Color dome camera only shows black and white image?
Securame replied to Brucifer's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Try it on a place with more light; or take a flashlight, and point it to the camera to see if it changes to color mode. -
Use a PC with Windows.

Looking for advice on DVR/cameras and few other questions

I am sure there can be many answers hgere, but I work mainly with Hikvision and Dahua systems. Nice quality for the price you pay. They both do have hybrid systems. -
How to take screenshot in Hikvision SDK?
Securame replied to lisa.thomas's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Then what do you have? Hikvision analog cameras? Hikvision DVR? If you expect someone to help you it would be nice to give some info, and not just let people take wild guesses... The solution above also works with Hikvision DVRs and NVRs. -
You need to know first what program you have to use on your iPod to view the cameras. Check your DVR documentation, CD if it came with any, or ask whoever you bought it from.

Go for a hybrid system. You should be able to get a system that supports something like 16 analog channels + 16 IP megapixel channels. -
How to take screenshot in Hikvision SDK?
Securame replied to lisa.thomas's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Are they IP cameras? I think all modern Hikvision firmwares have an URL from where you can get a snapshot of the camera easily just with an http call. Check this out, it is in spanish but it should help you out: http://www.securamente.com/como-obtener-un-screenshot-de-un-dvr-o-camara-ip-hikvision-con-una-url/ -
Extracting data off Hikvision DVR?
Securame replied to flyingllama87's topic in General Digital Discussion
Just for your information, you can also do it from iVMS-4000 and iVMS-4200 software on a compyter; with it you can download not just single files, but time intervals (like, 21/Apr/2014 from 04:00 to 22/Apr/2014 09:00). -
Some of them are; the cheapest units are not. If you only record with movement detection, you won't be stressing the HD as much as if you record all cameras 24/7.
-
Do you know what brand and model of HD the DVR has installed? If you have been using it non stop for 6 months, you might have very well killed the HD if it is a cheap model. I would also try to use the HD on a computer. If you do need to buy a new HD, get one that is ready for 24/7 operation.

I agree with shockwave199, that Hikvision camera is a nice option. It does not have battery included, so you will need a power outlet near, or a small 12V battery for those cases when you might want to put it somewhere where you have no power.
-
I doubt EagleEyes will work with that, EagleEyes is for AV-Tech units. Why are you trying it? Check your DVR documentation to know what Android software you have to use, or ask the seller.
-
What is your DVR? I think EagleEyes only works with AV-Tech devices. Also; the web port is usually not used when accessing from a client software.

That is 3840x2160 resolution; 4 times more detail than 1080p (1920x1080).

LOL... You really do enjoy playing with the guts of your Hikvision products

HDD Capacity randomly reduces
Securame replied to knightblackboat's topic in General Digital Discussion
That might be for a number of reasons... - You might be recording with variable bit rate. That will make the recordings on a camera with a lot of movement take up more HD than a camera with little movement. - You might be recording with motion detection. The more movement, the more recordings, so it will use more HD. - Cameras might be configured with different resolutions, different frame rates, etc. Anyway, HD space does not "reduce". The fact that two recordings last 60 minutes with the same settings, does not even mean that they will use the same storage space on HD. -
It does not show any lights. No blinking led. The IR leds can not be seen. On a dark place, you can have the unit two feet in front of your face, and you won't even notice it.

HDD Capacity randomly reduces

It's called "recordings", they usually do they take up space on the hard drive... Seriously now; how are you checking those "estimates"? Because no, the HD capacity never reduces. -
Remote View with Windows7 and IE8
Securame replied to B3RTCCTVFORUM's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Try "meye". -
I have some products that also advertise and work with P2P. I do like them, so far. The catch; there is no need for opening ports or having a static IP. Do not ask me (yet) how it works, since I have not done any research. But I have seen it working, and it is a cool feature, indeed.

NVR dahua vs hikvision
Securame replied to redsleeve's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Older models specifications are not so clear. Forget about the "8ch 4CIF, 4ch 720p, 2ch whatever". You have 8ch and a given bandwidth; and you can share the resources among the number of channels you have, however you want. DS-7608NI-SE can do 8ch and has 40mbps bandwidth. You could do 8ch at 5mbps each. You could also do 4ch 9mbps and 4ch 1mbps. And those 4ch 1mbps could be at 1920x1080@25fps, but the video would be so compressed that the quality would suck big time. And as UserM says, 7608NI-S and 7608NI-SE are not the same. -
NVR dahua vs hikvision
Securame replied to redsleeve's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you have Hikvision cameras, I would go for a Hikvision NVR. With Dahua NVR you won't be able to do motion detection, so you will end up recording 24/7. DS-7608NI-SE can record 8ch 1920x1080@25fps, total 40mbps bandwidth (5mbps per camera). NVR3108 can also do 8ch 1920x1080@25fps, with 32mbps bandwidth (4mbps per camera). -
HOW serious is the malware issue in Hikvision Recorders
Securame replied to SECUCHUCK's topic in Digital Video Recorders
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=40308 I do not see it as anything serious. If you have the telnet port open to the world, and leave the admin password as default 12345, well... I think it is the owner's fault, not Hikvision's. -
568-a or 568-b Standard for Hik/Swann?

It doesn't matter.
