  1. That's me, yup. That is great. I did try it, and with iVMS-4200 I can do search for motion (that's actually the hint I needed). On the web interface I think it can not be done, but it can with iVMS-4200 which is great. Thanks!

    Question about Grandstream Audio

The audio input/output is for installing an external microphone and/or speaker. You do not need to run a cable from the camera to your recording equipment. Keep in mind that if you do want audio, you will need to install a microphone.

Research on how P2P works, or just try it yourself. CCTV P2P is based on the same networking concepts as file sharing programs.

Connecting to the camera is slower; once you are connected it should be the same.

I do still use PSS myself

There you go, it does have alarm output.

First time I tried Smart PSS it was crap. Every time it is geting better and they are adding the new capabilities. I am quite sure PSS is not being developed any more, there is no reason to develop two programs that do the same.

Can't tell you, sorry, I do not use Smart PSS. I have tried it, but it seemed lacking; like it was still beta, in development, I think it is still missing features.

For Dahua, you have to use SmartPSS for P2P access. PSS does not support P2P (and I doubt they will update PSS any more).
  10. With Hikvision? Please ellaborate, since I am quite sure that can not be done (or at least I have never been able to do it). You can not even do two overlaping programming periods. If you try to do from 00 to 24 continuous recording, and from 06 to 18 motion recording, it will not allow you to save the schedule.

Hikvision and Dahua do. Not all of them, it depends on the software. That NVR does not have alarm inputs/outputs; at least not on the back. No idea on what a "alarm box" is, something you buy if needed? You should ask them, or check the manual of the unit. The RS485 is for PTZ cameras, not related to alarms.

P2P is not better; but it is easier. When connecting to a device with P2P, connection is slower. You are also relaying on third parties (which means that sometime in the future p2P for your device might actually stop working). For the end user, sure they prefer to scan a QR code with their phones, and be done with it. My devices? I know all of their IPs and have all the needed ports open, because I do know how to do it. I will not use P2P myself, but I understand why many people want it. No idea on what "cloud id" is. And if any ISP does not allow to forward any ports, I would just switch ISPs.
  13. Will check it. Thanks! Edit: readme.txt inside Firmware Version: v5.2.0_141024 Compatible Models: DS-2CD2412F-IW, DS-2CD2432F-IW, DS-2CD2512F-IWS, DS-2CD2532F-IWS Update Information: 1. Fixed plug&play does not work bug with DC power input. 2. Fixed WiFi cannot connection bug when upgrade to v5.2.0_140721 via wifi.
  14. Strange. On displays with many cameras, iVMS-4200 changes stream when you make a camera full stream. That is, when you are viewing the camera small, you are actually seeing the substream. When you double click the camera to make it full screen, after a moment you will see the feed change from substream to main stream. Sometimes I have seen IP cameras take a while to show up, but if the connection/network is good, there should be no problem. And if you can see the main stream, you should not have a problem with the substream.
  15. You do not need to "add" any cameras, since you already have them added (they show automatically when using the POE ports). It can not find any camera, that is correct, since all the cameras you have are already added (it can not find any more cameras on the network). If you go to the PTZ tab, you might get a message saying that, since you do not have any PTZ cameras. You will not flip the image on the PTZ tab...

That is called P2P (peer to peer).

Both Hikvision and Dahua, first screenshot is Hikvision iVMS-4500, second is Dahua gDMSS. You have to look for devices with alarm outputs.

    remote trigger access

Here is how to do it from iVMS-4500 (mobile/Hikvision) and DMSS (mobile/Dahua). When you are using a device with alarm outputs, you can turn them on/off manually. The Hikvision device I am using has 4 alarm outputs, the Dahua device has 3 alarm outputs. You can also do so from the tablet version of each program (iVMS-4500 HD and DMSS HD) and from computer (iVMS-4200 and PSS/Smart PSS). From web interface I think you can only do it with Dahua, at least with Hikvision I have not found the option.
  19. Oh, thought so... A 24ch Hikvison would have been quite rare. I think the only 24ch/32ch model Hikvision manufactures is the 73xx series, which is not cheap: http://www.hikvision.com/europe/Products_show.asp?id=9865 You could also use 2 16ch. From Hikvision software you can replay channels from both at the same time, but from the web interface you would not be able to do so. You have lower models, but 7216HWISH is a good unit. http://www.hikvision.com/europe/Products_show.asp?id=9631 From Dahua you also have 32ch units, but I can not tell you about their software, I hardly use it.

You can do so easily with any Hikvision and Dahua device that has alarm outputs (be it DVR, NVR, IP camera). Sound a siren, strobe light, open/close a gate, turn on/off lights, etc. You can do it from mobile, tablet, and PC.
  21. iVMS-4500 should connect to the PC with iVMS-4200 PC NVR, or to every single camera if you only want to see live video (and no recordings). For the first case, you need to port forwad the needed ports to the PC NVR. For the second case, you would need to port forward to each one of the cameras, which would be a bit of a mess. By the way, your network config sucks. Two subnets? And a computer connected to two wifi networks? Really?
  22. I doubt they do any recording. They seem to just be taking a snapshot of the camera whener you try to see it, that is why the site loads so slow. I did watch some snapshots, and they all showed the current date/time. I do not think they have any reasons to keep any screenshots/recordings. I also have my devices warning me when there is a failed login attempt. I never get any warnings (I do not use default ports). What I have seen is that a failed login attempt on the device does email me a warning, but a failed login attempt on the RTSP ports does not. So if someone tried the default login/passwords on any of my open RTSP ports, I think I would not even notice.
  23. What Hikvision model do you have? Do you playback from the web interface, or from iVMS-4200? With current models you can easily playback at 2x 4x and 8x. From both web interface (IE, Firefox, Chrome) and iVMS-4200. You do get a list of files, but also a nice time bar where you can easily move.
  24. Oh, ok! I thought you meant that you had already got it working before, but did not post back. Nevermind then! I still have not tried. I do have some RTSP cameras, but I have no need for recording them. Did you try if you can do motion detection with RTSP? (I guess you can not)
