oh this woman was arrested and I am sure this will be a big shock to everyone, but she was found with possession of cocaine I think the next stage would be going postal. And the cameras I am not sure as we did not install them. we just replaced the dvr. I think neverfocus. cant you tell?
-
there are some government jobs and ALL military jobs that require a breakdown on cost. They require that the job can not have any more than 30% of the total cost be labor
-
the way we charge for installation has changed over the years. I first tried to bill per hour at $65 an hour. So I left the labor off of the total price on the proposals and then after the install billed them for time spent out there. People did not like that and had issues with some people. So I changed it to taking my best guess at the time to install the system when doing a proposal. And if it takes us longer then we just eat the labor cost. People like that alot better. If you want to be in business you have to charge for your labor. If your licensed, insured, and possible even bonded then you have a large amount of cost to be in business. And you have to pay your installers. After being in business for a short time I realized all the cost in installation for us dealers/installers. So I raised our labor rate to 80 per tech/installer. ****Charging for labor is a must.****** On average if we installed a "typical" system with runs from 0-150ft max then a 8 camera system would be installed for around $1,500-$2,500. P.S. I have learned to never put the price your installing it on your proposals by itself. Just include it in the total price. People for some reason hate to see the labor price. I just put "installation included".

i will put it this way and leave this alone Our goal: Provide the most effective system that fullfills the customers needs, for the lowest possible cost. If a specific area of interest requires IR vandal proof we provide nothing more and nothing less. The guy asked about a product line and that was it so the response was a reply. I did not know his parameters/variables for the coverage area. So a response to his question seemed simple.
-
200+ .. sounds cool ..same price as the previous ones too? yes, same price and large increase in IR coverage. Can’t complain about that. And CCTV_Suppliers, I am probably the biggest believer and preacher of the quality of Panasonics products. Not only do I believe in the supreme quality that the line of SDIII and other un touched features. I am more of a supporter of pano's equipment than extremes in most applications. But the extremes do have their place and all I was saying was that in area of low light and solid day performance the ex line should not just be dismissed and have something else pushed just to save a few $$$. Maybe the $ savings is not his main priority. We dont really know what his priority’s are. Could be Vanity of cameras Performance shape Specs or religious belief of the person who inspected it. The guy asked about the ex line of cams and so one would think IR day/night performance bundle. And so I would recommend it.
-
ok even i am a HUGE believer in panasonic equipment but your just way off. you said. "but for one of these Extreme cameras, you can get at least 2 of boxed version cameras with lenses, housing, heater and blower and the end result is substantially better (and leaving more cash in your pocket..." substantially better? ya right. You can get good ir response from a pan 484 but your overall camera shots in the night are much better with 82. By the way rory with new black diamond you get 200+ feet of coverage. the ex82 is a good investment and will out perform in any day/night application

you know i would think that hdd failures are a hdd manufacturing issue also. But back when we used to install DM dvrs for our D.O.D accounts those things dropped hard drives constantly! And no other dvr has ever had that much hdd failures that i have seen. So maybe some dvrs do play a factor in hdd failure??? Its worth a thought.
-
oh you cant get much better designed camera than the ex82. especially now with the black diamond ir you get like 250 ft. the only thing that sucks is the trying to get the foam on and not move the photocell. that little hole is a pain.

like I said a pro active sytem (meaning a system that alarms in real time to a person/station that requires a action to be taken.) can be effective in deterring/stopping crime. Let me add on to that statement " a pro active sytem can be alot more effective in deterring/stopping crime. " I will agree that there are some criminals that look for easy targets and easy targets only. In my experience they are few ard pose little risk. I think of them as the borderline mischief makers. There is numerous instances where places dont get robbed/stolen/vandalized or whatever until after a security system was put into place. Why? The real criminals want to know what you got hiding back there that you want to protect. In all due respect because you had some amature guys get some interest in your house and then scared enough to leav does not mean that is going to happean more often than not. So far we have 160 accounts in arkansas that have our intrusion detection with remote video verifcation systems on their business. Meaning we put these huge cameras and detectors and signs and all the works on the perimter of the property. The cameras looking back in to the property and the detectors creating a 360 degree perimeter along the outer most parts of the property. Once an intruder comes on to the outer edges of the property is when they are detected. The video goes directly to our monitoring center that will talk to them live and let them know that they are being watched live and that the police are on the way and then we say "looking for a man in a blue shirt, baseball hat, blue jeans, and white shoes" (obviously we let them know that THEY are being watched and its not a recorded message.) You want to know a interesting pattern? (i usually would never say this out loud as this is a huge sales killer) The fact is that usually after putting in these elaborate systems to stop people as they come on the property. The amount of attempted intrusions on a property will initially signifcantly rise! Usually by atleast 2-3 times the attempts in the first 3 weeks. After 3 weeks word gets around and people know that its a death trap to walk into that system. But the determined criminals the ones that do the bulk of the stealing and crime are drawn to what they are not suppose to get their hands on. They could care less about the immenant threat of security technology breathing down on them waiting to blow the whistle on them. Despite all that they still go for it. Believe me I am not basing my opinion on a single incident. I see incidents like this on average of atleast 5 times a day. Would see more if I actually kept up on all the activity on all the accounts. But that is to much to keep up with.

