its funny how I am am so strick with my employees about how neet and professional things HAVE to be done. But when it comes to my house my inital thoughts are "who cares? As long as it is connected and works". Luckily I have a wife who would kick my AZZ if I tried to get lazy. You would think someone would want it done as good as possible for their own house. I guess when your not getting paid to do it it makes the things you normally do seem not so much important.

Does anyone know of a good quality manufacturer of cable testers that they have personally use and recommend? I have had a couple of testers that were not worth any more than the trash in your trash can. I am looking for a tester that will test coax, cat 5 and cat 3. Also if there is a short in the cable I want to know where. I forget what the technical term for these types of testers are. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

oh ya my wife hates my ptz dome on the front the house. I say its good advertisement. I sold a few by having it on my old house. plus they are just fun to play with. I caught a 7 year old kid stealing a balloon off my mailbox that was left over from my 3 year old little girls birthday party. I scared the hell out of him. I had him thinking that balloon was important for a while. When he almost started crying I let him go. Was pretty funny.

optex does make some great beams. But if you get some make sure to get the ones with the conduit knockouts. Makes it a whole hell of alot easier.

linksys is good if it is a small network especially if you are only using for your dvr and a computer. Or even better only for your dvr. I dont like to use it for anything larger than that. By the way have you ever called the technical support? I made that mistake once. I am a computer engineer and if I am calling tec support you know something is really messed up. After spending an hour with this agent from linksys with their GED I wanted to kill them. They would not pass me to second level support. And all they want you to do is "check to see if your pc is hooked up to your router" or "power cycle your router". Its like come on now retard I am a little more advanced than those 2 options you have been trying for the last hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never call them. I promise you you know more about their product than they do. I dont care if you are in the 5th grade! Trust me!

well in this application there are two 16 channel dvr's. So it is not pushing all this through one dvr. But ya you are right about that. They do max out.

you dont do drugs? How do you do your installs??? Sober? Wow! Whats that like? Just kidding Although I saw some guys installing an alarm system one time with pupils the size of quarters! I laughed at those kids for a long time. we still joke about them. I am on adderall. my add medicine. If not then my installs are shall we say "disorganized"

Hey we got this job coming up for the air force and its a single camera that is going to be on top of radio tower thats about 200 feet tall. Its on top of a hill surrounded by rough terrain around it. We got to get this video, power, data between this tower and the building. We definitly cant dig and bury it for 2 reasons. Rough terrain and Gas and water line run all through the path. They definiltly did not approve that . Cant do wireless. To much interferance. ( "radio tower" ) . The only way we can do is airial. Never done arial that far. Anyone experienced in this? How do I secure it? How do i keep all the birds, squirrells, and every other creature from making the wire its long bungie cord or jump rope? Any ideas would be much appreciated. I can send some pics if you pm me isaac

went out to do a site survey on an existing system. They were wanting to upgrade their system they currently have. They have 16 cameras. Well 12 cameras. 4 got stolen....twice. Its a hotel and they want a solution to these cameras being stolen. The problem is where these cameras are being stolen is on this building. Its 2 stories and the eve's are concrete and about 7 1/2 feet tall. I was thinking about putting some vandal proof domes. But I cant find a camera that I can lock into a mount. Because hell even if its vandal proof someone can take baseball bat and knock it of the mount. Anyone know of a solution?
