  1. A ping on the camera's IP address gives you any results?
  2. You do not need to touch the router if for now you are just testing inside the lan. You can change the web port and then access the camera like http://192.168.1.56:9821/ (if the IP on the camera is 192.168.1.56 and the web port is 9821). iVMS-4200 does not use the web port; it uses the data port (by default, 8000). The fact that SADP does not show the unit does not seem good to me.
  3. Use SADP (Search Active Devices Protocol software) from Hikvision to find the camera on your network and see what is the current port. You probably have SADP on the CD that camera with your camera, or you can download it from Hikvision web site.

UTP cable with no video balun

You have to use a balun.
  5. You can download Hikvision tools, it has a disk calculator.
  6. And you should also be able to download everything from iVMS-4200; I do not know if there is any way to automate the job with it.
  7. Noooooo... I was really looking forward to try one of these cameras I am not sure I understand what you said there (I am not native english), can you rephrase please?

    Thoughts on this camera

That is a very old Hikvision model (discontinued). Forget about it, unless you get it almost for free.
  9. It is not advisable to do so, but yes, you can.

Who makes who in the world of IP cameras?

    Hikvision IS the manufacturer.
  11. That is great! What version is that screenshot from?

    What the heck is it

No, no "definitely". And no, the fact that you can see it does not mean that it can see you.

    What the heck is it

Traffic camera maybe? It does not seem to be a PTZ camera, seeing it points down, it could be a camera for counting cars.
  14. I doubt they will. It has been this way for as long as I can remember. Nothing to fix when there is nothing broken...
  15. You can set it to transparent on the config. I agree that it should not be so hard to make a setting on the config so the white/black changes can be disabled, but it has never bothered me too much.

    What is 4K

You still need to decode the stream. Your monitor won't change that. Of course you do, that's why I would rather use a 1080p secondary stream, than 4K main stream.

    Mini nvr questions

I don't have it any more, sorry.
  18. I am pretty sure this would work fine. Maybe, just maybe, you would need to use RS485 for the PTZ, but I do think it should work out of the box with ONVIF.

    What is 4K

So the need for double and triple stream cameras. I do not even have a 4k display, so I would not even have the need to decode one single 4K stream, not to say several of them... But a secondary stream of 1080p, and even a third stream for mobile viewing would be nice.
  20. That probably means that you have open/forwarded the data/mobile port, but not the web port...
  21. ok thanks i'll try to look into those. any model in particular you'd recommend? Hikvision 7616HI-ST (16ch analog WD1@25fps, 16ch IP) Dahua DVR1604HF-U (16ch analog D1@25fps, 16ch IP) I am sure there is something newer from Dahua, like 7816, but this is the latest hybrid from Dahua I have used (it is not a new unit). I would recommend the 7616.

    Analog DVR Playback

Try iVMS-4200 for playback from a computer. For playback it is way better than using he web interface.
  23. You call 30 feet a choke point...??
  24. Then try what I asked and find out.
