  1. I will tell you what is most likely the problem is that you have a ground loop on one or more of your cameras. The dvr has a threshold that it can accept on the video level. Well a ground loop will make that signal go way above the threshold and as a safety feature will shut off. does your dvr shut off with nothing connected? if not then its the cameras connected having induced voltage.

    whats causing this

hopefully this is YOUR bedroom. kidding
  3. panasonic has several models that have auto tracking. http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?displayTab=O&storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=99045&catGroupId=14471&modelNo=WV-NS202&surfModel=WV-NS202 http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?displayTab=O&storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=95787&catGroupId=14470&surfModel=WV-CW964 http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?displayTab=O&storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=88338&catGroupId=14470&surfModel=WV-CS954 it is actual analytics that is used in the cameras. Pretty much the camera is constantly looking at the background. And so when that background changes it then will put that area in which it changed into the center of the fov. as the object moves it constantly centers the object. It works extremely well.
  4. poe is great but most people dont have poe switches. It will be nice when they do. Extremely nice.

    visio CCTV stencil

also alot of manufacturers provide you with visio shapes.
  8. The Panasonics auto tracking has gotten pretty good. I like with their new ip camera that you can set the preset views. Then within that view have 4 different areas in which it can auto track or alarm or ftp the video to a station or whatever the hack you want it to do. And then on the next preset you can do totally different areas and actions. So you can cut down on a lot of the movement that is irrelevant and only auto track on key areas.

    Earthing.....

your cams are suppose to be grounded at your head end. If you double ground it then you will be very prone to lighting strikes as the camera will be the path of the current overflow. Cameras should not float. They will be grounded at your head end and any other ground will also give you a ground loop.
  10. This is purely a question on how would you cover this area. Open for suggestions. the perimeter is 3,148 feet all the way around I am specifically talking about the center lot. (not the buildings on the far left across the thin tree line). He is wanting to cover this area for general activity. I obviously wanting to use ptz's. These 4 areas are 4 different businesses. the big one is his own trucking business and lot. And the other are businesses that he leases to. But he still wants to cover the entire lot. There is no network between the buildings. its about 250 feet from the big buildiing to the other buildings.
  11. i am telling you, it is a gift from God. Just this last design I have been working on where it involves putting some ASIM PIR detectors the curtain kind on a perimeter. Man I did that whole design in 3 times less time it would have taken me if I had to go out there and measure it myself. And I do that on almost every proposal I do ( use google earth somehow. ) what is fun is for the people who have never seen that before is to let them believe for a little while that it is showing images in real time. Man they will walk outside and try to find themselves on the google earth images for hours!
  12. shoot have I tried this? Man we live by Google earth over here. Especially for outdoor shots and such. Heck I have got every single one of our customers locaitons set on my places and can do a really cool lonnggggggggggggggggggg tour of all our customers. My wife says I am a google earth nerd. And she is right! GOOGLE EARTH IS EXCELLENT FOR ME!
  13. here is another piece of advice dont get your equipment of off ebay and then measure its effectivenessl. not a fair judgement for the actual manufacturer.

    NewDay Night cameras look snowy

now you can do what you want. If your objective is to see the get away car pull up then dont change it. but it those shots are hard to tell any type of descriptive shots of the person or car. So it really does not tell you much in review. But it all boils down to YOUR objectives.

How would you design this system

this was a post from april 20th. Not sure what happeaned to picture but it was a wide trucking storage lot. We ended up using a diamond blade saw and cut the concrete and hardwired ptz's on the end of the property.
  16. visio use it all the time. you can do everything from site layouts to wiring diagrams
  17. you will probably get a bunch of false alarms. I would suggest getting the optex outdooor motion detector with voice program. You can have it both alert the cashier plus tell them any customize voice warning you want. They work excelllent and not expensive at all.

    Car burgulars cought on camera

ya your crazy. If i was you I would have just called the police and let them catch them in the act. Or atleast approached them with my gun already pulled. There was this one time when I had to adjust a camera for a location that was gettting hit constantly. It was about 10:4r 5 pm. So I was on the other side of the property and saw them coming on so I called the police department. I hid on the other sdie of the building while they were stealing several riding lawn mowers. ( hey were in arkansas) . And the police were there in 5 minutes. And when they arrested these 3 masked thiefs they found pistols on each one of them! From then I have carried a concealed weapon.

    What do you guys use?

heck ya this great. I can do some sweet things with my powerpoint presentations. oh man my wife is already jealous! "I am sorry did you say something honey?"
  21. I was wondering if any of you guys use any screen recording software. If so what kind? We are finishing up a pretty good size project that will have about 22 different users that we have to train. (Security guards) yippee So I want to try to make this as easy for them as possible so this is a ONE TIME THING! Wondering if you guys use any screen recording software so I can create a video of us just going through the steps of using the system so that when we have the training session I can just play it through a PowerPoint over a projector. Also what type of screen capture software? FYI "not necessarily looking for trial software"

  24. just because i am an idiot and to for reference so i dont get confused with all rows and what not lets use this a quick reference I really dont think that it is the iris level of the camera. To me I think that the number 4 camera has alot more demand contrast wise than any others. Look at how much of the shot of number 4 is dark and how much is bright. Pretty close to half. Now look at camera 6 it has the convience of looking from inside the darker side down the farthest possible lenght of the dark side of the contrasted view. So about 65%-70% of the cameras shot has no significant contrast changes. Until you get to the far top right corner. see what I am saying? Camera 4 is going across a bright side into the darker side and back across into the light side at the far end of the shot. But camera camera 6 is just looking at a pretty easy shot until you get to the contrasted area on the right side. I dont think it is so much the iris. Now the color reproduction may be a different story. Look at the color of your house and compare with other shots. Looks wierd.
