Client robbed night after install, police unable to use...
jisaac replied to TMJALARMSNATE's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
yes business is extremely fierce. And there are a lot of companies that provide very cheap or the marketing term "affordable" systems. You have to keep in mind that people dont have a problem paying good money for stuff that they see the VALUE in. Keyword VALUE. If they dont think its worth their money then they most definitely wont buy it. So there are two options. 1) you can propose the cheap systems and hope you’re the bid is the lowest. 2) you can stand out from everyone else and provide the SOLUTIONS that are effective. Back when I owned my company one of the first things I used to say the very first conversation I would have with people was that I was going to be most likely twice as expensive as everyone else. There is a HUGE market for cheap system. However there is also a HUGE market for expensive and EFFECTIVE systems that do the job. People have a need. They request bids from companies. If no company shows that their product is a real solution that meets the customers needs then the customer will choose the lowest bid. Why not? All the company's at that point are selling the same thing. So the cheapest system would be the thing to do. However if you have a need and buy a product that does not meet the need, what is it worth? You see people pay for things that meet their needs. To sum it. You provide an effective solution and show the client that what you provide fulfills the customer’s needs. You will have no problem selling systems! -

1400 dollar system is cheap regardless of any system you put it. The cost to be in business alone shoudl make your cost of installing systems way more than that. The absolute cheapest 4 camera system i ever sold was no less than $6,500.00. And looking back on it I should have either charged more for that one or said forget it in general. -

one way you have to look at is this. If the person who is selling this system also includes at the time of sale a more expensive option, and the end user opts for the cheapy. Well then it's the customers fault. He chose to save money over ensuring a quality product. Most everyone knows on here that I am not one to advocate the installation of cheap systems. However at some point you have to realize that no matter what. It will never be the quality that they see on "CSI". And so no matter they wont be as pleased as they think they will be when buying the system. So if they are offered a recommendation of a premium system and opt for the cheap system. Well then its there own damn fault. Its a great time to slip in the suddle "I TOLD YOU SO" (JUST KIDDING. THAT NEVER GOES WELL) -
What kind of wireless security cameras are most popular?
jisaac replied to leigh's topic in Security Cameras
There are many manufacturers that are wireless trasmitters and receivers so yes you can get external transmitters. Cheap???.....dont! No you are not limited to 2.4 and 5.8 Some other commonly used frequencys are 5.3, 4..9, and 900mhz. Anothing higher than 5.8 and you are in the licensed band. Which is do able. I deal alot with that now. However your going to be looking at components in the excess of 15-20K a piece. Before you get into swapping out transmitters and such what you need to do is complete a wireless site suvey. That way you know what frequencys are being used. You can avoid alot of headache by doing this. But if you can keep it wired! its not as simple as the wireless company manufacturers marketing department makes it seem! -

I will be the one to say it. Have you ever heard the phrase "junk in junk out"??? Here is the key. Dont install junk and you wont receive junk. Simple. -
Does anyone know of a small AC line conditioner that can go out in a NEMA enclosure out on a pole? Alot of UPS have it built in however I am not looking for a UPS. Just a indipendent AC line conditioner. Any ideas? IF you know of one please list the model # and a place to buy. Thanks

they are usually hand in hand. I am not saying I cant have AVR. Its impossible to get a line conditioner without a avr (i think) However I primarily need a way to condition in the input of ac. I need these types of features Balanced Pi, Wide Band Input Filter Differential & Common Mode Protection 100 KHz to 125 MHz; 55 db Attenuation Ferro-resonant transformer filtering Isolated winding interference & harmonic rejection
-
not really needing VR but a ac line condition/noise regulators or whatever term people use

ya i will be designing some of these into some of our new systems. I am interested to see these in action.

One time i read a topic that was posted where people put there input on a site survey form or general info on what to gather on a site survey. can anyone find that link?

Hey watch the show "most shocking" tonight on the court tv network. If anyone can guess which video came from me then they will win! Win what? probably a large congradulations from me but it will still be fun to see if anyone can guess. security monster you dont count. and dont help someone cheat! So lets see you try. ps they will re run it throughout the night.
-
well i already deleted the video from my computer however i am suppose to get a copy of the show(s) (was not the first most shocking epidsode with some of my video on it). once i get those i will post the video clips from the show.
-
Well actually there was a topic on site surveys that was created on the forum several months ago. and i was trying to find that.
-
ah man they said my original city. So it will be easy to guess.

Ya, you see the funny thing is that my old laptop started to shock me when I placed it on my lap. ya go figure. So I called dell and they said they would have to replace it. So after a day or so I hear from them that they dont make the d810 anymore and that they would have to give me my full amount back that I paid for my d810 and I could use it to get a new computer. So heck that was pretty cool. So I had a $3,410.00 credit. Well so when I started to customize my laptops there was alot of additional things I wanted to add. So then I start to think "ya know? I am going to get one for my wife so she will quit using mine. And also I was thinking hell why not get another one. So that I can have one for work and one for fun. Man do you know how much that blueray DVD burner upgrade was? like $400. I got that on one of my computers. What I will use it for I dont know. But thought it might come useful one day. Ya and about dropping it that’s why I get that accident insurance. 149 dollars covers any accidents is a no brainer for me. Especially me. Since I am usually pretty rough on everything I own. But on the vista xp issue. I thought about it for a while. But I also figured that the laptops hopefully can run it without to many issues. if I do have too many issues I will just load xp back on them.

i would just go with a vandal proof dome. You can mount it on its back. You can use a panasonic wv-cw484 vandal proof dome and it has a dehumidifing device built in. Also if you dont want to do that you can use their vandal proof wall/pole/corner mount. The only way to get this thing down would be to take out the section of the wall that comes with it. your going to have a hard time "preventing" theft. Because if you double cover the area then they just will wear a mask.

cat 5 for rs-485 data (you will need 2 pairs)

yes you will be able to control the dvr entirely from the 650 controller on the first floor. by the way the 650 controller is one kick ass controller.

rory did i hear you say that guns are illegal down there? not to say i would not carry them either. Have you guys watched those videos about the police in new orleans taking everyones guns after katrina?? Man i would have been pissed. I think they should hold the mayor and superintendent criminally liable for that.
-
oh the ex82 is not something to compare with. the ex40mnx are for very short range. The only way i have found you can mount them and get a good shot is to mount them on their back up against a wall. If you angle more than 45 degrees it will be a worthless shot

do you know whats messed up though? is that in pulaski county which holds little rock north little rock, and benton (pretty much 3/4 the states population), if you dont committ a violent crime then the jail is closed. You get processed at the police department and released. So she was back on the streets in less than an hour. Its been like that for 4 years now.

those cameras are tricky. You have to really make sure that the foam is all the way up against the cover and tight around the lens. Thats probably actually the problem. Do you have any pictures?
