  1. Call them what you want. HDTVI/AHD are compatible with analog video, HDCVI is not. So, as Sunnykim said, the HDCVI units that support analog video need a a PAL/NTSC decoder chip added, which increases the cost. So there are HDCVI units that only work with HDCVI, and there are HDCVI units that work with both HDCVI and analog; while all HDTVI/AHD units work with both HDTVI/AHD and analog. So this is not correct. If the op got a HDTVI/AHD DVR, he would not need to change his cameras.
  2. I don't mean hybrid, all TVI units are back compatible with analog video. Any HDTVI unit will also take old analog cameras, and I am quite sure it is the same with AHD (I have never used AHD).
  3. The NVR does not support it. You might try to set up email sending on the camera.

    Problem connecting AHD camera

Your DVR supports 720p (1280x720) and your camera is 1080p (1920x1080), so no, they will not work toguether.
  5. Not really. TVI and AHD are back compatible with analog cameras (PAL/NTSC). All TVI/AHD DVRs can support both TVI/AHD and PAL/NTSC cameras at the same time, so there is no need to replace all the cameras. Some CVI DVRs can support both CVI and PAL/NTSC cameras, bot not all of them.

    Analogue DVR + Hikvision issue

Trying to use a HDTVI camera on an analog DVR? Nope. You either need to change your DVR to a model that supports HDTVI, or change the camera for one with analog output.

    Hikvision Decoder

    Video Decoding Channels: 5MP: 2-ch; 1080P: 4-ch; 720P: 8-ch; 4CIF: 16-ch It will NOT decode 6 1080p channels. If you want 8ch 1080p decoding, you might go for 6404 model.
  8. Do not start again... TheUberOverLord, I think Boogieman was just being sarcastic. At least I did get a laugh this time. "How to"s are always good " title="Applause" />

    CCTV bench testers/setup tool.

You will need a third unit, those won't work with HDCVI.

  11. Just checked it, email sending is working for me using Dahua/GMail on an old DVR.
  12. So many years around here, and I had not even noticed... An "ignore user" would come quite handy.
  13. Sometimes this forum needs an "ignore user" button, a "report user" button, or maybe even both of them. Now, hoping that noone will feel offended: And if someone does feel offended, hit that non existent "ignore user" button. Have a nice day!
  14. Just grab the "live view" tab and drag it to the second monitor.
  15. At what resolution and bitrate are your main streams?

    VGA extender over cat 5

Use a good quality VGA splitter, and a good quality VGA extender. What you are trying to do can be done easily.
  17. That BBWR on your serial means you have an international version, so you can flash firmwares without an issue. And yes, you do already have the latest verison for your camera, it is very recent, manufacture date 10/2015, you can see it on the box.
  18. Have you made sure all the cameras use the both system, PAL or NTSC? Most DVRs can work with both PAL and NTSC, you can change the setting, But all cameras have to be either PAL or NTSC, you can not mix them.
  19. If you want to disable audio, just edit the stream, and change it from "Video+audio" to just "Video". If you want to disable audio recording, but would still have live audio, the instead of changing the stream type go to the calendar, edit channel 1, advanced, and disable "Audio recording". Settings may vay depending your firmware.

  21. they're all 12v. Check it with a camera connected, not just by checking the voltage when there is nothing connected.
  22. The "red motion picture reel" indicates it is recording, not "motion detected".
