you can download it on the ipad or iphone, just type in wapa in the app store. I cant get it to work on any systesm though. maybe when they do an update it will work.
  2. i know on the ipad you can download an app "ip cam" which is compatible with almost every brand. cant you load apps on the new lion operating system? steven

Geovision software and Android app HOW?

GVAView sucks, us IP Cam Viewer. The main thing i got stuck with was you have to enable JPEG under the network webcam option. if you dont it wont work. check that feature and see if it works.

    Version 8.5?

has one feature which i love! They also changed the menus around so it takes some getting used to. The main thing i noticed is with 8.4 when i connected with multiview my megapixel cameras would show up as 320x240, i would have to create 32 channels in the host manager specifing my megapixels. Now with 8.5 when i connect with multiview it automaticly show my megapixel cameas as megapixel without having to change anything. great job geovision. wish i could view megapixel on my phone, maybe in 8.6. Seems to be stable, havent had any problems.

    Multiview Resolution only 320x240

Is there a way to get better resolution out of multiview. When i right click and check resolution it says 320x240. I also view a GV-FE420D IP camera through multiview and it shows up as 320x240. I know i can go direct to ip camera but is there a way to view full resoltion through multiview? Thanks
  7. Just wondering what you guys use to troubleshoot camera, cable and dvr problems? thanks steven

    Which cctv testing tool?

thanks soundy, how do you use a 75 ohm terminator to troubleshoot a cable? the terminator on google looks like it plugs into a tv or something Steven
  9. Cant find them anywhere, checked on ebay and google. Can anyone tell me where i can buy fuses for my 12v 9 channel power supply? Thanks Steven
  10. Just got one in and i am very happy with it. The picture is amazing. Cost $###. They only have box cameras in production but are working on dome and bulltet. Has anyone else tried these? I have been using wave-p for many years and i am exited about this new product for very inxepensive price. We can quote much lower estimates and still make a lot of money, as we do now with cctv wave-p cards and cameras (16 channel dvr cost us $### 480fps D1 resolution) and cameras cost us $## outdoor vandelproof. We hope to start getting more jobs with these cameras as we can get the parts for 8x less then others on the market.
  11. You can try the wave-p BL1408 card, runs about $110. Its PCI-E, and records D1 640x480 at 15fps. We have had very good results.
  12. glad you got it figured out ctsk8r, The BL-1408 card handels 30fps per camera or 15fps at D1 resolution. If you try to put D1 at 30fps the system will crash. I have contacted wave-p to change the software so it doesnt give the option to choose 30fps when you are on D1. Steven ExpertDVRs

    Buy Dvr card 8 channel

I have sold over 500 ether9808 DVR Cards and around 50 of the BL-1408. So far i have not had a computer that these cards have not worked on(AMD or Intel) Most of the time the machine has to be configured properly. We have the customer setup a remote session and fix whatever is wrong. Its amazing what we find on the customers computers when we log in. You would think that the dvr system would be used as a dvr system, but 75% use it as a work computer, with all sorts of crap software like norton internet security. These cards work best with clean install of xp, partation the C: 20GB and save video on D: so it doesnt crash your operating system when it fills up. We have these running on vista and xp without a problem. I replace $1000 geovision cards all the time with the ether9808 and customers are much happier. Understand though most of our customers are small business and residential. So for you guys who are going to bash these cards that need software that can count how many times you blink when you walk past a camera, go ahead and spend 20x the price.
  14. We are a cctv reseller and dealt with a new camera supplier for the first time. Our experience with them has been horrible and they sent us the wrong type(PAL) cameras. We can send them back but they said customs is bad over there in china and might get lost. Anyone have any idea of what i can do with these, should i sell them to europe, or can i even use them on NTSC systems? Thanks Steven

