    Bahama Security

Don't know if the site is being mantained (6 months ago it surely was) or the owner is still in business, but he is a member of this forum. He hasn't posted since 2012. memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=29 Why do you say it is not being mantained, and that you can not sign up?
  2. I would go for TL-SL2428P, 24 POR ports for the cameras, 4 1Gbps ports for NVR, connecting to network, etc. You do not need 1Gbps for each invividual camera. I have actually used a few D-Link DES-1210-28P which are about the same.
  3. so i dont need them at the cameras end? i thought i need them on both ends to balance the line? and how would i connect it tot the camera end anyways? since i used cat5? unless i can use this at teh camera end? You DO need them at the cameras end. As they have already told you, use only one pair for video.
  4. That would be weird... SD40212S-HN is supposed to have "Audio - 1/1 channel In/Out" http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/sd404242c212s-hn-456.html

    New Security Cameras - Setup

6 cameras and a just 4ch NVR, why? You need a 8ch NVR if you want to record the 6 cameras. You do not need the NAS (unless you want to have recording in two places, in case your NVR or NAS gets stolen). Your computer does not need to be on, in fact, you do not need a computer at all. And you do not need Blue Iris or any other software if you plan on using a NVR.
  6. Try 8000. If you have a chinese camera, do not update it, you might brick it.
  7. You can capture audio of the sessions by connecting an audio to the PTZ. Keep in mind that the encoding happens on the camera end, not the NVR. Connecting audio to the NVR won't help, you need to feed the audio input on the PTZ camera that you want to have the audio toguether with the video.
  8. Camera does indeed support ONVIF. I would try updating to at least 5.2.0 or 5.2.5 to see if that helps. If you are using the integrated POE ports on the NVR, I would try to get it working first on the network.

    POE injector or POE Switch

For 6 cameras, a POE switch. It wouldn't make sense to get 6 POE injectors.

    Peculiar Crazy Problem

Would a UPS help? I would try to bring a fully charged UPS, and get everything running from that UPS (without connecting it to the customers power).

    DVR BUILT IN WIFI

You can use a 3G/4G router with any DVR. Some DVRs support a 3G/4G USB stick, but only a few, and usually with a small list of supported USB sticks.
  12. Well, so they just replied to me from screenonvif.com after more than 3 months... I don't know if this thread had anything to do with it. License for one computer costs 99EUR + tax (retail price, they didn't give me any reseller price). I think it only supports 720p (I guess it will resize whatever video you have on screen to 1280x720), and it doesn't say anything on motion detection support.
  13. Post screenshot on how yo have it.

    Reset Dahua NVR1108H

If you used "password0+", and your unit is one of the old units that limited passwords to six characters, just try "passwo".

    New to IPCAMS

The account is locked if you try a wrong password something like 3 times in a row. If that happens, you have to wait like 30 minutes before you can try again, but you can also remove power from the camera and power it up again. (that won't help much if you still do not know the password for the camera, but you can try again faster)
  16. Congrats to you both, this is one interesting thread. @jasauders, with Hikvision you can easily set up links that will launch an RTSP stream with VLC. Live view won't be a problem with Ubuntu. Playback might be. Hikvision does need a plugin to be used from a web browser. It currently works with everything under Windows, except Chrome, this is why: https://www.chromium.org/developers/npapi-deprecation Hikvision is working on newer firmwares, which are supposed to be released before the end of the year. They will bring back Chrome support, but I have no clue on how they will do it, it might also make it work without plugins on other OS, but I would not count on it. Playback; I think most CCTV systems do need some kind of custom manufacturer software for playback. Why? Because we are not just recording videos for youtube. There are other things to keep in mind on a CCTV system, like data integrity, watermarks, etc. So there have to be ways to verify that a recording has not been manipulated at all, and each manufacturer does it their own way. I can not give details, because I do not have them, but keep in mind that a recordings downloaded from a DVR/NVR are usually not just an MP4 video. Now, some systems have ways for exporting to different data formats, with Dahua when you download a recording iot gives you the option to do it with their native format (.DAV) or to export it to AVI, I guess a normal export will give you the DAVs which will have to be used with their player, and as AVI it will be reencoded as a normal AVI, which can be used with any player. With Hikvision; I usually just export and play back with VLC. But I am not sure if VLC directly supports it, or if the Hikvision codecs are needed (which probably can only be used on Windows). Feel free to PM me your email, and I will send you a sample video so you can try to play it back. There is also iVMS-4200 for Linux (Hikvision's software), but its development is always way behind the Windows version (the same applies to the Mac version).
  17. @almelst, You can use VLC to encode a desktop, and record it on any NVR that supports RTSP recording. But you won't have it easy for motion detection (some computer solutions might take care of that). Check this out. http://www.securamente.com/como-realizar-streaming-por-rtsp-de-un-escritorio-de-windows-usando-vlc/
  18. Recording a computer desktop at analog resolution, when you could just record at the original desktop resolution? A hardware solution cheaper than a software solution? You really think so?

    Get a new hard drive.
  20. I think I have posted this link before: http://www.screenonvif.com/ I saw this people at some fair. I would like to try their software, I think it is a great idea for recording any computer on any ONVIF NVR. I sent them an email a while ago interested on their software, but they never got back to me. If anyone has any news on this, please report! Hopefully sometime in the future there will be an open source project that does this
  21. Yes, 16 HDTVI cameras and 2 Hikvision IP cameras, 18 total. It does not have integrated POE ports, the IP cameras have to be on the network. And they are very easy to set up, if the IP cameras are on the same subnet.
  22. Can't recommend anything AHD; I haven't used it at all. grooster, yours is a very good unit. Use it with good 1080p HDTVI cameras, and you will have a great system.
  23. There are three used formats now; HDCVI, HDTVI and AHD (I won't count HDSDI). They are not compatible, so your cameras have to be the same format as your DVR.
