Fishing Cable over beams in warehouses, quickly

man we use the telepole and z tip combo all the time. You get two people 40 feet apart and the can easily just extend and then other one hook very fast. Well worth the money for the poles -
man you know I actually counted our use of j hooks a month. We are putting in aboutr 400 a month now. Goes to show you how much we like. They are great because you create a suspended channel for your cable and makes it extremely easy to pull around multiple corners and never put strain on the cable.

go get a tennis ball and drill a hole all the way through it. Then get some pull wire or strong rope rope and feed it through the ball. Tie it off. Or pull the wire back to the side of the ball where you feed it into and make the end touch the wire going into the ball. Super glue the hell out of it. then just send the ball over your beams and then tie your pull wire to your cable and pull it. simple enough. -

every system in place has ways it can be very quickly disabled, breached, broken, or in same altered to a state other than its intended set up. You guys are arguing over the obvious. Well how often is the power cord available to every criminal that wants in? If it is then who ever installed it should be shot. -

ok after I logged in I saw the photos. I definitly say to upgrade the cams and get a professional recorder. Man you can get much better cameras and a much better overall system than what you are getting from your current system. You say you want some techniques to get a better images of criminals. this is how I can best explain how to get better images from your cams in the shortest amount of words possible. You need to break down your cameras into 3 functions/categories. No camera should attempt to do more than one of these functions. 1. General Activity-overall actions of persons on the property 2. Identification- used to iprovide detailed info on persons physical charactersitics for ID. 3. LPR- License Plate Recognition If you need to be able to identify suspects of the video the shots need to be close up. We like to try to have the persons face fill up 1/3 of the shot. The good news about shots like these is that you dont usually have to get numerous shots like these. A way to get your up close and personal shots is to identify the locations on your property that people have to pass to get on or off the property. Those can be your ID shots. Get close and get em horizontally aligned with the camera as possible. That way a hood or hat or shadow will not ruin your ID's. Vandal Proof dome cameras with 3 axis mounting capabilities are excellent for this because you get those thing right in their face. And you dont have to worry about a pissy thief with a tendacy for violence. With that being said your G.A. shots can be pretty easy to get. Well my dinner just arrived and it smells pretty dang good. So I will have to finish this reply some other time in the future. Have a good one. -

no the frame rate will not in itself increase the resolution. I am not familure with that dvr and cameras. But an increase in frame rate only increases the total number of frames that are recorded per second. The resolution is totally differrent aspect of the recording process. I personally would say that the quality and manufacturer should be brought up. But then again I tend to only use the high end manufacturers. What it boils down to is 1) how much are you willing to spend 2) What is more important to you? Quality of System or Lowest total cost One thing to keep in mind is your system is only as good as its weakest link. So you definilty need to have the quality cams that match the quality in the recorder. Dont get 540 line resolution if your recorders playback is 320x240. -
Is anyone else not getting all of the notifications of topic replys emails? I am getting about 50% of the notifications I should be.

Wow, this could be a very long thread. But will try to keep it short. The main concern that most prospects have in the whole way using their systems is probably the fact that they are relieving almost all responsibility on human analysis of the video. Typically a set of guards would actively watch monitors and try to scan this overwhelming amount of information in front of them and try to find any activity that is not ordinary. We all know how effective this usually is. After a few minutes the guard has become a paid day dreamer. So the transition that you have to get the end users to see and be comfortable with is the fact that they wont need to have these guards trying to watch cameras and detect any thing od. People just have a heard time feeling comfortable enough to take that jump without allot of explanation and demonstration. An analytics system is only as good as the cameras viewing angles installation. You have to really cater your whole cam's views to how it can be interpreted by the analytics.

first off can you post some pics for us to see? also you have made on of the most common mistakes made in setting a surveillance system. You have your cameras set to the widest angle. Although this is great for seeing what is going on, it is not good for identification. Let me show you some examples. here is the standard in other words you want to have the persons face fill up as much as possible. When you have a wide angle shot the persons face (object of identification, typically) is just a small % of the entire camera shot. So the amount of resolution lines that makes up the persons face is extremely low. Thats why its a good idea for identificaiton critical camera shots it best to have the persons face be as large as you can make it. Typically your cameras for ID are only used for getting faces and should not be reliad on to cover anything else as the field of view is very narrow. here is a good real world example. Suspect #1 standing on the blocks ( my daughter) -
I got a question that is probably going to be interesting to read the answers. How do you run your wire for your cameras? Do you start at your power supply and feed the wire out to the cameras? Or do you start at the farthest camera loccation and feed it back to the recording location? Also do you run ALL the wire first and after you are done do you hook all the cameras up at once? Or do you do them one at a time, Hooking each up as you get each run connecting camera and recorder? Tell me how you guys do it

how much are you guys paying for 1000ft of rg-59 siamese coax? The going rate to buy it locally here is $216.99. I got a call from a guy from a cabling company who sold me 5 rolls of rg-59u siamese coax for 176.00 a roll shipped! That was not a bad deal at all.

I think that I fall somewhere right in the middle of pro dvr and pro nvr. About the time I always think that one way of setting up systems is the way to go is when I learn a hard lesson. One thing we all have to remember is that its not about us. (those of use who are actually not end users). Its about the person in front of you wanting A systems. Not a particular system Its about what fits their specific needs. and we cant say that one particular system is better than the others as every application is different. So in saying that why cant you guys see that both of you guys are right. In certain applicaitions one type of system is better than another. Because what it all really boiles down to is providing the best possible system that fits the customers needs for the least amount of money. You can design the best system but if they cant afford it then you loose. You can also design a system that is much more affordable but not what they need then we all loose. -
Ok guys I need your help. If you guys have any really bad camera shots that you would not mind letting me possible use for one of my tv commecials that we are producing. Pretty much I am going to start the commercial out with the old surveillance cameras that people are used to. And then cut to some extremely good shots. Well the problem is I dont have but a few really bad shots. And if you have some really blurry, bad, images then please post them and I will download the shots that I want to use. Also if you have any really bad installation photos those could be used also. Appreciate it!

Well this is a good example of how just because some is in the IT department doesnt mean they can do cctv. Just had to say that. What I would recommend is hiringi a professional in the industry. Chances are you wont do that. So in that case: Rca to bnc conncections have nothing to do with it. The problem is most likely that your dvr is looking for a video signal of 140 IRE composite. With not much of a threshold. Has to be pretty close. Well a monitor does not. It can a alot less to display something. The problem is most likely the camera is not getting enough power/to many breaks in the cable/or something else with the cabling involved.

sure did. Which proves my point. When I used to sell mace I had a hard time selling any high end systems. Cut them out, only sold high end systems and sold 2.2 million last year. -

looks like a bunch of black kids. age ranging between 12-17. Some of them girls. or just a few flaming homosexuals that are pretty young those kids knew exactly what they were going for. They had been there recently. Should most definitly watch back through the video of the days leading up to this event and looks for kids that match those on the video.

thats what I think alot of peoples problem is that they feel that what they are selling is exactly that.....TOYS. Of course people are going to want to pay 500 or 2000 for toys. We install 10,000 to 20,000 dollar residental systems 3 or 4 times a month that never get above 4 cameras each. There is a huge market for high end residentals. You just cant be associated with cheap systems if you want to tap it. -
this is what I do. I measure of each run. And round each run up 100ft. so obviously no run is anything but in 100ft incremants. then take the total amount of feet and hours I personally think it will take our guys. then I multiply that by 30%. Then multiply the number of labor hours by our hourly rate. And also multiply the number of feet of cable by our going rate (depends on the going rate of cable). Thats keeps me pretty accurate.
