Hello everyone. I have been absent from this helpful forum for quite some time and my best wishes to everyone. Further I need to install a GE Kalatel Cyberdome PTZ 18x DayNight+Controller 405 into my existing system consisting of a Kalatel DVRME Triplex. I have searched everywhere but cannot find installation instructions anywhere as these models are probably old and outdated. Would be obliged if someone could help me in this matter, I am sure you would have some pdf files somewhere on the computer which could help me. My main query is the programming of the PTZ. I have mounted it on a flat wall and not on a corner wall as I needed to capture clients car regn numbers as well as faces of customers as the walk into the main office door. So the camera has a 180deg field to monitor. Will it be able to do this on its own, without my steering , through motion detection programming or is it expecting too much. A stupid question but what has been Secondly in playback mode what would I be able to see, would I be able to see just what the lens sees or more ? Would I be able to zoom etc ? All help will be highly appreciated.

Firstly let me thank this forum members for pointing me in the right direction. I bought the above DVR after a lot of searching and have just set it up. I have set up Port 80 on the DVR and forwarded the same port on my SMC router. I do not have static Ip and am using No-Ip's free service to obtain a static address. When I try to log on to the name service provided by IP, I cannot. However when I use the Ip address as seen in the NO-ip window, I am able to log onto the DVR from any location, but upto the point of the opening screen. When I enter the user name and password, the browser searches and returns a error. Would appreciate help once again on this . Also is it Ok to use port 80 or shall I try another port. I am using a SMC 7804WBRA Barricade router. All advice highly appreciated and welcomed.

Hi everyone. I can successfully log onto my Kalatel DVRme using any computer with Wavereader installed. But sometimes I need to use public computers and would like to logon using any web browser. Can someone please guide me how to do this. I have tried typing into the browser the following http://xxx.xx.xxx.xxx:1024 but this doesnt work. What shoudl I do ? Thanks

Nice to hear from you. Basically with WaveReader/Wavevue (yours) installed on the computer I was able to log on using port 1024. This means I am restricted to my own computers only. However when I enter the IP address in any browser , I cannot log on from anywhere not even my own computer. BTW WaveReader also accepts a url to log on to the DVR. Is there any update/upgrade on your wonderful program ? I see you have changed your web page completely.

I wish they had left me with the working module. The man just took out the camera from his existing working setup and replaced it with my camera. The wires etc were all as recommended by GE as this was the GE, Poland office and this was a working camera.

I have patiently over the last so many months tried to build a system using a Kalatel DVRme as the base. I bought a Cyberdome and after unrelentless efforts at programming have come to the conclusion that it is defective. I cannot afford a new Cyberdome as have spent a lot of money on these cameras and had even tried to buy two more on ebay and lost money as the guy didnt ship the cameras and disappeared. There is no way I can get the camera repaired in Poland and the only solution is to look for cheaper alternatives. In the mad rush to get the Cyberdome working I even went and bought a KTD 405 and the I/O box and adapters, etc etc. So basically a lot of money spent. Can someone please suggest what other brand PTZ camera can be used with a GE system ? If no other cameras work as well as Cyberdomes then I may as well foget about a PTZ and restrict the system to normal cameras. all help and suggestions highly highly welcomed, thanks in advance. If someone has any GE cameras for sale, please let me know.

Today mounted the camera on a wall and tried, but with the same result. I called GE here and they asked me to bring the camera over. Went to them and they took out the camera module from a working Dome and replaced it with mine. Same result. The camera was uncontrollable. The problem is I cannot call the programming menu on the screen whereby I would be able to reset the camera. Is it possible to get Kalatel Domes repaired in the US and would you know someone. Would appreciate a PM if you do, thanks.

The thing is that even when I connect the camera directly without the Keypad and I/O box the head keeps moving and goes into a kind of a tour all over the place. The picture is visible and the camera keeps zooming and doing everthing except coming to a halt. This behavior is identical when it is connected to the i/O box and keypad. It acts as if nothing has been connected to it and nothing is regulating it. The only mistake I can see is that it was always lying down and we have tried holding it uproight but that too without turning the power on and off. SO I will mount the camera on a wall tomorrow and retry. If it just stops the tour and waits for further commands would be a good indication.

