First Setup, Babies room setup and Mudulator & ip video
jisaac replied to smmcconn's topic in System Design
man you are doing alot of work to achieve something that in about 3 months you will probably think back and wonder why you did it this way. Also you are doing alot of work to only on want to spend $100 off of ebay. And you got it off of ebay and your not happy?.?.?.?.?.? well that is going to happen. If you want something you are going to happy with then spend the money on something of quality from one of the many professionals who do sell surveillance equipment. There are many on this forum. You go with ebay and your buying from blo jo. My suggestion is to keep it simple stay with a dvr and use the remote viewing from the dvr instead of the server. And do not buy surveillance equipment from ebay and spend more than 100 in the baby room. If you have a night light in the room then just get a quality low light camera and you will enjoy the picture much more plus no red glow. ( i did the same thing about 2 years ago. My little girl was about 7 months and she would just stair at the red glow with a curious look. I eventually replaced it with a panasonic sdIII vp dome WV-CW474AFTP ). good luck -
I just wanted to give FM systems a plug. I have a camera master 2 that I got from them but that is not what I wanted to plug. Their tech support is awesome! Ya know if they wanted to they could answer the questions about how to use their equipment and then end the call. And they would have done their job and done it well. Heck allot of manufacturers do not even do that very well. But they will help you with using their product and anything else they can help you with. Those guys especially wess and don are extremely smart and extremely willing to help you out with any support issue. Ex. I called to clarify how to measure for ground loop on the camera master 2 when I was at the monitor end. We measured for that. And they could have said thank you very much. Nope they walked me through all kinds of tricks and ways to test my cable and every other possible thing that could have been causing the issue I was having. And none of the additional help had anything to do with supporting the product I bought. They were genuilly concerned with helping me solve the problem I had. And not just answering a quick question. That kind of level of support is un heard of! And even if you think you do not need to buy any of their equipment; it would be worth buying their equipment just to get to talk to these guys. Much thanks to FM Systems for outstanding support and genuine concern for helping. I would definitely highly recommend these guys! Here is a link to their website http://www.fmsystems-inc.com/ and here is a link to some cool helpul information that they published. http://www.fmsystems-inc.com/articles.htm

I have bought a good amount of stuff from mace. Since about november I have been having problems with their suport. recently it has been outragious. I have not installed a mace dvr since january. I have been having several issues with some of our existing systems mace dvrs. For a month I have been calling and getting no one to answer my calls. Only person that would answer is the sales man. Over and over and over I have left messages and no answers! Well I knew it was going to happean, because I was not able to get the support that was needed and overwelmingly neglected that at one of the locations 40,0000 dollars worth of stuff was stolen and no record of it. And because my name is about to be drug through the mud I thought it was only right to drag their name because they are the ones responsible. Do not buy from mace! Do not expect to get support from mace! I have never seen a company go down so fast in my entire life! Dont let this happean to you. Dont buy from mace! There you go Mace hope it was worth it!

I just wanted to make one thing clear about this. Mace and their support issues are in my experience only with the guys who support the dvr's and related. Now Moshe on the on other hand has been nothing but extremely helpful in ALL instances and experiences that I have ever had with the cameras and controllers and any other thing he could help with. No matter if it was 9:00 in the morning or 11:30 at night. Moshe has always been exactly the kind of person you want to be supporting the products you install. Moshe is in my opinion one of the most intelligent guys when it comes to not only mace cameras but any camera. So any comments about mace's support issues have been about the other guys. NOT MOSHE! If there was not the presence of relatives with job title’s because of who's related to who; then Moshe would have a support team that is just as good as pelco's. Kids with ****y attitudes and random made up comments don't make good management (relatives). But knowledgeable people that are extremely helpful and hardworking (Moshe) do make good managers. Oh ya and mikey nobody believe's you when you tell everyone that YOU made the dvr's with mace's name on it. So quit telling people that.

Spectra III , kbd300a controlling from both
jisaac replied to tomeb's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
this may be wright may also be wrong. Just a thought. But doing it that way does not have your communication terminated correctly. You can daisy chain several controllers through 1 of the kbd kits without any problems but when you try to combine the dvr's communication output and the controllers you have issues. I believe that they have a box that you have to go to in order to control with both dvr and controllers. You will problem need a something like one of their video servers or one of their video multiplexers -
Parking Lot Application - Autotracking Camera Suggestions
jisaac replied to rapid's topic in System Design
Here is something that would work that I tried here the past couple of days. You can have the camera go into a tour and go through a number of presets over and over. You can have a panasonic wcw964 overlooking the whole area from where the people will be coming and going. And have it touring a number of presets starting from the door and ending at the parking lot. So when it stops and stairs at the preset position you can set it to detect motion and alarm itself to start the auto tracking. Also you can have it alarm output to the dvr or multiplexer to bring that camera up on the monitor so that the person manning the guard station can pay attention to that camera. Also if the camera detects motion that is nothing then you can have it just return to the tour that it was on. It actually works pretty good because it is almost checking with itself when it detects motion. Because it will go into auto tracking and if it has nothing to auto track then it just forget the motion that it detected. Hey just a suggestion. -
Man I would have never expected the overwelming need for Wide dynamic range cameras. Even though they are way more expensive than regular cameras. I have found that people are willing to pay for them when they see examples. Especially in outdoor applications where shadows usually cause you not to be able to see areas during parts of the day. Anyone else getting good results from providing these?

well it turned out to be just a bad camera. Had it replaced and so far still working.

