  1. It detects it for you. Your public IP, that is, which I hope is the one you are trying to connect to when you are outside your wifi.
  2. Good to know I am not the only one. The green grid on live view is cool, it is useful to see where in the image the camera is detecting movement at a given moment. It came up sometime after a firmware upgrade. But now for whatever reason it is not being shown any more... I just don't know how it appeared, how it disappeared, or how to get it back
  3. Something is wrong in there, the router and DVR have the same IP...? Is that a mistake, and the router is 192.168.1.254? You can go to http://www.canyouseeme.org to check if something is seen on ports 8080 and 8888.
  4. Not really sure if that is the option. I just checked 3 of my cameras, I do have the "Dynamic Analysis for Motion" checked, but I do not see the grid when seeing them live view (camera's web interface, not the NVR). One has 5.1.0, the other have 5.1.6. I am not sure how to get the grid to show, since I do remember seeing it many times on several cameras...

    OSD joystick placement.

"Up the coax". You will be able to control the OSD menus on the cameras from the DVR end of the cable.

    OSD joystick placement.

    Buy cameras that support UTC.
  7. Use VLC, and access the cameras over RTSP. You can create a VLC shortcut for each camera.
  8. It can't. If the bandwidth is 160mbps you have to split it amongst the cameras. Like 64 cameras at 2.5mbps, or 32 cameras at 3mbps and 32 cameras at 2mbps, etc.
  9. Well... Nope. The 32ch model won't do 40 cameras, it will do 32. And the 64ch will record/show up to 64 cameras. So choose the one you need depending on the maximum number of cameras you will be using, if you think you will ever need more than 32, then go for the 64ch model.
  10. What a sad coincidence. I am just throwing away a card like this today, after doing some cleanup. I used to have 3 units (4ch 8ch and 16ch). We bought them a few years back as a sample to test. They were junk, so we just left them around the shop for display. I threw away the boxes and CDs just yesterday morning.... The chip is not a BT878, I know that for sure. hik ds-7800 dvr

I think the DS-7800 series is a China only model, it is not sold outside China. It is just for local market. You probably won't find international firmware, english manual, etc, everything is in english. http://www1.hikvision.com/cn/search.aspx?id=1&key=ds-78 You might try to just use the device from iVMS-4200.
  12. "Dahua IPC-HDBW2200E 1080P HD Outdoor IR Mini Dome Review" "IP66 Rated Outdoor Dome" http://www.dahuasecurity.com/es/products/ipc-hdbw2200e-705.html Φ110mm×81mm (no idea on how that translates to inches) Those two are nice units, I have them both. Image quality wise I would say they are exactly the same. 2CD2132 probably has better vision at night (IR). 2CD2532F is quite smaller than 2CD2132, and you have it with audio, alarms, maybe it even has micro SD card slot? You will be fine with any of them.

    Two NVR's on same network

Haven't tried, but I think it should work. With Hikvision NVRs you can connect to a stream from a DVR, I am sure you must also be able to connect to a NVRs stream. If you connect to the second NIC on the first NVR, or if your network is configured properly, no, it would not slow down the network.
  14. I guess this is it? Hikvision DS-7616HI-ST, hybrid system, it does 16ch analog and 16ch IP. It will allow you to keep all your current cameras and add IP cameras as you want (add, or replace existing analog cameras for IP cameras). http://www.securame.com/grabador-hibrido-hikvision-ds7616hist-16ch-video-wd1-200fps-4ch-audio-16ch-ip-80mbps-h264-vga-hdmi-satax2-alarmas-p-1524.html That is surely a good unit, I do not think you will regret geting it. Hikvision software is nice (Win, Mac, iOS, Android, Explorer, Firefox, Chrome...). Hardware should run with no problem 24/7 for years without giving you headaches.
  15. Well, I actually could have said "you can use an AP to turn any wired network device into a wireless network device (DVR, network camera, or whatever)". I think it can be understood
  16. Many times the manuals are generic; they give the same manual with different models. And some have more options than others. Maybe the manual also has a section abaout alarm inputs which your DVR doesn't have, etc.. So if your DVR doesn't have snapshot, there is probably little you can do, besides changing it for another unit.
  17. You can use an Access Point to turn any wired DVR into wireless.
  18. Then how do you expect anyone to know?
  19. You do have iVMS-4200 for Mac, get it from Hikvision web site -> support -> download -> client. I think it is actually called "compatibility view". Google something like "internet explorer compatibility view", I do not use Win8. If you do have already v3.2 there is nothing to update, you already have the latest firmware for your device (and there won't be any newer firmwares). Can't help there. Feel free to post screenshots on your email config.
  20. iVMS-4500 defaults to SUBSTREAM. When you are live viewing the camera, you can change the stream using the icons beneath the live view. Port 8000 is for both main and substream. So, if the program is crashing, it is not due to the fact that you are watching the substream.
  21. http://www.hikvisioneurope.com/portal/index.php?dir=Product%20Firmware/Recorder/Z%20Phased-out/DS-73xx%2081xx-S/ 7316HI-S is an old device, a firmware upgrade won't make it work with Win8 (last firmware is from 2011). Try using Internet Exlorer in compatibility mode (some old firmwares only work with IE up to version 9). If that doesn't work, I would just use iVMS-4200 client for Windows. Use GMail to send. Check out this guide, it is in spanish but it should be good enough, look at the second screenshot. http://www.securamente.com/como-mandar-emails-por-smtp-desde-un-dvr-o-camara-ip-utilizando-gmail/

    Ethernet options

You can put it in the garage and run just one cable. Use a switch (or an old hub if you have one around), not a router.

    Dahua PTZ Installation

http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/sd65220230s220-hni-472.html That camera does work with Pelco-P/D. I think that it should be working with an "analog" keyboard, and I think that most decent PTZ IP cameras must have input for RS485 wiring.
  24. iVMS-4500 is the app you should be using. Note; it does not work with the latest release of iOS8, if you have already updated to iOS8 you will have to wait for Hikvision to update iVMS-4500, it should be here by the end of the month.
