You can replace the HD yourself, just check out what kind of HD it has, it will probably be a PATA hard drive (most drives today are SATA).

Hikvision under Win7?
Securame replied to Securame's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I just did so, I already contacted with Melissa 2 months ago, but I see that the last PM I sent her on the forum is still on my outbox, so maybe she doesn't come to this forum any more. I sent her an email, thank you! -
Does anyone know if Hikvision DVR cards work under Win7? (32 or 64bits) They are not listed on the specs, but since they are not always up to date, and they do list Vista 32 bit...
-
No problem. I know and have used Alix/PC-Engines, and one I saw on the list was one of those, but checking the specs now I see that those do not support PoE on the lan ports, but it means the router itself can be powered with PoE so that it doesn't need to use its own power supply, so I guess the column on that list must mean that to all the routers listed.
-
You have a PoE column on those devices. And right next to that one, there is a "Eth. port count" column. No that hard to check those that have PoE, and see if right next to it there is something like "2 LAN 1 WAN" or maybe more like "4 LAN 1 WAN" ... didn't take me more than 5 minutes to find a few dozens that have wan, 3+ lans with PoE, and DD-WRT support, which I undersdtand is what you are looking for. Edit: Ok, WiFi is also a must, I didn't check that, but there is also a "Wireless" column.
-
Check out DD-WRT supported device list, it is huge. You might be lucky and find something with 3+ lan ports and PoE. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices

Pico2000 3.0 ORS requires new unlocking key after PC crash
Securame replied to Dimpen's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Oh, excuse me. For a moment I actually thought you wanted solutions to your problem, I guess you don't. Maybe you should be speaking to Pico2000 developers then if you want that "bug" fixed. Or you should build a system that doesn't crash maybe...? Good luck. -
Why not just hook up the router you need to a PoE switch? So many kind of routers... ADSL, cable modem router, with WiFi, without WiFi, neutral routers, ... Not only would you need it with PoE, but also compatible with whatever use you need it for.

Can it be done with the BNC output, or with VGA to video converter? Sure, but the quality won't be so good... I have been doing it this way for years just for taking small screenshots for ouw web site (640x480). Guess I will have to keep making crappy screenshots, or just buy that VGA capture device, hopefully I should be using it for a few years. If anyone fins a cheaper option, please share!

Hikvision under Win7?
Securame replied to Securame's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Understood, or at least I think so. It is my guess then that I do not have any license, can I still get the software anyway for trying if it works on Win7 64 bits, even if I can not record? And if I would like to get prices for NetvisionDVR, who should I contact? Thanks! -
Hikvision under Win7?

I do not know where to get it from. Netvision web site is asking me to login, and I do not have a login... I have read here in the forum that I should contact my sales agent, but my contact in Hikvision is on holidays now due to chinese new year. http://www.netvisiondvr.com/DownloadCenter.asp Netvision software is free to use for those who have purchased a Hikvision card, or it needs to be purchased separate? -
Hikvision under Win7?
Securame replied to Securame's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
IVMS2000, it is the only software I have so far for Hikvision cards, I still do not have NetvisionDVR, and do not know of any other softwares that work with Hikvision DVR cards... If there is any other software someone wants me to try, let me know, it would be no problem for me to do so now. -
Do any DVR Cards support 64bit Operating Systems?
Securame replied to scoutfu's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hikvision PCI cards also seem to work ok under Win7 64 bits. I only tried a 4008 card, but the drivers seem to be for all 40xx 41xx and 42xx cards. -

