exacqVision Post Motion
cglaeser replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks for the quick response. One of the cameras has a tree branch at the very edge of view and therefore the motion window does not extend all the way to the edge of view to avoid windy moving branch false alarms. When someone walks across the field of view, the pre motion takes care of one direction, and the post motion, if available, would continue to record when walking in the other direction. I'm adding another camera from another angle to resolve this problematic tree branch, but some cameras have a post motion feature, and it would be nice if exacq supported that feature. Yes, they have a free trial that is limited to one camera at a time. I got my free trial from thewireguys on this forum, and later placed an order with same. Best, Christopher -

I installed the previous major release and upgraded to the current major release. Both the install and upgrade on Windows was both easy and quick. Best, Christopher -

Make sure there is sufficient light. Higher resolution means more pixels which means smaller pixels for same sensor size, and smaller pixels means less light collection, everything else being equal. In other words, less resolution *can* outperform more resolution in some situations. Just depends on the requirements. Sometimes less is more. Best, Christopher -
Various companies sell PTZ cameras that look like this http://www.dvrusa.com/DP-AH5600.asp Who makes this PTZ mount? It doesn't look like any of the PTZ mounts on the Pelco website. Best, Christopher

I've done this with Axis and Panasonic. Although Mobotix/Axis/Panasonic can upload to a NAS just fine, there are many important features missing from this non-NVR approach. I agree with the suggestions to go with exacqVision. You can either purchase an exacq system, or license the software and build your own. Best, Christopher -
Use Crow Daredevil or Optex PIR motion sensors to trigger the alarms. Best, Christopher

That should come as no surprise, given that lenses are round and sensors are rectangular. Best, Christopher

Where did you get the value 33%? Sensors are two dimensional and the length (e.g. 1/4", 1/3", etc) is shorthand for one side of a rectangular sensor. A 1/3" sensor is approximately twice the area of a 1/4" sensor, and a 1/2" sensor is approximately twice the area of a 1/3" sensor. One advantage of larger sensors is the ability to collect more light. Twice the area typically means twice as many photons. Best, Christopher

The newly released exacqVision 4.0 web server is quite nice. The implementation includes both a simple stripped down interface that will run on a phone's browser, and a more advanced interface that has features similar to the desktop client. Best, Christopher

exacqVision 4.0 web server

I have not tested it, but I don't think javascript is required in simple mode because they also include a refresh button. Best, Christopher -

When using the Search Window in Advanced Mode, is it possible to see the date/time a sequence was recorded? Best, Christopher -

Size works for me as expected in simple mode, but in advanced mode, while it does reduce the number of pixels, it does not reduce the size of the image, which becomes extremely pixelated when the size is very small. I'm guessing that's the behavior you are experiencing too. However, I think you can get the behavior you want by using one of the grids that has very small images. The frame rate jumps up considerably, so I think it is automatically reducing the image size to match the grid size, even when the Size percent is left at 100%. Best, Christopher -
Yes, I have used ftp with both Axis and Panasonic. The Axis implementation is relatively complete, but the Panasonic implementation can not create date/time folders, which means all files are upload to the same folder and will bring an OS to it's knees when trying to access a file among a bazillion other files. Eventually, I gave up on ftp and now use Exacq. Best, Christopher

KT&C has several bullets with Super HAD CCD II. According to documents I have reviewed, ExView has about twice the sensitivity of Super HAD in the visible spectrum and about four times the sensitivity in the near infra red spectrum. According to a press release, Super HAD CCD II has between +4 db and +7 db improvement over Super HAD. I've also seen data sheets that indicate that Super HAD CCD II has better sensitivity than ExView. So, while ExView has been a better low light choice over Super HAD in the past, these various reports and data sheets suggest that the redesigned Super HAD CCD II may be edging out ExView. I'm guessing they selected the f2 for size reasons. Can't really tell from the photo, but an f1.2 may not fit the barrel. Best, Christopher
-
Given that they have both ExView and Super HAD CCD II, would be interesting to compare the two sensor technologies. Best, Christopher
-
The KT&C has an f2 lens, which is one and a half stops slower than an f1.2. I think they also make an Ex-view version, and I thought about getting one, but would prefer an f1.2 or f1.4. Of course, if you prefer covert, then the much smaller f2 is ideal. Best, Christopher

Here's another very interesting data sheet that has a long list of sensors that includes Super HAD CCD, Super HAD CCD II (noted with a *2), and ExView HAD CCD (noted with a *3). According to this data sheet, the Super HAD CCD II has better sensitivity than both the Super HAD CCD and ExView HAD CCD. Best, Christopher