Stuck with $2,000 worth of PAL Cameras

thanks soundy these are 12v cameras, i have a few cards that support PAL and will try them tonight. We are also an installer so i can get rid of these 100 cameras in a month or two. If they dont work with my card i will make this company send the correct ones or we will no longer do business with them. We have 8 different vendors from china and never had a problem, this is the first. I know we are going to get burned on some shipments but the price we save is well worth it even with losing out on a few deals. Do you have to choose PAL on most dvr systems that support both or is it automatic? and can you mix PAL and NTSC on these? Thanks
  16. I always use siamese cable for my power 18/2. I took over a job today were the previous installer used r6 cabel for video and cat5 to power each camera. It looks like he doubled up on each one to power, like white-orange, orange twisted together then white-blue, blue twisted together. i think cat5 cable is 24awg per strand. By doubling up two 24awg cables would that in theory make it a lower guage cable capable of running longer distances. Ill stick with my siamese cable but was just curios. Thanks
  17. Just wanted to see how everyone connects the power cable to cctv camera. What method do you use I personaly cut the power connector of a power supply and splice in with the siamese cable. Only thing is my employees always seem to put a few on backwards because it is not clearly marked positive and negative, both cables look black. Not to big of a deal, i just have to change to positive and negative in the power supply, but does get annoying. I bought connectors from ebay with a leed and beenie at the end but they were very crappy(they plastic broke just by touching it). I also seen people cut the power connector off the camera and splice directly in(sure that voids warrenty of the camera) I checked on ebay, has anyone tried these? are they any good? I wish i could order 1 to try, the only sell in 50pack and 100pack. http://cgi.ebay.com/2-1mm-CCTV-Power-Connector-50-pack-70-each-supply_W0QQitemZ110371895819QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item110371895819&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A3%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
  18. Does it really make a differnce zinc vs copper? i hooked up two same exact cameras, both on 1000ft spools and see no difference. Would the only differnce be the life of the connector?
  19. Hi, I run a computer company and offer DVR installs to our 2000 commercial clients(mainly small businesses). I starting using geovision cards when i first started doing camera install(about 4 years ago), always had issue with the systems crashing. I think mainly because these card might have been clones. So i went directly to geovision and bought authentic cards for around $800. I also had issues with these cards crashing and the remote view was horrible, always jumpy, never smooth. Personally i did not like the software(over complicated) I started trying different cards off ebay, when i came across the Wave-P ether9808 card. full 240fps per 8 channel card, will do up to 32 cameras at 960fps. I was amazed how smooth the playback was on the remote view and how easy the software was to use. The remote software did not have to be installed(just click on the exe), which made it easy for me to put the ip settings in and email it to the client. After replacing all of the geovision card with wave-p about 100 of them, every single customer was much happier with this smooth and clear playback from the remote software. It also has an easy function to lock the software so unauthorized users cant use the software(which i finaly found in geovision, but much easier to use in wave-p) this was a big problem at a few of our clients like mcdonald where employess were using the dvr to go online and also shutting the system down. -To burn sofware with wave-p is much easier, you can just make an exe and send to anyone(they dont need any codecs) -Problems i have encountered with the wave-p -During playback from remote view the dvr system would crash(This had been fixed in the january 2009 release of the software) in the past i just told all the clients they had to do playback direcly from the system. Now all of the clients can do playback from the remote view software and it is very smooth playback and easy to use. Had not had one system crash since the new software had been installed. -Also wave-p lied about 640x480 recording only does 320x240(so far out of 100 client i have had no one complain about this, i dont even think they no the differnce(i never told them the record rate, so i did not mislead them when i sold them the system) i always show every customer a demo before i sell them the DVR. I have contacted wave-p, not sure if the is something they can fix in the next release of the software. Ahh that reminds me another thing i hated about geovision cards, why cant i use new software on old cards? Many hours spent online looking for the correct version. With wave-p cards i can always download the latest release software from the website and it will work. These are just some of my thoughts on these cards. I would highly recommend these cards for people who are not looking for an over complicated dvr system that is easy to use. Works on vista and xp. -And damn the price difference going from a $800 card to a $65 One other thing, since we are a computer company i get calls all the time to setup other cctv systems because most cctv companies have no idea about port forwarding and dyanmic ip(i use dyndns com, they are free)setup -So the speco systems, everfocus, ect(standalone systems) althought they are easy to setup(just plug in and turn on) i find them to be poorer quality usualy under 30fps per camera and dificult to navigate when you have to search back dates. and they usually only have web access which is always slow and difficult to setup because the ie7 settings you have to change to enable activex. Right now i get about 1GB per/day per camera when recording with wave-p so with 2TB hard drive and 8 cameras i get up to 210 days contiunus record. I have read this forum and see a dislike in this card maybe because of the lie about 640 recording or the crashing of the software(which i can tell you i believe the fixed in the latest verision). Or maybe most of you guys are involved in much bigger setups then me(like i said we are do small setups, gas stations, 7-11's, mcdonalds, home setups, ect..) Just my opinion, would like to here other peoples thoughts on this card or any other cards they make.
  20. IQEye Alliance Dome I was thinking about ordering one of these cameras to demo for our store location. Just wanted to see anyones opinion on these cameras. I was going with the 5MP because it will allow me to test at other resoltions, 3MP, 2MP, and 1.3. also how is the software that comes with the camera, i hear most of them suck. I was looking at other NVR software but it looks like this model camera is not on the compatiablity list. -If you guys have any other suggestions of other brand cameras that are good. i would like to here them. I dont mind spending up to $2000
  21. why is the card crappy and software a joke. It is very stable, never crashes. It does everything i need it to. I have no use counters and object missing features. This dvr records video at high frame rate(never choppy), lets me play it back and view it remotley. like i said we are not installing these systems at jfk or on space shuttles. from customers feedback they all are much happier with these crappy card and software then geovisions cards. In the end it does not matter what i like, it matters what the customers like.
  22. 60% Aluminum Braid - Solid Copper Center I got a bunch of 1000ft boxes of this stuff for free. It uses 22AWG Telephone cable for power. What would be the max distance you would run with this cable? or should i not even bother using it because it will wind up costing me more if i have to replace it because of signal loss.
  23. Go to google and type in Shields Up Then type in your port 80 or 9000 and use specific port probe. if it comes up stealth or closed then it is a problem with your router or internet service provider(most likely your router). I use wave-p cards all the time and love them. I only use the dvp software, never the web based. If you need help setting this up let me know and i can remote into your dvr to set this up for you.