Tried it, and working great so far under 64 bits. Good to know every day more things are starting to work ok not just under Win7, but slowly also under Win7 64 bits " title="Applause" /> -
Hikvision under Win7?
Securame replied to Securame's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I just saw on hikvisionusa.com that they DO have 64 bits drivers for this cards...!! Quite strange that these same drivers do not seem to be for download on their main site, hikvision.com http://www.hikvisionusa.com/downloads.html http://www.hikvisionusa.com/windows%2064bit.html Looking at the included files, there seems to be drivers for 40xx 41xx and 42xx cards. I guess I will try to check it out tomorrow at work... They also seem to have listed a newer 32 bit driver than the one on hikvision.com, dated 17/Sep/2010... Guess I will have to start checking hikvision.com from now on for Hikvision downloads -
Hikvision under Win7?
Securame replied to Securame's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
So I finally had some time to test the DS-4008HSI I got from Hikvision, and it worked without any problems under Win7 32 bits with the latest drivers and software from their web site: Windows Driver for DS-40xxHCI/HSI/MDI Card [2010-03-23] iVMS-2000 PC DVR/Hybrid DVR/PC NVR server software V2.02_Setup_20101014 I did try it under Win7 64 bits, and of course the driver failed to install. I pretty much doubt there is any way to wotk with Hikvision DVR cards under 64 bits (I do not know of any manufacturer that offers 64 bits support so far). Can anyone point me on the right direction for trying Netvision software? I think there is someone from Netvision on this forum. I tried NetvisionDVR web site, but it is asking me for a login, and I find nowhere to register, and I am unable to see any prices for Netvision software. Thanks! -
Pico2000 3.0 ORS requires new unlocking key after PC crash
Securame replied to Dimpen's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Why not just image the HD once you have it up and running? If the system crashes, do not reinstall Windows, just restore the HD image... If power is a problem, you might also consider puting a UPS on that computer. -
Subscribing to thread, I would check this out when I have some time!

Without giving any information on that PTZ camera, it will be very difficult for anyone to help you... manufacturer? model?

