    icrealtime pro8 vs panasonic wj-rt 208

ok so lets ALL agree to this. that in the event anyone of us have not used/tested/experienced a particular product then lets not comment on the product. I think it’s perfectly ok to recommend a product especially if you have had good experiences with it. But for products that we have not used or had direct interaction with I think it’s only fair to everyone from the providers of the product to the end users looking for advice on products; we all have to share experiences good or bad for with things we have experienced. Ex. There was a time some time last year in which I was looking into getting some extreme WZ line. Then Rory posted some of the recent experiences with the WZ products and the returns. That was defiantly helpful and the ideal situation in which we can share experiences and results from our interaction with different product lines. Otherwise I would have suffered some the same issues and disappointment. I have some experience with GE products and dvr's. We have replaced about 3 GE dvr's for Icrealtime dvr's. The customer did not like the performance of the GE's. I have some experience but not enough that I would tell people not use them. Because GE could have a good product and I could be doing people disservice by telling them not to use them. I will recommend a product that I know is good. That’s why I usually comment on a select few products on this forum. I could be the only person who thinks that we should only recommend or tell a person to not use a product with only products we have had direct experience with. But that seems only right. If you agree let us all know. If you don't agree then also let us all know. And for Rory. I apologize if I have been too confrontational and been an A**. And for that I am sorry. My attempt to try to keep the forum professional and alive with unbiased information sharing and on going resource for people all over the world caused me to violate the "professional" section of this sentence.

not true panaonsic has had their ability to record in 4 cif for a while now. The point my rep was making that untill recently panasonics resolution was not as important to the panasonic people as much as the bells and whistles were. ps. rory has helped so many people here, so i wouldnt pick on him too much. I am not picking on him. I just get sick of him dogging the icrealtime dvr when he has not even got to get his hands on one. I think its not to much to ask to give an honest review of something. Not ," use THIS and not THAT even though I have never used THAT". Other than how he feels about it on the forum I have yet to hear any legitimate reason as to why he beats on ICrealtime like they owe him money.
  4. before you start doing anything I would read E-myth by micheal gerber. Remeber this most entrepeneurs are technicians who suffured from a entrepeneural seizure at one point in time. There is a whole lot more to owning your own business that just the technical work. And actually if you want to be successful you will remove yourself completly from that technical work. You as the business owner have much more important things to do than the labor work. But then again you will learn all this when you read E-myth.

what i mean when you can set the cameras up over the network is by using panasonics ps data to communicate up the coax and set up the on screen display via the network. that way you dont have to be a on a ladder trying to do it.

metal sharper man the panasonic 300 series can not simultanous record all 16 cameras in real time. It can record 120 ips in cif mode total for the dvr in the "A" serires. in the non "a" series it can do a total of 60 ips. Also the "A" series allows the cameras to be set up over the network.

of course rory suggest the ge. Rory has knocked the ic dvr's from the very beginning and tries his hardest to bad mouth all over this forum. Yet he has never even tried one. So what makes him the authority to make suggestions on products he has never even touched!?!?!?!?!? I guess its all of his post. Because if he has the time to be making all of these post he must have enough time to be getting real HANDS ON experience. Wouldn't you say so? Give me a break. The IC pro dvr's you cant go wrong with. You can be sure that rory will bad mouth the ic line no matter what the post. And then push the GE. Because back when he was in the industry that was what he liked to use. .........countdown to rory editing this post........or moving it to dealer forum

    several ptz cams

the standalone controllers are much easer to quickly use and program and get the full used out of the ptz's. you can control the ptz's by dvr just also have a standalone controller in the mix also.

