Looking for a DVR brand to sell - What about Hikvision?
Securame replied to Securame's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hello Kingvision, I see that you are also in SZ and carry DVRs, are your company manufacturers, resellers, or...? Problem with China "domestic" market is that many times the quality doesn't seem so good as the products for international market. Sometimes I have gotten DVRs only in chinese that needed firmware upgrades to have english menus/software, DVRs that have chinese text on them so you do not know what some buttons do, I have even gotten chinese remote controls hehe. Do you recognise the following DVRs? I have bought them from YES (first pic), I have bought it also in Spain (second pic), and I think Hikvision also had one like it on its web site. And from what I have tried, this unit has given me very good results, no problems in recording, no problems in remote connections, client or IE based, etc. tomcctv, I have to say that the little I know about "avermedia", I usually always associated it with TV tuner/capture cards, and staff like that, and not CCTV. My english is not so good, with "knock spots of hikvision" you mean that you would recommend avermedia products over hikvision products? Anyway, I was refering mainly to standalone DVRs, and not DVR cards. We import all of our products direct from China, I wouldn't mind buying in Spain/Europe if the prices were worth it. Thanks! -
Help needed on how to connect bnc to a vga monitor
Securame replied to SUPERMANUK's topic in General Digital Discussion
No, you can't. What you are showing on your first post is a VGA to video converter; you need a video to VGA converter. -
Help needed on how to connect bnc to a vga monitor
Securame replied to SUPERMANUK's topic in General Digital Discussion
You could just run normal BNC cable to the monitor, and there use a video to VGA adapter. The one in your picture won't do it, that is a VGA to AV cable, not the other way (they are not bidirectional). -
I haven't done it myself, but I have even seen one of this cameras inserted on a tree. They cut part of the outside of the tree to make the wiring and insert the pinhole camera, and once everything is up and running then tie in place the piece of the tree you removed. The tree will "heal" itself and keep growing as usual, and eventually you won't even be able to see that a piece of the tree was previously removed. I might have to do one of this shortly, if I do I will take some pics

Good manufacturers of Height-Strip cameras
Securame replied to melisandeneowald's topic in Security Cameras
That is one ugly piece of crap. I do not know of anyone that would like to have anything like that by their door... And I mean, for that price, it would be just easier to install one or two bulletcam/pinhole cameras hidden somehow on the exit that can get clear shots of the face with a good angle. If someone is wearing a hat/mask/whatever, hey, you won't see their hair colour no matter what kind of camera you have installed... -
It is not really rated for outdoor use, but I have used some other models like this one outdoors. But I would say I am the one that ends up making it "outdoors" and "weatherproof", since the camera basically ends up surrounded by glue/silicone, with the only thing sticking out being the pinhole lens, you just have to make sure it is in a position/angle where it can not be affected by rain and snow. I use a "hot melt glue gun" and "silicone gun". Sorry about my wordings, because I do not know most of the tool names in english, in spanish it is "cola termofusible" and "silicona", something like the following:

It asks to register to see the pictures

Nope, never. I am quite new on the CCTV world, fast learner, but I still have a very long way to go...

Here are some more. This is the entrance to our shop. You won't notice here, but there are 2 cameras, one on each side. On the ceiling to the left side, you won't notice much, but if you were to look with a light, you would see a camera. It is a black camera on black background, so it just hides by itself... On the right side, we have another pinhole camera. This one has been painted white, and it is half buried on the door/window frame. Here you have 2 power plugs. But, when looking closely, you can notice that one of them is actually a hidden camera... Finally, a book. This one has inside a 640x480@25fps small recorder. The lens is on the side of the book, it records video on a micro SD memory card.

Yeah, always better to insert the camera on something that really doesn't stand out on whatever place you are installing it, than to just use a pre-made hidden camera that woulnd't fool half of us around here hehe I have never used fiber cameras. We used this cameras. This one is Sony CCD 1/3 B&W 600TVL, low lux. It is the one on the air conditioning unit, and the alarm keypad. The microphone is unused. This is the one on the monitor and screw. I have several models, so I do not know for sure what sensor they have, but they are both colour cameras, I think 420tvl. And this is the one inside the emergency light. Also 420tvl, it does have colour, even on the picture seems to be B&W. It actually goes a little bit on the ceiling, so it would get some angle and point to the ground.

