    Cable Length 12V

That will depend on the material of the UTP cable; the width of the cable; the quality of the power supply; the AMP requirements of the camera you are installing; etc... So, to answer the question, you have to try it. With the cable you are using on your installs, with the power supply you are using, the cameras you are using, and so on.
  2. 2MP model has 1/2.8" sensor. 3MP model has 1/3" sensor. With the same lens, bigger sensor = wider FOV.
  3. If you mean hik-online.com/hiddns.com , it has been working fine for me. But I do think that the web interface has been very slow lately, so maybe it is time for them to do some hardware upgrades...

    Unbranded DVR

Wow, how old is that, does it even have a RJ45 network connection on the back? I have not seen a DVR with a CD in years. I doubt you can get anything to connect to that unit. Android? Windows 7? Maybe they did not even exist when that DVR was manufactured. You might be lucky with some old version of Internet Explorer on Windows 98 or Windows XP, but I doubt it is worth the hassle. It will probably be easier to just get a modern unit, a 4ch DVR is cheap.
  5. No, they don't. You have all models without POE ports, and some of them also with integrated POE switch. I always prefer to buy the POE switch myself. Why? The included POE switch is usually more expensive. The included POE switch makes it difficult to access the cameras web interface. The included POE switch is tied to the NVR, which means that upgrading the NVR in the future will force you to buy a new POE switch (or again, another NVR with integrated POE switch). The included POE switch forces you to get the UTp cable for a given camera all the way to wherever the NVR is.

    Bricked Hikvision DS 7616 SE?

You can probably recover it with TFTP, you will need to download the old firmware first.

IP Camera Setup Tool Advice Needed

Only 3 attachments allowed per message. Here is last pic with everything assembled, I just have to plug the 2.1mm and the RJ45 connectors to the camera I want to use, and turn on the battery

IP Camera Setup Tool Advice Needed

This is what I use. A TP-Link nano router, which I can power with a small battery. The battery has 5V USB output, which I can use to power the nano router (or to charge my mobile phone), and also has a 12V output, which I can use to power up the camera. The router creates me a small wi-fi network, and I connect to it with a Nexus 10 tablet, which has 1920x1080 resolution. I can use it for doing demos, for pointing cameras to the correct place, for focusing varifocal cameras, etc.
  10. Keep in mind you need 1 POE port for each camera, 1 port for the NVR, 1 port for connecting to the rest of the network/internet. So, if you are only going to use 14 POE cameras, yes, you can use a 16 port POE switch. It would be cool to have at least 1Gbps port for the NVR; 100mbps might not be enough in some scenarios. You can also get an NVR with 8 POE ports, and then use an extra 8 port POE switch. For 16ch cameras, I usually use D-Link DES-1210-28P (managed switch, 24 100mbps POE ports 100mbps, 2 1gbps ports that I use for NVR and network). Do not mess "channels" and "ports". An 8 channel NVR will only allow you to use 8 cameras, no matter hoe many network ports you have.
  11. My advice; forget about NVRs with integrated POE ports, and get a POE switch. Or just use the integrated POE ports, and any more cameras you will need an extra switch (I do not like POE switches integrated inside the NVR). Can't help you with a browser under OS X, but you could use iVMS-4200 for OS X. I think you can do everything, or almost everything from there.

    DVR Hikvision RTSP problem

If you have not done so, try the latest firmware, 3.0.1 if I remember right. I have used RTSP with this model, but not for a long time, I have never tried for more than a few minutes.
  13. My bad. I pointed you to encoders, instead of decoders...! Decoders should be DS-63xx and DS-64xx series. I think DS-6304DI would be the cheaper option. http://www.hikvision.com/Es/products.asp?cid=41 http://www.hikvision.com/Es/products.asp?cid=283 (the links point to the spanish web site, on the english web site the category says it is under construction)
  14. You won't find NVRs with a BNC output; I have not seen any. You might find one with a BNC output...? Maybe, but surely not with 4 BNC outputs. Oh wait, you don't want an NVR, you want hybrid (3 IP camera, 1ch analog). With Hikvision you could use an hybrid like DS-7604HI-ST, and then a decoder to output 4 streams on 4 BNC outputs, like DS-6704HWI.
  16. I think it should work without a problem.
  17. I only have Android, and in both gDMSS (Nexus 4) and gDMSS HD (Nexus 10) I do get to see all events always. I do not need to have the app open. If the app is closed, I will get the push notification. When I open the app, on the event list I will see all events in there. I think it should be the same on iOS.
  18. I don't see why connecting the cube camera on the PORT port or the NVR, or the IP changing, would make it lose the configuration. Make sure it is on DHCP; on your network it should get an IP assigned by your router, on the NVR it should get an IP assigned by the POE switch. But once configured, I think the configuration should stay.

    dahua Dvr Not detecting motion

On the second screenshot. Period -> setup -> make sure it is configured 7 days a week, from 0 to 24h. You have "record channel" ticked. Just on the right you have "Setup", go in there, and make sure it is configured that motion on channel 6 actually triggers recording on channel 6. For tests, mark the check on "Buzzer" on the bottom, so the DVR will "beep" when there is motion on the channel, and you will know it is detecting motion ok.
  20. Never used wowza, but why not just start the free trial to see how it works? I think it should work with most known IP cameras, and you should have no problem to get it working with any camera that at least supports RTSP.

    Best camera for under £100

So, you want an analog camera, with wide angle, that can see license plates at 20-30m... sure, good luck on your search.
  22. LOL, you already got a reply, but when I checked the link the first thing I thought was "wtf has he purchased!?" Buy a real POE injector, or a small POE switch.

    Best camera for under £100

Not gonna happen. If you want a wide angle, you are not going to see a license plate at 30m. I am sure you will soon be recommended the Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I.

    Balun hub right usage

You could also do that on the other end. The balun hub (I do not even know if its called like that) just makes connections easier, and you end up having a smaller cable mess.
  25. The green connector is DC12V, it should have +/- marks. The other two wires must be AC24V. The cable with the video connector; that is for when you are mounting the camera in place, it will have a video connector inside. That way you can connect a small screen to it to adjust the camera positioning, OSD Menus, etc. Edit: No, wait... I guess you had not bothered looking at the manual, neither did I. the green connector is for both DC12V and AC24V. The orange/white wires are for RS485, for controlling the OSD menus remotely.
