with them and a log in allowed the download. Installed today (some problems) and all is working now.

I came home and fired up the computer to state just what you found. I discovered that today. It is under the General tab. If "Enhance Network Security" is checked it turns off the place to check on the Mobile tab. Will be working on that tonight. Thanks for the post. It would have helped if I had not found it out this morning. R.T.

I did some research on getting my PDA to connect to the GV-800 card. It stated that you need to click on the network button, check the webcam server and a window opens. This is server set up. Then you need to click on the Jpeg tab. Then check the "create Jpeg/Gif files" Then your PDA should connect. Well, the problem here is this is grayed out. You can not turn it on. Now what? R.T.

Wow! I never thought I would ask a question that would stump the very knowledgeable people on this site. I guess it can happen. . . . Thanks for the info received. R.T.

Ports 8866 and 5511 are open. The problem is that the mobile tab info is grayed out and can not be turned on. Now what? R.T.
-
Yes, That I what I am using. I found that info in a search on this fourm. After the person asking the question and was given that info, they stated it fixed their problem. R.T.

RS485 connections
Cat-Camera-Man replied to Cat-Camera-Man's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Soundy, When I can find some time, I will do a "test connect" and see what, if any, problems I come up with. If it does work it sure would save some work in not having to climb a tower, dig into the current cameras wiring, and so on. It is worth an attempt. R.T. (P.S. I like the "bunny." Sure it is not a kitty kat?) -
RS485 connections
Cat-Camera-Man replied to Cat-Camera-Man's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
That is what I had thought would be the correct way to connect them, but was not sure. Thanks for the answer to confirm. About two months from now, when the snow and cold are gone, I will work on that second camera installation. R.T. -
Hi, I have had a GV800-4, 120Fps card in use almost two years now. Three cameras are Black and white and one is color. When viewing any one camera I can get 27 to 28 Fps over the internet. I recently changed one of the black and white cameras to color. The orginal B and W and the orginal color still give out 27 to 28 Fps. But the new color will only reach 6 Fps max. Most of the time it is 4 to 5Fps. I do not understand what could be wrong? Is there such a "thing" as a "slow" camera? The picture sure is good for a cheap color camera. Any ideas? Thanks R.T.
-
Well, I used a new, more expensive, customer's camera for a test, and this one worked just fine. 22 to 25 FPs. So it must be the cheap camera that hogs the FPS. Maybe a good reason to purchase better quality cameras. I would consider this problem closed. Thanks for all comments. R.T.
-
Ted No adjustments on the camera. FPs are about the same when on site. Each camera will show about 25 to 28 FPs. That includes the new one in question. R.T.
-
JD, No, not IP. Just a cheap 1/4" sharp dome camera. R.T.
-
Ted, Well I changed the two camera inputs to the card and have the same problem. The camera does not have any adjustments on it. You mentioned the camera may not deliver full frame rate. Is there any way to "check" that without a ton of special test equipement? Since all the settings in the Geo software are the same, it still looks like I have a cheap, "slow" camera. Possible? R.T.
