Need to get from one building to another over fiber network
jisaac replied to jisaac's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
oh red lights? Those are these things here in the u.s. my wife likes to forget about until a car with a green light does not forget about her. TWICE! But hey its ok because I am the bad guy for telling her to pay attention. And she "is not a bad driver atleast that is how she would like to perceive it. "Wait a minute this is the cctv forum. Not the marriage counselor. Sorry" -
ok alphag here is what you have to do. Now you have to do exactly what I tell you. Dont stray away. Ok first you take the camera in one hand. Then take the cable going from the camera in the other hand. Take the camera and place it on a table carefully in front of you. Now with your hands that you have just have made available, you are going to go out to your garage and grab your sledgehammer. Then pretend that camera is your mother in law or if you dont have one then my mother in law. Ok now seriously. Radioshacks cameras is loosly defining the word camera or image for that matter. But any way what you should have gotten with that camera is a 6 pin din converter. I believe if my memory serves me correctly (worked at radioshack 4 years ago when I was in college). It goes camera--->6pin din--->adapter ----->video(rca), audio(rca), power I could be wrong on the cable layout. ( i have tried to forget everything I was told at radioshack) Now on getting it on your computer. You will need a video capture card. Or you can get a rca to vga adapter. Now that will just utilize your monitor not your actual pc. If i confused you more just tell me. But a word of advice. Get a good day night camera. Those radioshack cameras are piece of ****. I am sure someone here knows where to get some cameras.

that link is no good. -
ya those hand held mpeg-4 recorders are great. I recently bought a few of these and cant keep them in stock. I get more calls for those from the P.I.'s around here than I do those dang wrong number fax machines ringing in my cell phone. And believe me thats a hard number to beat! isaac

Hey guys what do you know about pelco's pressurized housings? how well do they work? And are they good enough to back with a warranty?
-
oh ya. i actually JUST used some of those for an install. First time I had ever used those and they worked great. Great picture. Easy install. No problems yet. isaac
-
oh no this is by no means a normal install. This is a quarry where they crush rocks and is very very dusty. The existing housings that were set up perfect get full of dust DAILY. So pressurized housings look like a good idea to me.

Has anyone had any experience with these? I am about to buy 3 of these. For the price these should be some excellent cameras. But have not actually used these. Looks like a pretty cool setup. isaac

CCtv outlet. I was in convington on sunday. I asked my uncle if he knew of them. He said he thinks they took alot of damage. Good chance they are gone. But not 100% There was alot of places that was unreachable.

i am heading down to lousiana on saturday ( today ) to hopefully bring supplys to my relatives and hopefully talk them into coming and staying back in arkansas with me. I will give you a report of the casinos. Although I hear right now that it is pretty much much total devistation in most south lousiana. Hopefully there are some relatives to bring some supplys to.

depends on the application. A.I. is great ( most of the time )
-
not sure if this will help but try to have your light no so much just illuminating the open area but more directed towards an object so that it may bounce of the object. Hey its worth a shot.
-
ya the difference is this. To get video on to a composite it has to compress the signal so much until it can transmit the whole video spectrum over the standard composite video cable. Sacrificing video quality because when it gets to the monitor it has to be interpretted back to what it was at before it was compressed. And as we all know compressing and decoding and that whole cycle deminishes the quality. Well svideo what it does is it seperates your chromonance and lumance and carrys them seperatly on your video cable. Therefore cuttting down on the decoding at the monitor. Now if you can get component even better. But I wont even confuse you with that

not sure. I know convington is pretty bad off. My whole family is from south Lousiana and have not heard from anyone. Its not looking good.

I have a question. How important do you feel that having a clean installation is? When I say clean I mean no cable visable anywhere. Everything nice, neat, level, and in appearance a professionally installed system. I feel alot of people especially woman will judge your system alot by how it looks or how much "stuff" is exposed. Even if you have a excellent system if you do not do an extremely good job at making your dvrs and wire and cameras mounted and placed right then you will still get a bad or low overall system rating. Any thoughts?
-
here is a picture of a single frame from a install we just finished up. We put a camera in the office with these 2 dvrs. What you are seeing is 2 16 channel dvrs with a linksys router and speedstreem 5100 modem on top of the router. Above that is 2 power supplys you cant really see those that well with this shot. But thats how we kind of do it. isaac http://www.geocities.com/jisaacmagee/office.BMP
