the funny thing about it is there will always be people starting new threads with one of those topics thinking they are starting a new conversation. And there will always be the same arguments

Cat 5 (Twisted Pair) vs RG cabling
jisaac replied to chewingyu's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
We generally do use coax. The really only time we use baluns is if the install is a pain in the ass and very hard to get to. I use cat 5 mostly if the runs are not easily accessable and would cut down on labor. You have to use it in the right situation. -
OHHHHHHHHHH THAT WOULD BE THE DEFINITION OF "PUTTING GASOLINE ON THE FIRE" ABOUT 40 GALLONS OF GASOLINE

oh great here we go again

Cat 5 (Twisted Pair) vs RG cabling
jisaac replied to chewingyu's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
i would have to disagree that cat 5 gets more interference. Overall cat 5 actually cancels out the interference it draws in. Unlike coax. Coax actually works as a antenna as it is powered. Do a little research on that and you will find out that that is correct. -
when i said 5,000. I dont mean 16 cameras for 5,000. I pulled that number becuause that was the lowest system we have ever done. And it was 3 cameras. Ya 16 cameras. That would run somewhere around 25,000 over here. There is absolutely no way I would do a 16 system for 3,000 to 4,000. Wow!

Lets stop and think about what kind of industry you are in. If you are in a surveillance and security type of industry. the last thing you need is something to be unstable. That to me is the definition of wireless.

when you say you want to provide a professional system in the price range of 3,000 to 4,000. How many cameras are you talking about for each store? I am not saying what we do is right but we dont provide many systems that would be less than 5,000

I believe they already released some of them. I know the cam 37c replacements are in.
-
not even heard of them

i actually have one of those but it is in a box. Actually I have about 14 of those. I will hook one up and send you a pic (not right now maybe within the next 12 hours)

Earlier today I went out to a cleaners that we upgraded a while ago to fix some settings he screwed with. He had a 4 camera system. We put in 8 channel dvr. Replaced 3 of the 4 ultrax box camera with 3 mace cam 37c and also put in 4 new domes. (so obviously their is still 1 old ultrax camera in this 8 camera system). So take a look at the difference in cameras. http://www.geocities.com/jisaacmagee/comparison.html remember this is with the exact same amount of light! What a difference! And this ultrax system was installed only 2 years ago
-
nope the mace cameras are facing the windows. and ultrax/utrack cameras are facing the counter top/wall. By the way the light source is actually coming from the left side of the ultrax/whatever camera. Remember this is at 5:27 in the morning there is not light source coming from outside. Only light source is coming from the light source outlined in the diagram. Check the link now I have posted a diagram as to where these cameras and light source are located.

Clinton dvrs? OH no we have had enough dealing with the Clintons here in little rock. Especially since that horrible looking Clinton library. I would be careful of any thing with the name Clinton on it. Especially if you leave it alone with a fat chick.

ya i think that the halo affect can be both happeanings. I just so happeaned that yesterday i did the same thing that you did vst-man. The only thing different was usually I believe the reason is the reflecting off the glass. But It can also be the sun shield. I had a ir bullet a while back that did not have a sun shield (was inside) and had the halo affect. Anyways all that to say you are both right.

rory i swear to God on my 2 beautiful childrens life that that is they same exact location. If you look at the ultrax shot and then look down at the 1st mace shot. The counter top to the left is where the ultrax is looking. And no the light in that room is not on. The light in the room behind it is on in both of those cameras shots. But those are the exact same lighting condition. I am going to go look at the model number of the ultrax. Note to self: Do not use ultrax cameras

The most true statement I have heard in a while.

I got a question. Sometimes my boxes dont turn red for the post that have been made since the last time I have visited. Any ideas why?

I dont know why but there is just something about wiring your own house. I hate it. I just recently moved about a month ago and had to wire my new house. Not only for cameras but also for A/V. It took me month to do something that would usually take me about a day. I just hate wiring my own house. I guess its like how a maid would clean the hell out of your house but her house would be trashed. Well I can finally say its done. I finally got all my components in my office and have everything distributed to my wall plates. What a pain in the ass!
