Because your TV sucks and is unable to adjust the image? Nah, that would not seem strange to me, since you are using analog input. If you can not adjust the width of the image on your DVR or on your TV, you are out of luck. You can replace the BNC cable to your TV for a VGA cable.

From a supplier installer's view
Securame replied to Numb-nuts's topic in General Digital Discussion
We install mainly Hikvision DVRs, and I love them. -
That unit does not seem that much "professional" to me. It can only do 100fps D1, are you recording each chanel at D1 6fps? If you are capturing that image from the netviewer program over lan, bandwidth might not be an issue, but maybe the DVR has dual stream. So maybe you are not seeing the best quality possible from the DVR. Can you try downloading a recording, and then comparing to the screenshot you posted? You might be watching CIF resolution, but the DVR might actually be making a D1 recording.

Can't figure out password on Dahua based DVR
Securame replied to pal251's topic in Digital Video Recorders
WTF Dahua, really... WTF That is what I call secure... And how else did people think they magically generated a one day emergency password without using a MAC address or serial number for each dvr? The only real surprise is that the 8888 portion is that simple. Regardless of the complexity of the formula, once the cat is out of the bag it isn't secure. I had no idea it was possible to get one day password for all Dahuas... I only needed this with Hikvision DVRs before, and you had to supply them the s/n of the unit. Well, this is the second way I find out to bypass the admin password on Dahuas, I will try it out (I did via web interface, but I guess it will only work locally). -

E-mail client not mime/ MHTML compliant...
Securame replied to blake's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well... the answer would just be "get an email client that is mima/MHTML compliant". I have no clue what program iPhone uses for reading emails, or what programs you can install on an iPhone to read emails. I would also try geting those emails sent to different email account (not from Yahoo). -
If you only have analog cameras (which I guess you do, if all your cabling is BNC) replacing all the cabling with UTP will not make a difference at all on video quality. The only difference will be if you want to switch to IP cameras in the future; you will have done the job of replacing the cable already. But if you already have all cable in place, you can just leave it as it is, and replace the cable the day you want to go from analog to IP.

ONVIF and motion
Securame replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
No clue, but what would make the most sense to me is that both the cameras and NVR have motion detection settings, and that they both would be independent. So you could even use different settings on both, like ones for recording, and maybe some other settings, sensitivity, areas, etc on the camera that would trigger different events. But with Dahua I have seen settings that change at the same time on both NVR and camera. You disable MD on the NVR? It gets disabled on the camera. You enable it? It gets enabled. I have only used two systems so far, so there is still a lot I need to test. -
ONVIF and motion
Securame replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have not used ONVIF too much, but I also had problems using motion detection. Dahua NVR, with 2 Dahua cameras, 2 Hikvision cameras, and 1 chinese brand camera. Video was perfect on all 5 of them, and the Dahua units worked great with MD. But I was completely unable to get any motion detection redordings on the chinese camera, and I didn't have an easy time geting the Hikvision cameras to work (I did get some MD working, but not as expected). I do think that the motion detection happens at the camera level, and that the NVR does not even bother analizing the video. But I am not sure. On Dahua cameras, you change the MD settings (area, sensitivity, etc) and they also get updated on the camera. With the other cameras, you change any settings on the NVR, and the camera doesn't care at all. But even if I activated MD on the channel, set up an area, sensitivity, etc on the NVR, while it worked fine with the Dahua units, it did nothing with the others. -
At that price, even I am willing to give it a try... Just got 1pc for testing.

I am quite sure that is a Shenzhen Skybest H8516 DVR. Check to see if the back and inside of your unit matches this pictures: http://www.securame.com/grabador-dvr-skybest-h8516-16ch-video-16ch-audio-h264-lan-vga-hdmi-satax2-p-1106.html Good luck geting any help from them, you are going to need it. http://www.cn-dvr.com/en/

I do not see you anywhere forwarding the ports to your DVR IP... That is, you are showing us a screenshot were you tell your router to open the ports 8080, 34567, and 34599 on both TCP and UDP, that is fine. But were are you telling your router (192.168.1.254, I guess) to forward the connections that come on those ports to your DVR IP (192.168.1.72)? As SectorSecurity already said, if you want to test if it is working, fine, you need to test it from outside your network. Trying to access your public IP (http://xxx.xxx.55.134:8080) from inside your network will not work with most routers.

Motion Detection HDB3200c
Securame replied to Hathol's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have also had problems with Dahua and motion detection. I installed on a business not long ago a Dahua DVR1604HF-U (16ch analog, up to 16ch IP) with 4pc HDB3200C. I end up leaving the 4 cameras recording all time during work hours, because I was either losing too many events, or recording almost constantly. And today I was testing NVR3216 with 4pc HDW2100 and I felt I had the same problems; motion detection was missing too many events. Not related, but I also had 1pc analog DVR0404LF-AS with MD completely fucked up; it had a buggy firmware and MD could not be used at all, but they quickly solved it by sending me the firmware upgrade. I think there is still quite some work to be done on Dahua MD on IP systems. -
How about just puting a new HD on that DVR, formatting it, and then checking out what file system and structure it uses?

My newest piece of test equipment and my new outdoor Cat5
Securame replied to Numb-nuts's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Looks nice, can this be bought online? If you mean the Cable mapper and tone generator kit. Absolutely, it can, both in UK and in the USA and Australia on ebay of all places. I searched for day for the best price, ended up paying about a few dollars more because I wanted the blue one rather than the red (as if it makes a difference ? ). This is the link to the re-listed product in Australian Dollars. I offered al but a few dollars less and was decided so I ended up paying the full price Yes I meant the cable mapper, thanks!!! -
dahua nvr3208 - remote not working as expected >>
Securame replied to platinum's topic in Digital Video Recorders
DVR remotes usually can be used for many DVRs, so before using it you have to tell the remote what unit to control. Like, you could have 5 DVRs from the same brand, and use just one remote ton control them all. Every DVR will have an id (000-999), so before you send commands, you have to tell the remote what unit you are sending the commands to. Check the manual that comes with the DVR, you will probably find info on how to use the remote. -
Any decent DVR will have alarm inputs/outputs. Edit: Oh... If you want to record on the computer, you won't have it so easy. I would just use a DVR and save time.

Dahua IPC-HDB3200C ftp path, snapshot url, X - axis?
Securame replied to oh6hfx's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
So I updated the IPC-HFW2100 with the following version: Software Version 2.210.0001.0.R, build : 2013-05-17 WEB Version 3.2.1.105704 Now I can access both port 80 and 9988, like with the IPC-HDB3200C, but on both ports I get the same message that the IPC-HFW3200S gives me, that HTTP GET method not implemented... Maybe on newest firmwares this comes disabled by default (so that noone can get a screenshot of the camera without authentification) and there is some way to enable it? -
