Pool reflection Issues.....is Auto Iris needed? What is it?
jisaac replied to DeathtoToasters1's topic in Security Cameras
why dont you try to to put one of the exact same cameras from the other locations and put it in that one problem area. Then check and see if you are still getting the same issues from the shot. That is a pretty demanding shot of a standard camera. Or try taking the camera down and taking it inside and set it up in normal to low light conditions. If you have an auto iris camera that is working properly then when it goes back into the area of bright light it will check the video level and adjust accordingly. if not well then you need a RMA -
WDR camera for dark room with bright light sources.
jisaac replied to rpogge's topic in Security Cameras
Its not that your sun is more intense its the fact that its looking right almost directly down at a area of contrast. One is bright and one is dark. So you can usually have one of two ways. 1: The bright side is viewable while the dark is extremely dark. 2: The dark side is viewable but the light side is bleached. its a ptz by the way -

WDR camera for dark room with bright light sources.
jisaac replied to rpogge's topic in Security Cameras
I was creating a comparison of wdr for a presentation and thought you guys might want to see it. that is not a actual cameras view angle on a system. Just pointed it there for comparison as it was a good example of contrast with a perfect line of dark and bright. now i got to run because I am going to be late for this presentation!!!! -
Why do these look like this?
jisaac replied to kandcorp's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
i dont know they for some reason dont state anything about what waveform it outputs. As a general rule of thumb if it does not state that it is a true waveform output then it is probably a sqaure waveform. But i could not find anything on their website about output. I would call them and ask them specifically. here is short help full link. http://www.minutemanups.com/support/pwr_un10.php -
What should I choose Pelco DX8100 or Panasonic WJ-HD316A
jisaac replied to karnos's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I have extensive experience with both of these. The pelco dx8100. I would have to say great for a local LAN set up. Great in all theory and practicality. Horrible in application. They seemed to be good for about 6 months and then they are the sole reason we had to create an addendum and up our monthly service maintenance with the air base. Panasonic is a great unit. Loads of options. You can keep it simple with the thing. Or you can get real deep into all the different possibilities. I would suggest you go to Panasonics web site and go through the interactive training session via the web. And also go to pelco's web site and look at that their web training on the dx8100. One other thing about the Panasonic is that it is an embedded dvr that is extremely similar to the options of the pc based dvr's but still being embedded. Oh ya and the proprietary compression. -
I dont know about lcd's but I know that with the plasma's the cctv ones have a significant difference in contrast ratio and look 100 times better.

WDR camera for dark room with bright light sources.
jisaac replied to rpogge's topic in Security Cameras
just a note. WDR cameras are not only good at just pointing towards windows. But any camera shot where there is a significant amount of contrast difference. Just regular outdoor cameras could benefit alot from wdr technology. Or when the lighting is from behind someone. We all have seen how that can ruin a camera shot. -

RG59 BNC Compresion Connectors
jisaac replied to Secure_It_Video's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
the compression connections you have to strip perfectly. I mean exactly the measurments that the instructions say. You will get used to it and it will become second nature. One good thing about the compression is you know you made a 100% connection or 0%. there is no 50%. Its all or none -
Why do these look like this?
jisaac replied to kandcorp's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
first of check for ground lopp as stated. Tell them to power down the whole system dvr and cameras and make sure the cable is connected at either the camera end or the dvr end. Then get a multimeter and measure for low voltage ac. anything over 1.0v can cause problems. but not usually lines that look like that. Could be interference. ask them if they are using are using a ups on any part of the system. If so replace the ups from one that has a square waveform to one with a sine wave form output. -
MPEG-4 plugin for Panasonic WV-NM100 IP camera?
jisaac replied to Nortonics's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
contact panasonic tech support and they willl send you one. psditech@us.panasonic.com 1-800-528-6747 -
yes definitly you have a backfocus issue. But also the number 2,3,4 look like they are color cameras. The number one camera should definitly not look like that. But thats one of the gambles you take when you get used cams

anytime I involve the press with anything I will call the local news departments and ask for my name and air time in exchange for the exclusive. It works everytime. If you just hope they will use your name then most of the time they wont. Learned that lesson the hard way. ex. http://www.fox16.com/common/mediacenterV2/dayport_components/template_components/videoNav.aspx?searchFlag=true&navCatId=&search=sherwood+break+ins#top click on the sherwood break ins link -
Do we need to recable a CCTV System after a period of time?
jisaac replied to chewingyu's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
intermentent transmission problems are the worst. But if you get a good multimeter and measure your resistence on the cable it should give you a good idea of the issue. How long are these cable runs? How many breaks are in them? When measuring resistence in your cable you should be able to tell if the cable is an issue. If your somewhere around 100 ohms then your going to have problems. Try measuring the resistance first and post your results. And we can help you from there. -

Tricks of the Trade - For the Video Installer - Part 2 of 5
jisaac replied to rapid's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
i use a ball and chain the ones with the beads not the links. Drop that from the top of the head board the wall then cut a hole in the wall and use a magnetic flexible piece that you just wiggle in the wall and it finds the chain. pretty easy. -

Is there things to avoid when running cables to the cameras?
jisaac replied to osity's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
one thing to be careful and you can run into when running emt undet ground and having the emt connecting 2 buildings is having ground bounce of electric overflowing current and taking your cams out with no hesitation. -
WDR camera for dark room with bright light sources.
jisaac replied to rpogge's topic in Security Cameras
another thing that is not mentioned very much about wdr cameras are what is its acutal dynamic range ? Is the wdr of one wdr camera the same as another wdr camera? of course not. Some of the cheaper wdr cameras have 32x pixel based dynamic range Some of the mid range wdr cameras have 64x pbdr And cameras along the leaders like the SDIII has 128x pbdr So dont choose a camera just because it says wdr. by the way panasonic is now releasing their SDIIII line! oh ya. Got get a hold of that one. -
Is there things to avoid when running cables to the cameras?
jisaac replied to osity's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
well i know in arkansas the code requires that you not run parallel with ac wires unleast their is 18 inches of space. But besides that if you do you can get some interference. So it is always better to stay as far as possible away from them. I believe personally its always better to stay as far was and as isolated from any other 3rd party equipment and wiring as possible for everything. That way you systems functions entirely within itself without any factors. (not talking about hooking up or connecting to other equipment) -
