Apparently you are contacting distributors. You need to contact retailers. Best, Christopher -
Which retail vendors sell the EH5216Lite? Google turned up B&H. Any others? Best, Christopher

Here is a sample application: I need to measure the time required to trigger two curtain PIRs placed 20 feet apart. If the time is less than several seconds, it's likely a car. If the time is more than several seconds, it's likely a person walking. There are two digital inputs, one for each PIR, and two digital outputs, one for person and one for car. Best, Christopher

What people, who said pixels? Resolving power? Who said "resolving power"? We were talking about lens resolution, which is about the ability to resolve detail. In case the Wiki link did not work, here is the definition from Wiki (the emphasis is mine). "Lens Resolution: The ability of a lens to resolve detail is usually determined by the quality of the lens but is ultimately limited by diffraction." I think you may be confusing detail with focal length, which is something entirely different. Lens X with a short focal length could have exceptional resolution (meaning exceptional detail), while lens Y with a long focal length could have poor resolution, meaning poor detail. Best, Christopher
-
Well, lenses do resolve. Lens resolution is typically defined as the ability of a lens to resolve detail. See Wiki for a more detailed description of lens, sensor, and optical resolution. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optical_resolution#Lens_resolution Best, Christopher
-
Yes, although I think it's more common to refer to them as megapixel cameras when referring to security cameras. The old adage applies, you get what you pay for. More expensive lenses are usually more expensive for a reason, which could include better at resolving detail, less dispersion, larger aperture, wider zoom range, support for larger sensor, etc, etc, etc. Best, Christopher

Everything soundy said above, but I would add that high quality lenses can resolve more detail than cheaper low quality lenses. Best, Christopher

People and Cars leaving artifacts? Why is this happening

Can you post an image? Is this at night? If so, there may be too little light for a sufficiently fast shutter speed. Best, Christopher -
HD Sanyo Cameras
cglaeser replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Have not noticed any motion blur during the day. jpeg images of moving vehicles and people during the day are fine. I expect I can reduce motion blur at night if I increase the shutter speed, but of course, at the expense of available light. I'll try some tests tonight. Best, Christopher -

The camera does support a schedule feature which I have not tested, but I don't think you can schedule the 3MP vs 1.3MP mode because it requires a camera reboot. I leave the camera in 1.3MP mode for the best possible night images, but I have not explored all possible settings and I may be missing something. Regarding h.264, I believe you are correct, the h.264 stream is 1.3MP even when the camera is set to 3MP mode. The JPEG capture mode can be set to 3MP or 1.3MP with camera reboot, but as I recall (I'll test this again tonight), the night images lose a stop in 3MP mode. Again, there may be better settings, but the motion blur at night is quite bad for the settings I posted above. I'll continue to test shutter speed vs night lighting for best performance. HD Sanyo Cameras

The Panasonic WV-NW502 is available now. I like the 502 daytime performance for at least two reasons - the day and night auto back focus feature allows the day and night focus to be set separately so that both can be in focus to compensate for any wavelength dispersion rather than splitting the difference with both out of focus. - as a photographer, looking at extreme purple fringing is annoying, and the 502 images are quite nice in that regard for a megapixel security camera. Best, Christopher -
Are these available in single quantity? Best, Christopher

I've been testing my Panasonic 502 for a couple of weeks and overall I am pleased with the camera. Given your enthusiasm for the night performance, I want to compare my settings to make sure I'm getting the best performance possible. My settings include: Image Capture Mode = 1.3 megapixel Super Dynamic = Off Adaptive Black Stretch = Off Back Light Compensation = Off Light Control Mode = Outdoor Scene AGC = On High Auto Slow Shutter = Off (1/30s) Level = High Red Gain = Default Blue Gain = Default DNR = High Stabilizer = Off Chroma Gain Level = Default Aperture Level = Default Pedestal Level = Default Are these settings similar to yours? If you get really serious, use a solid state disk drive. Best, Christopher -
Have a location with the following requirements: - outdoor dome to be mounted under eave - PTZ (10x optical zoom or greater) - low light day/night - would prefer LUX performance of Exview HAD - IP or CCTV is fine The Samsung SCC-C6325 is an outdoor dome 10x optical PTZ with 1/4" Super HAD. The data sheet is at http://samsungsecurity.com/files/bbs/catalog/2009-05/SCC-C6323-6325-7325%28Eng%29_090226.pdf Would prefer Exview HAD over Super HAD for one more stop of light, but I have not found anything that compares to the SCC-C6325. Do you know of any cameras that are comparable in form factor and performance? Best, Christopher

Camera UL listing
cglaeser replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Read it again. No equipment failed; just some inspector required UL listing. In California, we say this or that "failed" to pass inspection, or simply "failed" inspection. Regarding the equipment that, pick one of the following: 1) failed inspection, or 2) did not pass inspection or 3) the inspector did not get paid enough, or 4) whatever you call it in your neck of the woods, was it low voltage? Are there any ultra low light cameras (e.g. something comparable to the Samsung SHC-745 with 1/2" Exview) that are also IP? Best, Christopher
-
I would like to put the ultra low light SHC-745 box camera in an under eave dome. Two questions: 1. Which dome would you recommend for a 1/2" box CCTV camera? The SHC-745 is about 4.5" long, plus lens. 2. Is there a pan/tilt dome that is designed for 1/2" box cameras? Best, Christopher

Ultra low light IP cameras?
cglaeser replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks for the link. They don't mention the shutter speed, which usually means they used a very slow DSS but are too embarrassed to include it in the spec. I wish the FTC would step in and put a stop to the practice of publishing lux values without shutter speeds. Best, Christopher -

Mobotix camera question

Any word on what the improvements will be? Best, Christopher -
I think he was saying that 0.1 cam with IR will do better than 0.01 Exview without IR. At least, that's the way I read it. According to sensitivity charts I have reviewed, the improved sensitivity of Exview compared to other sensors increases as the spectrum moves from visible to IR. Best, Christopher

Ultra low light IP cameras?
cglaeser replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I do the same with Axis 223M and Panasonic WV-NW502S. The latest firmware release from Axis added date/time folders, so the camera keeps everything organized on the NAS automatically. Sweet. The 502 has better low-light, but otherwise the programming features of the Axis are more robust. Those Mobotix images do look nice. Will be interesting to see what they do with the next version, which is reportedly due out soon. Best, Christopher
