Help with type of Coax to use

Agree. You have been told by several members to use RG59, but you are still asking if you should be using RG6...
  2. Yes, Cat5e is a kind of UTP cable. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twisted_pair You could also use Cat6, but unless the distances are huge it is not needed, you can go for cheaper Cat5e.
  3. For accessing with a web browser you need to use the web port (by default 80), not the data port (by default 8000). First time you access the camera you will need to install an ActiveX, which might be tricky. You might want to use Chrome or Firefox, I think it is easier (the first time it will make you download an EXE file, and run it one time).
  4. 1. I would advise you against those 3Tb Green HDs; if using WD, go for Purple or Red. Besides the computer, you need the network equipment and cameras. 2. Any network topology will do. You probably want to look at a switch with POE ports to make it easier, so the switch can power the cameras, and you will only need to run one UTP cable to each camera. 3. W7 x64 will be ok. i can not recommend on the software.

    Dahua Phone App

Of course it does work without wifi. You might want to do a speed test on your mobile internet connection. Try to download "speedtest.net" program from Google Play and see what results you get.
  6. Well... The 2CD3132 is not a PTZ camera, so do not expect it to move much, no matter how hard you click on the arrows. You might want to take the camera (with your hands), and point it wherever you want it to look at.
  7. Maybe it is not the router's fault, but the ISPs. They might be blocking traffic on port 554 maybe? I would try to change RTSP port to something different than 554.
  8. 50 feet is ok. It depends on several factors (cable quality, materials, AWG, power that the camera needs, etc), but 50 feet should be no problem at all.
  9. 1. I don't think you can do that if you want to record 24/7 motion detection. You could do it if you record 24/7, and just send emails from 2AM to 6AM. You could also record 24/7 motion, and use external PIR sensors to send emails on a given time frame. 2. Each device has a maximum number of channels it can stream. Like, if your device supports 20, if you are watching all channels on a computer, you will only be able to watch 4 on another device. 3. I think when you send email with snapshots, it will send you 3 JPG with a 2 second time difference. 4. Your device does not support cloud. 5. Yes, you can choose on what areas will or won't detect motion.
  10. Maybe multichannel playback will solve it for you? Like, you have camera 1-4, but only channel 1 has the audio recorded. When you do playback, if you want to playback channel 4, you pñlayback at the same time channel 1 with the audio. I know it is not the best solution, but... What you are asking for really does make sense. The audio stream is lightweight, so it would not be a biog problem to record it several times with different video feeds.

IP cameras and Dahua Tribrid DVR

Why can't you see them on the web viewer? I have a hybrid Dahua (16ch analog + 16ch IP) and I can see any channel on the web interface.
  12. I think it is not possible, at least not easily. There are many different protocols when adding a device (ONVIF and many manufacturers), but no RTSP. I would love it if someone says otherwise...
  13. You need to know what software to use, and not just try random Android CCTV programs. Check your DVR documentation or the CD that came with it.

    Download Dahua Smart Player

Well, doh... How about trying on Dahua's web page? The same place where you had to go find the latest version of PSS? http://www.dahuasecurity.com/download_12.html
  15. If you are not happy with a DVR, you will think a USB capture device is crap. I would tell you to avoid them completely...

    Dahua Password Limit

I think all Dahua's I have used have a 6 character limit. It sucks, but I got used to it...
  17. I do not know what coputry you are from, you should contact a Hikvision dealer (in fact, you should contact whoever you got the unit from). You can also try with CBX on the forum.
  18. As I said, you have not even tried. What you are asking for is trivial, one minute browsing the configuration and you would have found it. Web interface -> Configuration -> User management -> "Add" or "Modify" an account, and assign the permissions you want them to have (like, remote preview channels 1-4, but not the rest). Having different output on the HDMI and VGA ports, you need to do it locally.
  19. Yes to both. You really haven't tried much...
  20. Post a picture of what you got. If it is what I think, to use them you have to crimp the RJ45 connector that goes on the UTP cable that reaches the camera. You can't use them with premade cables.

    H.264 DVR Instructional Help?

If you check "regular", you will be recording all the time. You should be using "detect", and then configure motion detection.
  22. Strange that you still have not been banned, hope it doesn't take too long.
  23. You have to look at the total Mbps the NVR can handle; on this model, 80Mbps. You can share those 80Mbps how you like amongst all the cameras, so you could do 16 cameras at 5Mbps each. Or maybe you could do 4 cameras at 8Mbps, 4 cameras at 5Mbps, and 8 cameras at 3.5Mbps. Etc. The bitrate is not completely related to the resolution. You can have a 2Mp camera at 5Mbps, and a 3Mp camera also at 5Mbps; of course, on the 3Mp camera the compression will be higher to be able to have 50% more resolution on the same bitrate. You can have a camera looking somewhere with little movement at 3Mpbs, and a camera looking at a place with a lot of movement at 10Mbps. Yes, thay can do both up to 1920x1080. Image quality will be the same (but VGA does not support audio).
  24. As I said, you can do it. If you have the password of your neighbour's wifi, and the router password so you can open ports, that is. And the knowledge to do it, of course....
  25. Resolution and fps is not completely related to bitrate. And bitrate is unrelated to the interface max speed. 100mbps is the network interface speed on each of the ports, it doesn't matter if you only use 5-10mbps for each camera. DS-7716NI-SP has HDMI and VGA output, up to 1920x1080 each. So you can connecto two monitors and have them show different cameras (those monitors will need VGA and HDMI input, of course; no analog monitors).
