I got one for you guys to rack your brain on. We just installed 32 cameras with coax out from the cameras. We used video baluns bnc/to terminal. From their we obviously went cat 5 to the dvr location. From there another video balun (terminal back to bnc) and from their into the dvr. Ok so 30 cameras came up. So the 2 that where not working I disconnected from the dvr and hooked into my cable tester. It says "volts, and Pass ID# " which means that it is getting a video signal. Both said that. So i hooked back into my test monitor. Nothing! Tested voltage from the power supply and at the camera location. Both said the correct power needed. Went back to the recorder changed out the baluns with new ones and still no video. Cant figure it out. I even tested the cameras at the location with my test monitor and got video. But at the recorder, nothing! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. isaac

Jesus christ! Some of what you said is true but most is your opinion. Latency is not that bad. Hell I on a daily basis work with a client that is one of the largest electrical companies in the US and I have to Remote Desktop in to a computer at their headquarters to get access to the video at the substations and it is not that bad. We are talking milliseconds. Second you can get better overall quality if you have the capacity on your network with IP megapixel cameras. End of story. I have yet to see any HD analog cameras. Not saying there is not any just have not seen any. And if all cameras are analog andrt all the analog ca just being converted to digital why would someone not just convert all the cameras at the head end to "convert" to megapixel. Its because the mechanism used to capture the image is yes analog however the processing of the image at that point is digital and not just converted. Isaac Systems Engineer II

I did not read all the reply's. So excuse me if I repeat some information. When you are wanting to put your entire system on the network there are many things you need to do first. First you need to find out exactly what you can partition of for the video system. In terms of bandwith what do you have available? 1G? 100M, 10M, 100K? Ok maybe that last one was a stretch but you get the point. Buying all the nicest cameras in the world does not do you a bit of good if you do not have the means to transport the video. Once you get an idea of the amount of bandwith you have available you can start to figure out exactly what that means in terms of # of cameras, resolution, frame rate, and so on and so forth. You also need to get some kind of threshold of what type of quality that you need at a minimum to get the results that you are looking for. That way you start to make out a system level synthesis and operational scenarios. Hope that gives you a starting point Hope that gives you a starting point t.

Back in September there was an event at one of our locations. These two girls came in and stole 12,000 dollars worth of jewelry and merchandise from a high end womans store. Well we got all this on video (some of you have seen it). And these girls were put on the news and identified and arrested 2 days later. Well turns out these girls have been in prison before and are trying to keep from getting sent back for a long time. They hired one of the best defense attorneys around here. He does not take a case for less than 20,000. And I am sure it is alot more than that to go to a jury trial. This guy has never lost a case. And I am sure is going to fight pretty hard to keep that record. Well if he loses this case it will be great for us because the prosecutor is pretty much going to use me and this video as the main part of her case. So if we get guilty the news will be all over this. They usually cover his court trials almost every time. In past court cases I usually just briefly explain the system and then get the heck out of there. This one I would like to invest my time in seeing as how the return could be good. Well what I would like to ask you guys is What are some questions she should ask me about the whole system, process, and anything else that might help a guilty verdict? Also any other suggestions on anything else would be appreciated. Here is some quick specs on the system 32 Color Dome camera 2 16 channel Mpeg-4, DVR, 480 fps (capability) (video was recorded at 15 frames per second mace 16 channel rw By the way appreciate the equipment kandcorp. I believe that was the last sale before he left. but then again I dont think it will be the last Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. If you want I can send you the video. Just email or pm me.

Has anyone installed these bosch auto domes with the auto tracking and auto zoom? That sounds pretty much like something that I need for an application. Just wondering how well it works in the field

Anyone used laser illuminators yet? I had not even heard of these until recently.

I am selling a still in the box axis 233d ip camera starting on ebay for $99.00 I know that if you post a link that the mods will delete it so the user name is swoop737. And it ends on july 27th at 7:00pm. When you do a search for axis 233d click advanced search and search titles and descriptions. I have a bunch of surveillance equipment from my old company that i need to get out of my house. And so am selling for very little. Have a good one.

intelligent software has a long way to go as analytics right now just suck. -

testing analytics for false positives?
jisaac replied to jhonovich's topic in General Digital Discussion
i have a good amount of experience with analytics. Just keep in mind that its never plug and play like they sell it to you. Ya what would be a good test is someone standing real close to the camera,a bright light shining into the camera, while a large amount of dust or smoke partially filled the camera view also. An analytics based system needs to be designed from the camera in, instead of designing from the recorder to the camera. Its all about your fov. Analytics inside compared to analytics to an outside cameras is another major jump in how many false alarms you can expect. got to run. Have a good one. -
Has anyone ever installed a point to point/multipoint wireless lan through an electrical substation? What kind of affect would you think that would have on the IP broadcast? (I mean straight through the middle of it)
-
i have been researching and testing solutinos for this. Indigo vison has encoders that can put 10fps 4 cif video out at a bit rate of 32k. DPS telecom has a device that has a switch and a modem built in. Also it has alarm inputs. so it is possible ot get good video over a dial up. believe it or not.
-
security monster is a nut dont listen to him! Just kidding. Ya just focus it after dark. If you can get it clear. Then you had a back focus issue.

I need an auto dialer that will dial out over a standard telephone line. Or it could be a modem & router that will dial out establish a connection and then allow me to transmit a video stream over the phone line (hints the router/switch). Dont worry about the low bandwith issue over telephone line. Already have that issue solved. I just need something to establish a connection as the line is not a active line. Then once connection established switch to the router/switch. Any ideas?
