What is your upload speed, and what is the bitrate on the video feed you are trying to watch? That is probably the answer to your problem.

Is it working with a mobile connection? If so, you might have used all your available data for may. Maybe tomorrow with the new month the speed is good again.
  3. You might also want to try iVMS-4200 for Linux. http://www.hikvision.com/europe/download_more.asp?id=1327

  5. Ask yourself first what working time do I want for that mini IP cam? The smallest battery is no battery at all, which will give you 0 minutes working time . From that on, you would need to know what is the minimum working time you expect, and given the mA that your camera uses (which you will have to check) see what is the minimum battery you can use.

    CAT 7 ethernet cable?

I can't think of a reason why you would want to use anything better than copper Cat6 at the moment, and in most cases you do not even need/want that. But if you don't mind the price, surely you can use Cat7.

    networking newbie (pics)

Lease it at 90/10554/8080, that is nice. And then when you try to access with web browser from your local network add the web port at the end, http://192.168.1.138:90 How are you configuring iVMS-4500 to access from outside the network? Do you have fixed IP address? Or by chance you are trying to use the internal IP, 192.168.1.138? If you do not have fixed IP, configure DDNS like the following: - Enable DDNS: checked - DDNS: provider HiDDNS - Server address: www.hik-online.com - Domain: whatever_name_ you_want_to_use Then for accessing from outside your network you will be using: http://www.hik-online.com/whatever_name_ you_want_to_use And on iVMS-4500, your device config: - Register mode: HiDDNS - Server: www.hik-online.com - Device name: whatever_name_ you_want_to_use etc
  8. To those of you having this problems, the answer is probably always "you are doing it wrong". But if you do not even provide the minimum details, there's no way to help you. You need to be able to tell the difference between recording locally on the computer, and on the camera/NVR. You need to be able to tell the difference between playing back locally, and on the camera/NVR. You need to be able to tell the difference between local users, and recorder/camera users. You need to be able to tell the difference for when you are configuring settings locally, or on the camera. And so on. You know what the error "Playback failed ivms-4200.exe[317] error code, no record found" means? Well, that there are no records to playback, so that means you just have not set up recording right.
  9. I read this comment from buellwinkle on this post, but since my question is not related to the thread, I prefer to open a new one: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=36710 I recently finished installing out test Hikvision equipment, DS-7608NI-SE with 8 different cameras, 4 of them from Hikvision and 4 ONVIF. One of the cameras is a DS-2CD2132-I unit, and when the IR kicks on, the image quality is quite bad. So I remembered this post, and I was wondering if this is the "light bleed issues" he was referring to. Image is great with light, bad on IR mode. I also have a DS-2CD2032-I which is pretty much the same camera, but in bullet format instead of dome. And the image is quite different on this one. They are both pretty much configured the same way. Do I have a defective unit? Or they are all like this, and Hikvision just has issues that needs to resolve on this model? I will receive another DS-2CD2132-I tomorrow so I will compare how it is, since I do not know if it is a software or hardware issue, but I would like to hear from those who have tried this unit.
  10. Just take a look at the green connector, the pinout is written there.

    Hikvision DS-7816HW-SH

I think that DS-78xxHWI-SH is the domestic market version of the DS-72xxHWI-SH. If that is so, those models only have available chinese firmwares, so I hope you know chinese... What firmware did you try to use? Was your unit in english? You might be able to recover it with TFTP, but you would need to find the right firmware for your unit first, and if it had been previously hacked to english, now it will be back to chinese only.
  12. Then install them the right way, or do not install them at all. You might not find them on the ground after one hour, but if you do a poor installation job, just wait for a windy day to come...
  13. Change default ports. Change passwords. You can even lock the admin account to work only from a given IP address. Create a guest account with just the privileges you need to work over internet.
  14. Config -> Network -> Email and Config -> Exceptions -> Illegal login -> Send email
  15. Of course doing a port scan on those ports shows them as open, you opened them yourself, otherwise you would not be able to watch your own cameras. Your password could easily be broken? Change the default 12345 password to something stronger. Set up your NVR to send emails, and email you in case of any login failed attempt. Still feeling paranoid? Use a VPN to connect to your unit.

    External HD & DVR

Check the manual for DVR, since most units do not allow recording on the external USB HD. The USB port is usually only for backups, but not for direct recording of the video feeds.
  17. You could actually get it configured right with iVMS. But since it seems you didn't do it, and if you do not want to record locally on the computer, yes, it would be easier to just use the web interface on the NVR.

Does SDI camera could connect AHD DVR?

    Nope, you need HDSDI recorder.

    Video Format Issues - Hikvision

Use Hikvision's "Video Format Convert Tool", or Hikvision's "VSPlayer". I think both of them will allow you to convert the native Hikvision format to something else (DivX, whatever) and work from there.

Choosing the right DVR in the UK

DS-7208HWI-SH *DOES* have alarm inputs! And everything else you are asking for. It should be like this on the back. DS-7208HWI-SH/A is exactly the same as DS-7208HWI-SH, but with 4 audio channels instead of just 1. DS-7208HGHI-SH is an HDTVI unit. It does support push.

    HD CVI color quads?

Use the cheapest HCVR HDCVI DVR you can find, without a hard disk installed.
  22. That's not an issue, so I doubt nothing at all will be addressed. You are just asking for a feature that they do not offer.
  23. You can go for a hybrid system. Hikvision and Dahua both have 16ch analog + 16ch IP systems, and I am sure there must be more. Hikvision DS-7616HI-ST comes to mind. http://www.hikvision.com/Es/products.asp?cid=29 You could also look for a 32ch HDTVI unit, or 32ch HDCVI universal (you would need to make sure it supports analog), but I do not know if there are any.