Here are some pics, 5 custom hidden cameras! Cam1 - Hidden on monitor. We removed one of the speakers, and mounted the camera inside. It uses one of the existing holes on the monitor frame, so you can not notice anything from the outisde. Cam2 - Hidden on a screw. Not the pre-made screw, but one from the wall, so it is exactly the same as all the other ones. Cam3 - Hidden on the air conditioning unit. You can barely notice a very small hole if you look for it. Cam4 - Hidden on the alarm keypad. It is a non functional alarm keypad from an old alarm, it still has the 2 batteries from the old keypad to power the green led. Cam5 - Hidden on emergency exit light. The emergency light is functional. If you check the first picture (monitor), you will also see this camera in there, the one with name "LUZEMERG", you can see me in there taking the picture

Oooops, indeed...!!

Spy Camera flying platform: Police, military, or PI?
Securame replied to scorpion's topic in Test Bench
Hexakopter!! There is a commercial thing like this one already being sold: http://www.draganfly.com/ The one in the video above seemd to me a lot quicker/agile. -
If it a public web site, that is probably the way to go. If he wants to see himself the 8 cameras wherever he is, he could connect direct to the DVR. If he expects the images to be shown on a public web page (and seen by many people at the same time), it would probably be better to have the images uploaded to a ftp/web page, and from there have a page that autorefreshes and shows the images. Note that this would NOT be real time video, but more self updating images. If your customer wants to show 8 live feeds to multiple viewers at the same time, he better have a very good internet connection wherever the DVR will be installed...

This is the only one I know of, but if anyone here knows other good ones, I would gladly check them out too...!

From my non-technical point of view; the main difference as has been said already, is the size. A 1/3" sensor is 33% bigger than a 1/4" sensor. Now, with the same characteristics, a 1/3" sensor will be better than the same 1/4" sensor, because it will give you more clear colours/details. The difference is minimum, on paper a 1/3" Sony 480TVL sensor should give the same quality than a 1/4" Sony 480 TVL sensor, since they all are from the same manufacturer and have the same lines of resolution, but colours, brightness, contrats, and image quality in general would be better on the 1/3" sensor, given its size. If you are speaking about the lens; I think that nowadays it is very difficult to fins lenses for 1/4" (I think impossible, like I think trhey do not make any more lenses for C mount). I usually work only with CS mount 1/3" lenses, which will work on on 1/4" sensors and 1/3" sensors. The view angle will be bigger with the 1/3" sensor, the 1/4" sensor will be missing/loosing/skipping some light on the sides, since it will be smaller that the lens.

DVR problems so considering Geovision and Active Webcam
Securame replied to gdome's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
From what I know there's nothing wrong on that web page, but I just intented to point you to the picture, that is the exact same card I have used with BTWinCap+Active Webcam with no problems, I know it by model name "AOP-416": http://www.riseie.com/cam/aop-416-1.jpg -

Securame replied to gdome's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I would never advise you tu use any TV Tuner card on the same computer you plan to use for CCTV/with BTWinCap drivers, but if you have been lucky so far, you might give it a try. I have seen many TV tuner cards give problems with any DVR card (BT878 or otherwise), and I would never advise anyone to use a personal use computer as a CCTV system, and my guess is that if you use a TV tuner on that computer, it is a personal use computer. One 4ch BT878 card I can tell you will work with no problems with BTWinCap and Active Webcam is this one, I know it by model name AOP-416. http://www.riseie.com/cam/AOP-416.htm -
Conexant Fusion based 4ch DVR card problem
Securame replied to exahertz's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Yes, I am sure that it will not work with ALL cards that just happen to have a BT878 chip in there, BTWinCap device list when installing is huge and the drivers have not been updated in over 5 years. I have even been able to mix different cards to have 9ch on one system with no problem (8 chips + 1 chip), that's why I stick with the 3 models of card I do know to work ok. -
I think that I have made a mistake
Securame replied to gdome's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
You do not need to post the same question two times. I have already repplied you on another thread, Active Webcam will not work with TW6802, and of course bt878 drivers will not work with a card that does NOT have bt878 chips. -

New 8 channel card not working, don't know what to do...
Securame replied to BabiesNBellies's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I also think it is more likely to be a Vista problem, than an AMD problem. If it is going to be a dedicated system, wipe Vista and install XP. My main test computer is right now an old Athlon64 3Ghz computer, and I can tell you that all DVR cards I work with, they all work ok on that AMD system. -

From my experience, you will not be able to get to work a card with TW6802 chips with Active Webcam. You will have to use the drivers and software that came included with the card. If like Active Webcam and wish to keep using it, you should find yourself a DVR card with 4ch 100fps with 4 BT878 chips. It is not an expensive card, and you will then be able for sure to stay with Active Webcam.
