if i was the store manager and I found out about that I would make him rewind all the tapes that old guy had by his fingers. All the way to the beginning. As many times as that old guy pleased.

i think that your picture/video is not set up correctly. Its hard to make him out with the package

this is a little off topic but still a good story. I got a call from a guy the other day that said that he had bought some camera equipment off of ebay and that he needed someone to install it. Usually we won’t do that but since he said he had bought 1 pelco ptz, a pelco dx700 dvr, and a pelco kbd300 controller I decided to agree to it. So our guys get there and as soon as they get there they call me and are like," uhhh there is a little mix up on the dvr, ptz, and the controller." So I asked them what they meant and they said for the ptz instead of a pelco spectra ptz they got some no name china made ptz. Instead of the pelco dx700 they got a 4 year old pelco time lapse vcr and a genex multiplexer. And instead of a pelco kbd300 they got some really old controller (the ones with arrows instead of a joystick). And it was not even close to a pelco. This guy got ripped a new one off of ebay. (Its a little bit satisfying to see someone who tried to save some money get ripped on ebay!)

Very rarely do people choose a system completely of panasonic 484's and SDIII PTZ's. With their $1,500.00 controller. Usually what we do to keep the system some what affordable is we will only put the 484's where this is going to be area of strong backlight or contrast difference. And then use panasonics compact color camera or their newest wv-cf294 domes. Those of which are more affordable. Some where in the 550.00 range instead of the wv-cw484 vandal proof domes which are in the 900.00 range. A typical aystem would be a mix and match of SDIII cams and compact color camera (or more affordable cams). Your objective should not be to provide the most expensive or cheapest system. Your objective should be to provide the most effective system for their applications needs at the lowest possible cost.

can anyone tell me GE default user name and password for the ip plastic dome that we got for beta testing???? I lost my paperwork!
-
thats the thing. That is top end equipment. If you want low end aka affordable equipment your going to get inferior results. It depends on whats more important to you; the money or the quality of video.

yes that 320x240 picture is a panasonic 484. (same area as the 1st picture just using a 5~50mm lens. if you want to see a side by side comparison check this out. ok this first pic is a mace cam 68. ok now this is a pana 484 notice the color rendetion. My shirt is black not light brown as the first picture would make you think. and look at the ground also and the color difference. so its just as much your camera as your dvr. I would say its more important to start first with a quality camera then upgrade your dvr.

Man we see some of the sloppiest, messiest, most unproffessional installs around here. Its so strange that people even let them get away with it. If I had people installing a system for me and they did the kind of job that some of the companies do around here I would make them redo it. We use wall plates, conceal all wire (except going from plate to equipment), and make sure everything looks exceptional. And then to see how some people do it is just crazy. ex. thats just funny
-
here is a photo from an icrealtime pro dvr which is much more affordable
-
keep in mind also that this camera retails for close to 1,900.
-
panasonic 300 series dvr and wv-np1004 hybrid camera ran off the coax output (obviously)
-
p.s. if you dont have a excellent picture to begin with you wont record an excellent picture in the end.

I got it. Who ever can get these inbread, hillbilly, no shoe wearing citizens of arkansas to understand how a system does not cost only 499.99 And that if they cant SPELL camera then they should not even be trying to buy a camera. (sorry frustrating week)

For a good while now when we had a job with ptz's we only used panasonic's. Other ptz's we have used in the past never really impressed us in several different ways. Last week I had needed to put in a ptz in a place where we have a intrusion detiection system on the perimeter with remote video verification. And so I put a Ic realtimes icr2200 ptz out there. I was un easy about putting it in because I was not sure about the quality. After putting that thing in I give it a great review. First the way that the hookup of the rs485/video/power is all conceled above the camera to the mount in a terminal block. That was a excellent idea by the manufacterer. Second the easy of the set up. And then the camera quality is very good. For the retail price of $2,4000 that is an excellent choice for ptz's. The pansonics are still superior but they are also 4,000 retail.

jisaac replied to jisaac's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
ya i was talking about the ge ip video control center. ( even though I did not state it in my post ) But that user name Admin passowrd 123456 worked. Thank you! Man i was going through all the usual default passwords I could think of for about 20 minutes. The ONE I did not try was 123456 appreciate it -
check out how pure active systems work. that is a excellent product we use for wide area surveillance and intrusion detection analytics

hey go to mardi gras and you will kind of be able to relate. There is very little bathrooms and when you have been drinking all night and it takes atleast a hour and a half to walk down royal/bourbon/dauphne street you kind of know how it feels. thats why people are always getting arrested for pissing on the street in the french quarter.

Exactly how does high voltage AC affect cameras?????
jisaac replied to jisaac's topic in Security Cameras
well we installed the cable it was 12 feet from the ground against the wall of inside wall of this manufacturing wharehouse. Well they later had a small room made and ran new conduit and the wire right beside the run of coax. So they had about 4 inches apart running parallel for like 150 feet. what kept baffling me was i did not know they ran new AC. -
Ever wondered what happeans when you have your cable run to close to AC? Behold this was how I spent my morning notice the camera we put in yesterday is looking a little........well look at first I thought it was something wrong with the camera trying to figure out what the heck is going on while hunched over looking at my laptop. me explaining to the owner that I am have not a clue just yet then I pull on the cable run and notice a moment of picture being more normal ( ya thats my "I am standing here and not having a clue what the hell just happeaned" look. I know I pose like a professional model. ) My wife calls is it my "duhhhhhh, which way did he go george" look. I thought some of you would like to see how bad that made that camera look for future reference. I have never had that happean before to that extreme. I was confused for a little while there.
-
those panasonic cameras wont be phased if you accidently reverse the positive and negative. uhhhhh.....SO I AM TOLD. i NEVER DID THAT in all seriousness we have done that before and thank God that it does not phase them.
-
they want you to fix that????? I would tell them I that the only thing you would do is put in new equipment. Not fix that future law suit.