I am going to say something and it’s just me being completely honest. The video surveillance system won’t provide you any protection in terms of stopping or preventing an attack. One of the easiest ways to sell security systems is to appeal to peoples emotions and let them believe that if they get a security system that it will protect them. A proactive system can. But a camera system will only provide you with video of the event after it happened. One of the major misconceptions is that criminals will go to a place that does not have a system. Yet I can provide you with a boat load of criminals committing crimes despite and in the face of security measures. (hints why vandal proof cameras are so popular). Criminals are going to do it regardless take banks in for instants. Even though they know they are walking into a army of cameras pointed at them people continue to rob them daily. So like I said criminals are going to do it regardless. So you might as well get it on GOOD video. AKA: DONT GO CHEAP ON YOUR SYSTEM.
-
i wonder if this guy could have given us a better shot of his face to put on the news. Criminals Rule #1 before you spend the next hour and a half breaking into storage units be sure to avoid looking directly into the camera. http://arksurveillance.com/hostvids/face.avi Not bad for a face shot to put on the news.
-
oh ya there is about 45 minutes of him breaking into several storage units but its pretty boring and I did not put it in the video clip. save time and save the video clip from being like 20MB
-
pretty much from what i have seen in the last year or so is that most outdoor dome cameras are going to be vandal proof.

panasonics dvr is extremely easy to use. Especially thru the webclient. I mean it does not get much easier than that. I would highly recommend you try the software thru the web client. http://66.149.117.147/ username: wjhd316a password: password we usually dont even have to train the end users who use the webclient. Its pretty self explanitory. If you want to view recorded video you click the hdd tab. If you want to control a camera click the camera tab. if you want to view mult cams click the multi button. its real easy. -

flat screen VGA monitors vs CCTV monitors
jisaac replied to libertysurveillance's topic in General Digital Discussion
Ya the live views on a lcd do not match a crt. the only lcd that i have seen come even remotly close (REMOTLY. NOT THE SAME) is panasonics lcd. now that thing is like 1,500 retail. where a crt the same size that actually looks better retails for a couple hundred. Panasonic i think is about to discontinue their crt's. -
need recommendation on multisite cctv all dumping to 1 servr
jisaac replied to laidbackrob's topic in System Design
forgive me if i am repeating some information already posted. But i did not read the reply's as it is 5:33 in the morning and I cant sleep. anyways. I would highly recommend using panasnics 300 dvr or their 200-300 nvr. Then you can use their newest managment software. We use this set up for several bank locations over here that they use the software from one location.. All the video is ftp every night up to be stored at the main branch. it works perfect and looks like your looking at one location as it is all brought up in one screen. p.s. if your wanting to upload the video you will need t1's at each location if you want it to upload all the video daily. trust me. -

oh man a gigabit network is a must. You may get by for now but just think you are leaving yourself for NO room. Think about 2 years down the road when some new technology for whatever comes down the road and you need more bandwith. Just go ahead and put the gigabit switch in now. its not that much more expesive -
i like you name to. "laughter"

one of the funniest things kind of related i have experienced is in the air force's dorm's. Man those dorms have the most need for video surveillance systems of all the buildings on any base. Because those kids are wild! Anyways we put one in a dorm and the kids were trying to get around the cameras. So they go to the breaker and cut the power to the office in which the dvr and entire head end equipment was in. So meanwhile these kids go nuts! I mean like spring break cancun 2 a.m. at the local bar/club, nuts! Little did they know we put the entire system on a different circuit and battery backed up it just in case. Well I cant say exactly what happeaned but lets just say several people were formally kicked out of the military or went to jail or both. And the look on these kids face when the SGt told them that they flipped the wrong switch! Priceless!

that camera was just a 480 line pinhole camera in a keypad. the recording quality settings differs from place to place. If I know that at one location that one of the cameras will get excellent face shots of every person. meaning that their face will fill up a third of the camera then i dont need to record a 720x480 image. And in most locations we do atleast have one camera doing this. Also a reason for the high end analog cameras is that the lines of res on a camera is only one of the many specs. We like to use cams like panasonics 484 SDIII series because: (just to name a few) -auto back foucs -excellent 128x pixel based dynamic range -excellent color reproduction and many many more. The fact that it is a 540 line camera is way down the list of favorite features. Also you have to think that in cable runs you dont actually get a 100% of the lines of resolution at the dvr end. Some are lost/dropped. And so having a higher res camera in the first place will ensure more resolution is making it into the dvr's video input. Have you ever seen a color camera on a long run look almost like a BW cam?

Quick question about IR cut filter and true day/night cams
jisaac replied to photys's topic in Security Cameras
ya i had the same issues with customers and so i took a different approach. now from the very beginning i tell them that I will be the most expensive proposal they will get. That way they are not suprised and I weed out the 1,500 dollar people before I waste any time.