I need some help. I have a customer that is about as dumb as rocks. Well he called me and said one of his ptz's is in a tour but is not focusing. He said it is in a total blur. I cant figure out why this is doing it. Especially talking to him. I am up here in maryland on a business trip and cant just run out there. Any thoughts or suggestions? Would be much appreciated.

man I would not promise anything. The only thing I woiuld promise is what equipment you will install. I try to never guarantee the functionality of any equipment. Thats where you can get yourself into some sticky situations. -
Parking Lot Application - Autotracking Camera Suggestions
jisaac replied to rapid's topic in System Design
It might work if you were able to point the camera at the door the employees will walk out of. Then let it follow the person to the car. Assuming that the following does not occur: another moving object comes into the cameras FOV, then becoming the largest object in the FOV & also in most focus. And finally proceeds in the opposite direction. The auto tracking is impressive and if you have the what my wife calls the "something shiny disorder" and your aslo a techno nerd then it is something you could play and tinker with for a long time. The different ways you can configure to auto track and alarm other ptz's to move or do whatever is a endless possibiltiy. But its DEFINITLY not a good idea to put it in a application where you are going to have the auto tracking be a trusted and be a large portion of the systems funtionality/intended use. Remember that it is a brand new technology. That is very cool and usefull but not great for peoples (employess) safety. If you have critical areas use fixed cameras ALWAYS. And let the ptz's be the option for "additional information" on that area. PM me and I will send you some clips from a place we did where we put 30 of these things up. I asked and if I could use to show others for demo purposed and the customer told me just not to publically broadcast it to EVERYONE. aka post it in in a public forum for everyone and their cousins -
how are the lines moving when you watch it in video? Are they rapidly moving? Also which way do they move? Vertical or horizontal? Also what you should do is take a test monitor and see if you have that same problem at the camera (most likely not). But its good to rule it out.

Parking Lot Application - Autotracking Camera Suggestions
jisaac replied to rapid's topic in System Design
if the objective of your system with autotracking is to try to minimize security personal but also provide video/images that may be responded to in real time then you might try something like video analytics. Cernium has an excellent software solution called perceptrak. I have recently started to offer cerniums solution of analytics in my options. I have seen this work and work well. But then again its not for ptz's. You should check it out. www. cernium.com -

the auto tracking is not something you want to depend on. If I was you I would not even say anything about the auto tracking to the customer. I have installed the panasonic 954's. the auto tracking is pretty neat but the way it works is it will always look and analyze the background. So lets say the wind is blowing and the tree's are swaying. Or if it is raining real hard. It throws some curve balls in the application. The auto tracking is really only good to point in at a place where someone is not suppose to be. -
How many of you have the same probably as I do. I cant get any ISP to provide any upload speed higher than 600. 64 cameras pushing through 600kbps tends to push it abit.
-
well I asked him and he said no. When I left it it was on auto and he said he has not even been over there until saturday when he saw it was really out of focus. trying to talk this guy thru the menu's and settings is not easy.

ya there is no mistaking a true day night over a psuedo day night. Well like we always say, "you get what you pay for". i have always loved a good bw image. they look so crisp.

here is 2 shots with a true day night and a so called "day night" camera. But as you can see a true day is much much better and sharper

I noticed my PTZ was not in its tour and also noticed a few other things in my office had been either moved or taken. So I checked the video of a camera placed in my office and look at what I found. I am glad I still have the video. http://arksurveillance.com/hostvids/breached.avi http://arksurveillance.com/hostvids/breached.mp4 (same clip just different formats) There are some things you just dont plan for in securing your systems.

Everfocus does not make good cameras (alteast what I have seen) so I would definitly not go with their ptz's.

you are right about the power zoom cameras they will work some times. But not consitently. One major downfall is the auto focus will go nuts when lights are in the picture especially if they are moving. The thing about LPR is if someone really wants then it is a area of high importance. And most things are not going to happean under "perfect" lighting conditions. Get the extreme lpr. It works. Its proven. Its reliable. And it has a 5 year warranty. I have used these several times and NOTHING else out there can provide LPR as consistently and reliably as those.
