  1. I am quite sure that I recently read an article about a city/country that made/was making mandatory for new businesses to have a CCTV system in order to get their license; I think it also said that exiting business would have a given time for installing a CCTV system, or would not get their licenses renewed. I would say that I read it somewhere on this forum, or maybe linked from this forum, but I am unable to find anything using the forum search. Has anyone read any news about this subject? Thanks!
  2. It wasn't any of those, but the second one rang a bell; the news I had read was about Philippines. So I trimmed down the search with "Manila", and I did came out with a few related to the article I had already read. It wasn't this one, but it does sum it up: http://www.mb.com.ph/articles/337946/no-cctv-no-business-permit Now I wonder how I end up reading that, if it wasn't from this forum... Thank you!
  3. He could probably plug the old HD and a new HD on a computer, an dlcone the drives. But then, that would be the same as just storing somewhere the old DVR with the old HD, and just buying a new HD for the new DVR... All in all, wasted time and nothing gained.
  4. Maybe he wants to back it up on VHS tapes...

    Dahua or Hikvision

Ah, ok. I thought you could keep the D1 real time on those channels, even when using D1 7/fps on the other channels. It is good to know you can choose anyway. I try to always say "real time" because otherwise I would say 25fps, since I work in PAL. That's why I was also referring to 6fps while you say 7fps, since it is D1 6fps on PAL, and D1 7fps on NTSC

    Dahua or Hikvision

You can do the same thing on Dahua, except its 7 FPS instead of 6FPS but thats not much of a difference really. Ahhh, that's good to know, I never checked. So with Dahua entry level DVRs, you have 1ch D1 real time, and the rest are CIF real time or D1 7fps?
  7. 4008HCI does up to 8ch 2CIF real time; you also have from Hikvision 4208HFVI, which does up to 8ch D1 (4CIF) real time. D1/4CIF is as high as you can go with analog cameras.

    Best 4 channel D1 DVR?

Hikvision 7204HFIST does 4ch D1 real time, but it is entry level, only one SATA connector (I put link to my web site because I can not find it on hikvision.com) http://www.securame.com/grabador-dvr-hikvision-ds7204hfist-4ch-video-d1-100fps-4ch-audio-h264-vga-lan-sata-p-969.html If you want something better, 8104HFIS/8104HFIST also does 4ch D1 real time, with up to 8 SATA ports. http://www.hikvision.com/en/Products_show.asp?id=71 http://www.hikvision.com/en/Products_show.asp?id=5014

    Dahua or Hikvision

I would go for Hikvision, but both would do the job properly. With Hikvision 7216HVIST you would have 16ch CIF real time or D1 6fps (you can choose on each channel); with Dahua 1604LE-A you would have 2ch D1 real time (channels 1 and 9) and 14ch CIF real time.

How do i find data recovery?

If the data has already been overwritten, there is no way to recover it.

    Good Hidden Cameras

My favorite hidden cameras are hand made. You can put a good, small, pinhole camera in many places. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=20325
  12. Both PSUs should work, each camera needs max. 180mA, so even the 5A 18 output model should be enough. If you have many long cable runs, or if the price difference is not too much, I would take the 11A model.

Is the SDK for my DVR a myth?

    It is a myth
  14. Ok, I really can not tell you for sure if iVMS4500 is compatible with 70xx series, and I do not have any of these units any more around to try. If Windows client (iVMS4000) works ok when connecting from internet to your DVR using the data port, but iVMS4500 is unable to do so, I would say that this model might not be compatible with iVMS4500 then, and you will not be able to do much more.
  15. Haven't met that problem yet, since 99% of the cameras we usually install are 12V, but I do find it strange that they do not also manufacture a balun that would lower it to 24V. http://www.utpvideo.com/en/UTP116PV-SV36.html http://www.utpvideo.com/en/UTP101PV-RM12.html
  16. That is indeed a Hikvision, the old (discontinued) 70xx series. I have not touched them for a while, but I am quite sure that the iVMS4500 application should be working fine with them. http://www.hikvision.com/En/products_show.asp?id=15 Hikvision uses two ports for data communication; I do not mean a "port" on the back of the DVR, but a network port. By default, port 80 is for web access, port 8000 is for data. So when you are connecting to the DVR from Internet Explorer, you connect to the web port, and when you connect from a client (Windows software, client for iPhone, Android, etc) you connect to the data port. Check the following capture; those are the dafult values, httpPort:80 and Port:8000 When you are using iVMS4500, you need to configure it with port 8000 (it will be 8000 already by default). Keep in mind that on your internet router you will need to forward both ports (TCP/UDP) to your DVR network IP, I am sure that you have already done so with port 80 if you can connect to the DVR from internet.
  17. On big jobs I also use the following: With The receiver/hub sends 36V to the camera, and the balun on the cameras end lowers whatever voltage it receives to 12V. This way it makes installation very easy, UTP runs of any length (which in the future will need no changes if there is a need to upgrade to IP cameras), and I do not need to worry about different voltages reaching the cameras due to different cable lengths, since the balun on the camera end will just lower it to 12V.
  18. Would you have a picture of that "Colossus" DVR? It might be a 7204 DVR from Hikvision, so it should be working with iVMS4500. Keep in mind that you need to connect to the data port, and not the web port!

    Hi from Spain

Hey targetchip, welcome aboard, I am also from Spain! (Barcelona)
  20. Everyone seems to be using mainly baluns for video? Am I the only one who also uses them for video+power, and even sometimes video+power+ptz?

    HDcctv Cards

Nice, do you know what would be the Dahua models equivalent to DG4208HF and DG4216HF?
  22. Securame

    HDcctv Cards

That will probably be a Dahua card --- I will check with them on the pricing!@ Could be. They also told me about their DG4208HF and DG4216HF cards (8ch and 16ch D1 real time), which would compete with Hikvision DS-4208HFVI and DS-4216HFVI (at a cheaper price); they can even be used toguether on the same computer with Netvision software. "And very glad to introduce our new cards to you which can work with Hikvision cards in one PC system with our software. The new cards are designed to compete with DS-42xxHFV cards. According to our testing, the image quality is even better than DS-42xxHFV. And our new DG42xxHF cards have multi-splits, while DS-42xxHFV only single screen. Enclosed the specification. For more details, please contact me." http://www.netvisiondvr.com/ProductInfo.asp?id=100 http://www.netvisiondvr.com/ProductInfo.asp?id=101&n=1 I have not yet tried any Netvision PCi card, so I can not vouch for them.

    HDcctv Cards

Netvision also has a 4ch real time capture card; 1080p 25/30fps, HD-SDI inputs, one HDMI output. http://www.netvisiondvr.com/ProductInfo.asp?id=99&n=1
  24. Great to know! There is v6.0.0.1 on Hikvision web site: "DSFilters player plug-in is a COM component developed based on Microsoft® DirectShow® technology, and it can be used to extract, analyze and decode digital video/audio signals from Hikvision devices. Users can playback Hikvision format media files and streams via standard players such as Windows Media Player." http://www.hikvision.com/En/download_more.asp?id=38