    Installation height, vandals, domes?

vandalism is hard to predict. We have put standard box camera housing twenty feet up and had them bashed and forced to look up. And we have put vandal proof cameras 6 feet of the ground and never had them touched. I would have to say that bullet cameras would be extremely easy to take out. I have been as a standard using vandal proof domes in any situation under 10 feet. But on the other hand people vandalizing cameras is good for business. But in all seriousness a vandal proof camera will in most cases be best for longevity of the system and ensure no tampering.

    coax to ethernet

http://www.veracityusa.com/ has anyone ever used these coax to ethernet devices? They are so you can use existing coax infrastructure for ip cameras
  13. in the pictures i posted above of the vandal proof gooseneck pole mount the entire goosneck mount is non conductive. ya but when you are using a metal mount to metal building then that can cause issues as rory stated earlier.
  14. Panasonic has the most premadona support, they make you beg for the little tidbits they give you and they are rude. at first i thought so to. But after getting to know them you find out that they are extremely helpful and actually care about you getting your issue fixed. They are only a crew of 4 people. Call and ask for Aran Sacks who leads the support department or John to help you. They are really good guys who will do anything in their power to help you out.
  15. i dont think that your going to be able to play that info without having the dvr connected to the hard drive. I am not sure as I have not tried that. but would assume. Have you tried contacting pansonics tech support?
  16. here are some pics from some recent systems where we mounted cams on poles. [/img]

    April Lightning

You guys want to know something strange? On april 14th at 9:18pm we had a storm that at that exact time took out 6 cameras. I know you asking how that is that strange. Well the six cameras were at 4 different locations. They all went out at the exact same time. Keep in mind some of these locations are not even in the same city! Some locations varying in distance but average of about 7-8 miles birdsflight. In our 2 and half years in business we had not ever had a camera hit by lighting. Can you imagine how many different bolts of lightning struck around central arkansas at that exact same time? Probably alot here is arial view of the coverage. Your looking at pulaski county is which holds little rock on the south side of the river and north little rock on the north. obviously. But north little rock and little rock are entirely two different cities. Not just giving direction.
  18. yep. Exactly isolate the camera off of the ground and you solve the ground loop. Thats why i always say to use nylon screws and washers. (not on poles)
  19. well first you have to figure out who your demographics are. who are they? How old are they? Male? Female? Income? Is it a business to or an individual consumer? What is the reason they buy products that are like the product you buy. Pretty much you find out all the info you can on the person or business that you want/will be selling to. Then you figure out which market(s) you think will be the most beneficial for you to target. And then you will base your marketing off of the answers you came up from the demographics. What works in marketing for one company would most likely yield a significant difference of results for another company. The best way for us so far has been direct marketing via direct mail. But that has been done through an intense demographic search before hand. so our material gets straight to the people we want it to and not to the entire population.

    camera in key pad

we have a customer who's cameras got hit by lighting. one of them was the camera in the key pad for the access gate. it looks like a standard board camera. but what i need to figure out is what is that paste that they use to paste the camera to the faceplate with the keypad? anyone know? it looks kind of like that foam insulation you spray into area's and it expands. but i know that it is not.

    upside down playback...

i had the same problem when i tried to play back some geo files from users in this forum. Then just one day it went away.
  23. the one thing that she cant get around is the fact that in our initial paperwork we say NOTHING about installation. it only says the equipment and also "labor included". so her complaints about whats looking where and irrelevent crap has nothing to do with the fact that we delivered what was promised on the paperwork. So she will have to pay. eventually.
  24. the worst part about it is that i usually do make everyone sign a handover sheet with them puttting their initials by every single part of the check list. and then at the end siging that they are pleased and that we have completed the entire job exactly like we were suppose to. but the one time i didnt........ well you know the rest
  25. shoot we recently did a job out of state and we were to replace 11 cameras and the vcr for a 16 channel dvr. so we get there and she tells us of four cameras to swap out and says the rest are up to us where we think they shoudl go. So we install the four exactly where she wanted them and then added the rest of the 7 in various locations. Mind you this that we showed her each camera after they went up. Not one complaint! So we get done on saturday night at 9:00pm and we train her and she is pleased with everything and so we fly out at 4 sunday morning. so monday I get a call and she is yelling that NONE of the cameras are where she wanted them! And the thing that sucks about it is that she is leasing this through our leasing company. So she is rasing hell and lying about all kinds of crazy crap. So until we get this settled the leasing company cant release the 23,000 for the system! what pisses me off is she said NO complaints while we were there and now once we are on the other side of the country is when she starts complaining. I think this woman is crazy or has altheizmers. (not sure on the spelling on that) .
