  1. Try to access the device from a web browser, and playback some videos from there to make sure everything is being recorded ok. If you are having troubles iwth iVMS-4200, it would help if you make screenshots of exactly what you are doing.

    Recommendations for 16ch 1080p dvr

That's for 720P camera system and it needs 720P TVI cameras from Hilkvision. Am I right? It is actually either 720p@25fps or 1080p@12fps each channel.
  3. If using EZVIZ, you do not need to add any device on iVMS-4500. Just log in with your EZVIZ account, and you will see your devices.
  4. You can't. You need either a "VGA to video" adapter, and then use the balun; or change the baluns for a "VGA over UTP" extender. This last one would provide you with a way better image quality, but you need to make sure that the monitor in the kitchen also has VGA input. The image quality with this cable might be bad. You might need to end up buying a "VGA splitter" that connects to power.

Can I connect my DVR to my old annalog TV?

Your DVR only has VGA and HDMI outputs. So either you look for something with VGA or HDMI input, or yes, you will need an adapter.

Can I connect my DVR to my old annalog TV?

Yes, and the cables. VGA cable from DVR to adapter; the "VGA to video" adapter; RCA cable from the adapter to your TV. You are looking for something like this (a moment of spam; that is our web site): http://www.securame.com/convertidor-video-vga-rca-bnc-svideo-tv502a-vga-to-video-p-473.html We sell this product, something like that is all you would need, since it already comes with the VGA and RCA cables.

Can I connect my DVR to my old annalog TV?

You *DO* need a VGA to video adapter. Either that, or buy a monitor with VGA or HDMI inputs.

Can I connect my DVR to my old annalog TV?

Then you will need an VGA to analog adapter (PAL/NTSC). Google "vga to video" and you will find many options.
  9. PSS = old software, Smart PSS = new software. PSS is not being developed any more, so any new features that make it on Smart PSS will not make it on PSS. If you are fine with what PSS offers for now, feel free to keep using it. If you haven't used it before and will be using PSS for the first time, I would go with Smart PSS.
  10. Then if it does have a lan cable, you won't needing a ladder. Just plug your laptop on the other end of the cable. Since there will be nothing else on the network, you will need to configure manually the network on your computer, so it is on the same subnet of the IP camera and it can reach it. If your camera is, let's say, 192.168.1.50, you can configure your laptop with IP 192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0. There is no need for gateway or DNS servers, since you won't be going online. Once both laptop and camera are on the same subnet, you can connect to the camera with a web browser, change the wifi settings on the camera so it connects to the new wifi network, and you are done
  11. If it is using wifi now, you should have changed the camera config from the old wifi to the new wifi before geting rid of the old router. If the old wifi network is gone, and the camera only has a power connector (it does not have a network cable connected), then I think it is time to get a laptop and a ladder.

    Monitor display

I can't try locally with my Dahua now, but how about trying a "double click" on the video feed, to see if it goes to full screen?

strange red green and yellow lines?

Well, if those lines had been there from day one, I would say you are using a rear view camera (you know, the ones you use on cars, trucks, etc). Maybe you turned on an option to display those lines somehow on either the camera or DVR?

    Where is Hikvision download stored?

You also have Hikvision player, so there's no need to convert the videos; and Hikvision codecs, so you just install them on your system, and use any regular video player.
  17. A NVR does not encode the video; the camera does. So if you want to record a video stream with audio, you need a camera with audio input, and you need to connect the mic to the audio input on the camera, not on the NVR.
  18. What app are you trying to use? How are you configuring it?
