Vst thats not a bad idea. Never thought about that. I dont know why thats a pretty simple idea. I am an idiot sometimes.

watch out for the tall thin dark headed girl. Makes service calls out there not so bad.

i did not with those cameras. But if you can it helps in surges and spikes. Heck how many times have you seen people with surge protectors and at the end of the power plug you see a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter (and dont screw the ring)? It will be alright

dang did not notice that. who the heck bumped a thread from march?

If you where to do a sight survey and try to find out what kind of interferance you have for wireless devices do you use a rf detector with digital frequency counter? or just hook up wireless devices on the main frequences and see what kind of interference you have? Just wondering

i am kind of confused on what your problem is. I am assuming you are wondering how 10 cameras are working if only 1 fuse is inserted. You said there are 16 terminals all fuse protected, right? Where was that one fuse input at? Was the fuse inserted in one of the individual fuse holders for one single terminal? Or was it inserted in that fuse holder for the whole strip of terminals? And also can you answer this? There was no other fuses in the whole power supply at all and you put one in (where?) and it powered ten cameras? Also I got a good laugh at someone trying to fit 10 leads on one terminal.

I have got a job right now where we are going in to a system installed by a company nobody knows the name of. And this system is wacky. See if you can figure it out. WARNING THIS IS GOING TO BE LENGTHY! Ok there is 9 Pelco Esprit ptz's out on this location. The connection between the cameras and the control site is all fiber. Ok so here is where it gets confusing. We went in this building and they had one of the cameras working up on a plasma monitor in the main room. In the same room they had a kbd400 pelco controller. They said they have not been able to see the other cameras nor control them (obviously). So after moving the controller to see if it would react, nothing happeaned. So I decided to try to plug in another identical controller to see if that one would work. When i unplugged the cat 5 cable it lost video on the monitor. So plugged the 1st controller back in and could never get the camera picture back up. Ok so after that i decided to go look for the genex mulitplexer server. After a bit of searching I found the Genex Mx4000SVR. After looking on the back of it, I found that there was nothing going into the camera inputs on the back of the Genex?!?!?! Only 2 coax cables one going in to the main and one into the spot monitor . Also an input going into the local keyboard port and also a cable going to the remote keybord inputs. ok now under this was a genex series multiplexer 16 channel. And there was 11 camera inputs and only 4 of them ended up working. But none of them was the camera that was originally on the plasma! now somewhere down the a building that was about 1/2 a mile away could control that camera that was on the plasma. It was a slave to to the controller in the originally room with the controller. Now my job is to try to get all these cameras working and able to switch between all these cameras and pan tilt and zoom from both locations. Any ideas? isaac

Here is the way it went That camera was fed directly into a seperate mulitplexer and was the only camera fed into it. So I unplugged it from that mulitiplexer and routed that one back to the other main muliplxr and then routed the main and spot back to the genex mxplr server. That gave me control and ability to pull up and control all the cameras from all the different locations via/output 1-4. (compressed explenation)

Does anyone know of some kind of stand alone unit that I can add on to a embedded system that will automatically send an email upon an event? alarm? I have a system at a customer business. And after we get everything installed he wants something to email him if someone comes in after hours. So that in the morning when he gets in he will have an email from the system saying someone was there. Anyone know of such a product sold by itself as something I can add on?
-
YES that is the unit. and rory unless they have been hiding it somewhere in a feature hidden far far far far far far far far far away then i dont think they do.

its a mace 4 channel dvr MPEG-4 120 FRAMES PER SECOND 4 CHANNELS OF AUDIO ALARM INPUT OUTPUT (OBVIOUSLY) CD BURNER TRIPLEX OPERATION ( RECORD, TRANSMIT, AND PLAYBACK AT SAME TIME)

no it does not. this install has been a pain straight up my backside since we said go. I am really just wanting to get this thing over with and be done with it. But this guy is one of those thinks he knows everything about the industry because he saw a special on tv or something of that nature. Know of a inexspensive dvr I can replace this one with if there is no other add on option?
-
ya the reason i ask is one of my clients had a 9 channel switcher from provideo that lasted 6 months before it died and wants to see if I could send it back for them. ( i did not install it, was before we came along)

vibration in an industrial install
jisaac replied to griffonsystems's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
no but that sounds like a fun one. Definitly let me know how you deal with that one. -
ya you have to be careful with firing your employees. Here it cost us a arm and a leg to get someone licensed and certified that I am very reluctant to fire anyone. It goes like this $900.00 for the NBFA class and book $400 for State Police licensing and background cheks and so on and so forth. And also time it cost to actually train these people on this stuff isaac

Does anyone know of a good fiber transcievers? Coax to Fiber? Also has to be made in america or a country of good dipolomatic relations. (government). I also like the ones with led's on the front. I need some for single mode and multimode fiber. Not to experienced with fiber but would appreciate any help.

well I personally take extreme pride in my work. I have a hard time lettting my install crew do a complete job without me having some part to do with it. Much less sub contracting it out. I would not like to sell a job and then pass it off on someone else. If you can plan and schedule your time right then you wont have the problem of having down time after an install. I get most of my business of referrals. 9 out of 10 jobs are off of referalls. I would credit that to having extremely satisfied customers based off of the incredibly clean and efficiant install that is almost down to a science. When we get done with our install I sit my customers down and ask them. "Have you been very well pleased with our installation, service, and your complete system?" 99% say ,"oh yes. Very well pleased" So then I ask "Would you be so kind as to provide me with 3 or more people I could contact who might be interested in getting a system" Have yet to have one so no. Because you already got them to say they were pleased. They pretty much feel that if they said no they would be somewhat of a hypocrite. So you also ask them to please contact them and let them know you will be contacting them. If you did as good of a job on the install as you should have. And if you do what i stated above right then I promise you the only down time you will have is if and when you are not able to get your equpiment shipped to you in time for your earliest available starting date. Which most of the time you are just pulling wire anyways the first couple of days. So take that formula I just provided (which i got from someone else) put it into practice. And you will have very little down time. (especially if you have a referral program where you provide things to the referree)
