thats pretty funny to answer your question yes i have installed a wdr pano dome. They dont have the sdIII in the dome but they do have the sdII. The difference is the sdII has 64x pixel based dynamic range. And the SdIII has the 128x. The dome also does not have auto back focus. Which is pretty neat. But if you set it up with welders glass or a neutral density filter then you should have no problem. (but you know that). The domes actually do mount flush up against a ceiling tile very well. The way you have to do it is a good idea. The back of the camera has a black section that goes into an electrical box. So if your mounting it from a drop ceiling you can suspend the electrical box from the ceiling/rafter/or whatever by way of conduit and it mounts flush up against the drop ceiling but suspended by the conduit/box. Ya and the base on the other side of the tile with the camera on the opposite would immediatly crush that ceiling tile. Those are some of the heaviest standerd vp cameras I have ever seen. I have not had any weather related issues. I have a policy that we ALWAYS use the rubber backing and also silicone any entrances or knockouts. But have not had an issue with them and in the last 365 days have put in 392 of of the sdII vp domes. So cant complain. Now how weather proof is the box camera? I would say not very much. Just kidding you included the box camera in that question.

here is a few pics from a recent residental installation. those pics are from before I told them to go back and get the housing out of the pics. WDR cameras are great. In those pics the camera shot would be either really dark in some areas or really washed out. I like the WDR's they give you the ENTIRE picture

I know you probably know this by now but for future people DONT BUY FROM EBAY! Number 2 get a panasonic ptz. Excellent domes. Buy it from a dealer of panasonic. Not ebay. So in the instance it does not work you can take it back. Sorry to hear about your frustration

man i have got a ton of new videos lately. guy steals bear at 8 in the morning and get punked by the store owner. farm equipment business gets burglerized 9 times in the last month! you have got to make your money. People have no problem paying it when I show them application photo's. I have been selling alot of extreme cameras lately so I guess when you go from selling a vp ir dome for 1500 then a wdr camera for 1000 seems in exspensive. by the way what is up with extremes month and a half build time? they have been lagging lately.

shoot just jumped on this thread. Man if you guys are not willing to pay the price for the panasonic then man you guys are cheap! Because the panansonic is so worth it. Man ever since I started selling them they have been so easy to sell even tothe people that were real price conscious at first. I think the panasonic camera could be sold for more. I would pay more if I had to. I resell the dang things for about 1000 dollars anyway. Not counting lens or labor. And people will pay fror quality if they see the value. Give it a shot you wont be disappointed.

not to much is an opinionated answer. What percent? Also did you say 2 fps? Well dang. Definitly need to up that.

at the point in which the license plate is largest on the monitor how much would you say ( % wise ) does the license plate take up in the monitor? also what are you recording it on? what is the resolution and fps?

well they are prettty easy to use. Just dont use the auto back focus primarily. Set up the camera just as if it was a normal camera with manual back focus adjustments. Then let the auto back focus adjust itself when lighting changes. It will work the best that way. Also take advantage of the adjustment on the BW presets. Otherwise dont pass up the oportunity to wow your customer with the WDR in comparison to any other camera. It will make them want more.

the one thing about extreme is dont be in a hurry. Because you will learn the meaning of patience.

go with the extreme. You will be frustrated and disappointed with anything else

oh ya but the actual motion detector works great suprisingly.

I know there have been some topics with people asking about the difference in the fujinon d/n apsherical lens. So here is an example example 1: 5mm~50mm varifocal lens example 2:2.8mm-8mm d/n aspherical

ya those lens are not exspensive at all. Especially when you look at the cost of the lens in comparison to the total cost of the system. They are a small cost but a critical choice as you can see in the pics below. Those are both almost at the widest shot they would do. Ya that is a pano with external IR. the panasonic are great with Ir. [/code]

Are you talking about the housing/camera/mount/lens packs? No I have not tried those. Mainly because I like the pelco housings and have a ton of them on hand. But is the glare coming of off the glass on the front of the housing? Or is it coming from a glare some other place? The 484's have excellent sensitivity for IR's. They are excellent for IR's. I would defintily suggest the Fujinon aspherical day/night lens though. Makes a huge difference.

I would recommend a camera with wide dynamic range or if it is getting to dark then just use a bw camera
