Recording File Sizes D1/960h Vs. TVI

TVI is a video format, not a resolution. With TVI you would normally record at 1280x720 or 1920x1080. Recording time depends on bitrate, not on resolution. But normally if you use double the resolution, you would want to use double the bitrate (when using the same frames per second). So, if 960H is 960x576 = 0.55 megapixels, and you record at 1280x720 = 0.92 megapixels, from there you can make some numbers.

    Upgrade to HDSDI/HDCVI

Well, if you want analog video, of course it will be low resolution. If you want good quality on the live view, replace the cabling, or spend some money (HDMI over coax).

    Real-time & Non Real-time Recording?

25 fps (frames per second) at 720p, 12 fps at 1080p.
  4. You can record 4 cameras up to 6MP each, as long as the total bitrates are under 40Mbps. You won't have any problem with 2 cameras at 2MP.

    Upgrade to HDSDI/HDCVI

Use a "VGA to video" adapter, and keep the live view the current way it is now. Quality will not be HD, but if he can not replace the cabling with VGA/HDMI...

MP camera w/bnc or rca video out

Ooops, sorry about that... I didn't read that you wanted to use the analog output all the time, so you need the cable connected. You might have to do some hacking then, yes. It can be done with 2CD2732 (dome), but forget about the 2CD2632 (bullet).

MP camera w/bnc or rca video out

There is a test plug inside the camera.

MP camera w/bnc or rca video out

Hikvision's 26xx and 27xx series (varifocal bullet and varifocal dome) have analog output.
  9. So the long cable you are using is probably bad quality, use good cable.

Lorex DVR - Lost all Camera Images

You are most likely right, look for the power supply for the cameras.

    Installed wrong firmware HIKVISION NVR

Install the correct firmware using TFTP.
  12. That is NOT a DVR, it is a NVR. The audio input on the NVR is for bi-directional audio. You could put a mic there, have cameras with audio output/speakers, and be heard on the cameras. The audio input on the NVR is NOT for audio recording with the cameras. The encoding is done on each camera. If he wants 8 audio channels, he needs 8 cameras with mic or audio input.
  13. From the other thread you opened, your cameras do not have audio at all and no audio input, so it won't work with them. And "on the cheap" won't cut it. You have a LaView NVR, so you need LaView cameras if you want them to work easily with your unit. You could try to change the firmware on the NVR and cameras to Hikvision firmware, and then use Hikvision cameras. But I have no idea on how you can do that. You can also see what cameras LaView has with mic (Hikvision has many, but I do not know what models LaViews OEMs). According to their web site, the only cameras they have with audio are the indoor models (cube). http://www.laviewusa.com/product-14/camera/ip-camera.html
  14. That WON'T work. The encoding is done on the camera's end, it is the camera who encodes the stream. So if you want 8ch audio, you need 8 cameras with integrated mic, or with audio input. The microphones have to be connected to the cameras, not to the NVR.
  15. The camera bitrate settings are not stored on the NVR, but on each invididual camera. Reseting the NVR does not reset the cameras.
  16. You can playback just events from iVMS-4200. I do not think it can be done from the web interface or local playback.

Time Stamp loss when Backed up

What you see on the first screenshot seems VLC playing a video with subtitles. That "timestamp" seems to be from VLC, and not from the video. See if there are any other files on the thumbdrive that you are not copying to the computer, maybe you have one with AVI extension and one with SRT extension?
  18. You need IP cameras with integrated microphone, or with an audio input so you can use an external microphone.

  20. Yes, so you would have a 160m network link, and then an 8 port POE switch. But feel free to go fiber if you prefer doing so.
  21. I am just doing a copy+paste: According to IEEE 802.3 the max segment length for 100baseFX link is 400m for half duplex . See clause 24.1.2 of IEEE 802.3 2000 edition I really don't know where you read the maximum length for a network link is 100m, but I doubt that is the case.
  22. I think your best bet is to conect to it with IE running in compatiblity mode. If you have the CD that came with the unit, see if it has any documentation for Windows or mobile software.
  23. Do you HAVE to use fiber? With just 160m I think you might even be able to use one long run, if you use a good Cat5e/Cat6 cable. I would test it. I think 160m without POE should not be a problem.