When it wouldnt accept the commands lying down , we held it upright and tried but it didnt work too. DO you think I should fix it to the wall and try.

Thanks jisaacmagee and rory for your replies. This si the first time I have been cheated on ebay having dealt on it for a longtime. You meet all kinds of people everywhere and this has taught me a lesson to be more careful now though an expensive lesson . To answer Rory's question I have the Kalatel Dvrme 320, several cheap cameras which are working fine and one CyberDome which refuses to acknolwedge it is connected to the system and keeps turning left and right regardless of what program is fed to it through the joypad KTD 405 which is wired through a Kalatel I/O box. The Cyberdome has not yet been fixed in its destined place but I am trying to first check if it works by plugging in all the wires before installation. Do you think that would make a difference as it is at the moment connected by all wires but lying on a table ? I have tried programming it in Digiplex mode and the other mode. Tried several different addresses, tried to reset the camera through the keypad but it just doesnt acknowledge the commands. I have contacted GE support here but sorry to say they are a bunch of idiots who keep sending me instruction manuals and who do not have any technical or practical experience.

I am trying to build my system slowly and have just bought a Pelco Dome 3 and a Kalatel PTZ Camera. Got a good deal , so bought bought without actually knowing what I am getting into. I have the following queries for which seek advice/help from the forum members, 1) Would I be able to run a Pelco and a Kalatel PTZ at the same time. I have a Kalatel DVRme 320GB Triplex. 2) I believe I will need a controller right away. I checked the price of a KTD 405 , but at the moment it is out of my budget. Would it be possible in any way to control both the PTZ cameras through any software or could I buy some cheap controller as a stop gap until I can afford a 405. 3) Is some special wiring needed for a PTZ or could it be mounted instead of another camera on a normal coaxial wire. DO I need to run any other wires from the PTZ to the DVR. Would welcome all advice and thanks in advance.

Tried everything but cannot get my CyberDome to respond to the KTD 405. I programmed the Joypad to Digiplex mode, set the site address to 32 on the camera (Switch 6 up) and also terminated the 422 connection by turning the switch to ON. However the camera is unresponsive to the Joypad and behaves as if it was just plugged directly on its own. I am using the UTP and I/O box for the connections. Any suggestions please, have tried in Zone Mode too by connecting the Cyberdome and the Joypad to the DVR but no luck.

To connect Cyberdomes and a KTD 405 to a DVRme do I need a GE 1043406 I/O Box . I am getting a used KTD 405 which does not have this I/O box. Is this box normally included with a new KTD 405 or does one need to buy it separately ? Is it needed at all or can one use the Keypad without it ?

It is a Cyberdome. Do you know which cheaper controller would work ? Any of the cheap chinese ones or do I have to buy a GE?

Hi, Does anybody have any idea abt this camera. I have been offered one used one for $550/- Is it a good buy ? What should I be looking for in this kind of a camera to ensure it is not a dud?

Using port 80 and/or 1027, I was able to remotely log on to the wave browser software of the Kalatel. The screen along with all the buttons loaded correctly but beyond that nothing. I tried entereing PWD on the wave browser screen and tried everything possible but the cameras just wouldnt load. Any idea what this problem is, thanks.

I checked 1024 and a hundred others. The only port which works is 80. And apparently 80 is NOT blocked by my IP. Any other solutions ?

Between the above two brands price diff is not too much. But the Bosch carries a 3 year warranty compared to a one year warranty the GE carries here in Europe. Which one should I go in for ? Does the additional 2 year warranty make the BOSCH a better choice?

I am highly indebted to you for taking your time to write. The Geovision system is this one. http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/product/GV-DVR.htm Geovision Taiwan has directly offered this to me. I am not sure of the HDD size but I can check. They claim it is very good and beats GE as well as Bosch. I am not sure abt this though, hence seeked your advice. I am still trying to locate a dealer of GE this side. Foud the Dallmier site, thanks. Also seems very good.

Unfortunately it is not easy to get a GE this side of the world. I have been looking everywhere incl the UK. The Baxali looks good, though have not found any info on the Dailmeir.If you have any link, will be obliged. BTW, what is your opinion of the GEOVISION GV DVR 1480S system. I have been offered this product for around 3K euros, but I believe it is WIndows based and hence not very stable ? Any idea on this ?
