    DVR does not recognize HDD.

Check the power supply of the DVR. It is probably something like 12V 5A, see if you have another power supply that gives the same output, or even more A. One of the first simptoms of failing power supply on the DVR, when it gives less A that it should be giving, is the HD not working ok, or not being able to power up at all.
  2. Check this one out for NFS: http://www.networkcameracritic.com/?p=1729
  3. I would say that this unit must also be susceptible to weather as the other one, none of them seem good for outdoors unless properly protected.
  4. Someone else will have to help you with this; I do not know the default IP for Dahua DVR. Default ports will surely be 80, 554, 37777 and 37778. Once you know the IP, you should be able to temporarily configure your router on the same subnet, and forward the needed ports to the DVR IP (or just put it on the DMZ). This way it can be upgraded remotely with the correct firmware.
  5. You will probably need to flash the firmware. Dahua chinese firmwares do not have an option to just "switch" to english, you need to flash it with an english firmware. Contact whoever sold it to you, they should be able to change the firmware remotely (as long as you know how to configure the DVR so they can access it over internet).

    Audio from DVR to TV

I am sure they must be reliable. Not cheap, but I think they should not give you any headaches on the long run.

Going to buy hikvision dvr , help me

If I had to choose, I would take DS-7204HFI-SH. But hey, for a little bit more you can get DS-7204HWI-SH, which will do WD1 25fps.

    DVR HELP - noob

Luckyfella, .254 is the gateway (router), the DVR IP is indeed .200 And yes, you should be opening both ports 8080 and 37777 so you can access the DVR from outside the network. That looks like some old Dahua DVR.
  11. That seems way better, and you might even have two neighbours happy to know that you are also covering their properties. " title="Applause" />
  12. I agree with skomo; i would not want to depend on wireless/bandwidth for the recordings. The best way is to record on each site, even if that means having several small NVRs instead of just a big one. Having 10-20 IP cameras being recorded wireless seems like a bad idea.
  13. Dahua does that. You can connect analog cameras to a Dahua DVR; and then make a NVR connect to the DVR and record the channels like it was an IP camera. Of course if you would need to buy the DVR and NVR, it would probably make more sense to just get a hybrid machine.
  14. Your camera placement is definately way worse than your neighbours. Your cameras are not covering each other, they could be vandalised and you would not even know what happened. You have quite a blind spot on your garden, and more importantly, on your porch. If there is a window in there, then it is even worse. Also, the camera on the left is looking way too high. Why do you record the street? The main purpose of the camera should be to cover your porch and main door, and not the cars on the other side of the street. I would move them.
  15. Just do a CTRL+F5, so the browser reloads everything and forgets what it has on the cache.
  16. You don't have an easy way to t verify it. You would have to open the cameras and dismantle them to see what sensor it has; and even then you would probably be unable to tell apart a sensor from another. Recording size has nothing to do with camera's TVLs.
  17. Baseline Firmware_IPC_Raptor series_En_V5.0.5 130925(Released).rar http://www.hikvisioneurope.com/portal/index.php?dir=Product%20Firmware/Cameras/Raptor%20Platform%20IPC%202%20series%20firmware/V5.0.5%20build%20130925/ I won't have to time to check it out for a while, hopefully someone will do so and comment. There is also a new version for the TI365 series, v5.0.8. 18. Pretty cool cameras! Edit: I surely hope they are ONVIF...
  19. I want a VGA output display, matrox use a DVI port.. It actually has 8 displayport outputs, not DVI. You would need 8 displayport to VGA adapters. If the card comes with the 8 displayport to DVI adapters shown in the pictures, it would probably be way cheaper to just get 8 DVI to VGA adapters.
  20. Not sure yet as I haven't gotten that far. I just want to know if I'd even be close to borderline in needing a Gigabit uplink on the switch. NVR will be a Gen 3 i7 PC fyi. You won't be even close, but if you do have a Gigabit port on the switch, use if for the NVR, of course.
  21. Not really, what bitrate will you use with those cameras? If the NVR is connected at 100mbps, that would be more than enough to use each of the 7 cameras at a 10mbps bitrate.
  22. I really hope that you are not comparing a PTZ camera zooming in 600 feet away to a fixed lens camera...
  23. NO THIS IS A BAD IDEA Please explain your opinion why it's a bad idea. The OP stated he wants something that would work with IPCam. I'm new to the IP Camera field and am learning. I agree that it is a bad idea. That might be a good solution for home use, maybe just for one monitor, for an end user, etc.. 8 of those devices on 8 monitors? No way I would install that on any serious customer, I would not even want that for myself. 8 different monitors hooked up to a computer showing different desktops = computer with 8 video outputs, or more than one computer.

Now that is a spider web! :-)

That one was way better! " title="Applause" />
  25. A good VGA cable should be able to work at 1920x1080 (1080p). You have to configure the compute to work at 1920x1080, and if you are able to see the desktop correctly at that resolution without any noise, then the cable is good, and you should also be viewing video at 1920x1080 with no problems.