Need some input on system dessign
Securame posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hello everyone! I have been asked to set up a system that is a little bit of what I usually do, and I would like some input on those more used to high end systems. This system will be replicated (there will be about 8 units), it is for some big institution, and I know the total budget for all systems will be a 6 digit number (Euros). What they need is the following: - System will have 6 video inputs/sources. Source 1 is a VGA switch with 3 computers connected, which they already have, but it can be replaced with another kind of connection (HDMI?). Sources 2 and 3 will be PTZ network megapixel cameras. Sources 4-5-6 are unknown, but they are not supposed to have resolutions that high (one I am quite sure it will be a DVD player). - Not all those sources will have audio, but some will for sure (1 and DVD) - All 6 sources need to be recorded real time. The higher the resolution, the better. Sources 1-2-3 will probably need at least 720p, sources 4-5-6 might do OK with D1. - System will have 3 A/V outputs. Output 1 will be a projector. Output 2 will be a streaming server (so whatever they want can be broadcasted realtime over internet). Output 3 is unknown. - A matrix switch might be needed; any of the 6 inputs needs to be sent to any of the 3 outputs at any time (different inputs to different outputs). Now, I am thinking all the system in 2 parts. Automated part, which will take care of the recordings, and user controlled part, which will control the PTZ cameras and outputs. First I had thought on doing everything on HDMI, but I don't think there are any HDMI multi channels recorders. I could at least use HDMI on the user controlled part (convert all 6 inputs to HDMI if they are not already HDMI, and use a 8x4 HDMI matrix so any input can be sent to any output). For the recording, I want as much resolution as possible at least on sources 1-2-3. Resolution on source 1 can be changed, so the minimum would be 720p for these 3 sources. 1280x720 resolution on the computers (source 1) and megapixel cameras (sources 2-3). But here I encounter my first problem, I have a VGA signal, which could be a DVI or HDMI signal... but how to record it? Would there be some kind of video server, that could convert me that computer signal into a "virtual" network camera that can be recorded the same way as sources 2-3? Sources 4-5-6 should give less trouble, since they could probably be recorded like an analog camera. So far what I was thinking, and I have chosen HIKVISION because that is the brand I usually work the most with (and know), but I would like ideas on how to implement this another way, or with other brands. I was looking at a Hibrid recorder, DS-9008HFI-SH - http://www.hikvision.com/En/Products_show.asp?id=382 This will allow me to record 3ch IP camera at 720P, and 3 analog sources at D1. I would then have to find a way to convert a VGA signal into an "IP camera" signal, can that be done? Is a video server for that? Any hints on how to record a VGA signal? For the 2 cameras, I was looking at DS-2DF1-672, 1.3 megapixel network speed dome. http://www.hikvision.com/En/Products_show.asp?id=523 There should be no problem recording these ones on the above recorder, and they do 1280x720 25fps. The other 3 inputs should be trivial; they will either be lower quality sources which can be recorded as analog cameras at D1 25fps. A keyboard will probably also be needed for controling the 2 cameras. Now on the outputs; this Hybrid DVR has 4 outputs: Main (BNC), Spot (BNC), VGA and HDMI. I pretty much doubt this can be used easily for switching what input you want to send to each output, it would be too slow to navigate the DVRs menus to configure the output every time it needs to be changed. Would again a video server work here? I never used one of this, but are this things for connecting to a network stream and output it with BNC/VGA? Or any other appliance I can use, so I can connect one on the projector (VGA 1280x720), another one on the stream server (BNC and D1 should do it), and another one wherever they need the 3rd output... Digital Video Server DS-6401HDI http://www.hikvision.com/En/Products_show.asp?id=470 (Edit: I think DS-6301DI would also tdo the job if I do not need HDMI output - http://www.hikvision.com/En/Products_show.asp?id=69 ) This project is just starting and I have barely been thinking about it and researching 2 days, but any inputs will be great, and I appreciate if you have read this far! Thanks! -
Need some input on system dessign
Securame replied to Securame's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hello, System must record 6 sources and I would like to do it on the HIKVISION; yes. Only 2 of those sources are actually cameras. Source 3 is a VGA switch (which can show signal from 3 different computers, and could be replaced with a DVI or HDMI signal). Sources 4-5-6 will do good with D1 (704x576), I know for sure one is a DVD player. DS-9008HFI-SH can do 8ch at D1 25fps, I am sure of that. It has 8 analog channel which can do 200fps at 4CIF/D1. It then has another 8 IP channels, which could be 8 IP cameras at 4CIF/D1 25fps, or 4 IP cameras at 720p 25fps, or 2 IP cameras at UXGA 25fps (I am interested on the middle option, 4ch at 720p). So I would be using 3 analog at D1 25fps (wasting 5 analog) and 3 IP at 720p 25fps (wasting 1 IP at 720p). System is not really for "protection", it is more for conferences. Everything must be recorded/stored for future use. I think I pretty much got the idea right, I just do not need how I could convert a VGA 1280x720 signal into a stream that can easily be recorded... Converting it to analog and recording it at just 704x576 does not seem such a good idea, text would be too blurry. -
The second one is a DS-4008HCI, and it does 200fps at 2CIF (that is 8 channels at 2CIF 25fps each channel). It can also do 4CIF at 10-12fps per channel. http://www.hikvision.com/En/Products_show.asp?id=17 I don't know the other one, but it seems to do about the same, 2CIF realtime or 4CIF 12-15fps each channel.

I work with both Dahua and Hikvision. I might prefer Hikvision slightly over Dahua, but I think that with any of those two, you are making a right choice on your chinese manufacturer.
-
Good to know Dahua has Mac client, in case someone asks around... What do you mean "on the cheap side", that they have client for their low end DVRs? Or that you consider Dahua a "cheap" manufacturer? Thanks!

According asmag.com "Security 50 ranking", it is ADT security at the moment. http://www.asmag.com/event/Security50_Ranking.aspx http://www.asmag.com/event/Security50_Ranking2009.aspx http://www.asmag.com/event/Security50_Ranking2008.aspx Hikvision has been climbing spots 13->12->10 these last 3 years and is the bigest manufacturer in China. It could have its own forum, and I hope it does sometime...
