I need some help figuring the function of some motion detection settings on a QC804 DVR. Can anyone tell me what the Anti-Dither, Latch, and Record Latch settings are for? I don't see any reference to them in the manual.

I'm trying to properly set up my motion detection email alerts. The NVR properly records a few seconds before the activation, but also seems to be sending me an email picture from BEFORE the activation. I want to record video before the activation, but want to email a picture at the time of the activation. shawn

Very little.

Spoke to Q-see today about the email alerts. As it turns out, Windows 8 IE 10 doesn't show all the Web Service configuration settings. So, if you're using Windows 8, be carefull about the settings. Q-See logged onto my NVR and enabled the SSL and encryption settings for email alerts. These options are not viewable on the NVR when accessing it on a Windows 8 pc using IE 10.

Called Q-See tech support today (via Costco). They were pleasant. Figured out why the email notification wasn't working correctly. When viewing the settings via the web interface - NOT ALL THE CONFIG SETTINGS - show if you have Windows 8 using IE10!!! The tech support fellow logged into my NVR and said the SSL and encryption settings weren't turned on. I don't have these settings on Windows 8 IE10. I then logged into the NVR using Windows 7 and saw the missing configuration settings.

I purchased an QC804 and 4 1.2mg (720p) IP cams from Costco. So far I'm not impressed. While the pictures are better - the night time pictures tend to be too white. I have one day-time picture that is too pink and had one bad network cable. These cameras are certainly better for distance shots (6mm), but you can't get much clarity if you have to do a digital zoom. Everyone has been saying how great they are, but for the money I would say hang onto a great standard system until some firmware update are available. One other strange problem I'm having .... I setup email notifications for motion. The system will send 4-5 emails from cameras after each reboot, but then stop sending them. I have no idea what is wrong. Maybe there is a setting that restricts how many emails are sent before it takes a break?

Not sure I understand. Are you saying that vitamin D can work somehow, or I can't do anything because of my equipment. -
I'm using a Q-See QC444 DVR (BIOS 2.606.QS00.0, Build:2011-9-1) which works fine for most applications. I'm hoping someone can help me with one annoying issue. In order to use the browser search feature, I have to click the search button in the control panel which pops up a search box. Every time I click on an activity to view it the search box goes away. After watching the activity, I have to click the search button again and choose the next activity. This can be annoying if you have many activities to view. Is there a way to get the search box to stay up when watching an activity? I have a large screen and can many both at the same time.

I've noticed when logging onto my QC444 DVR there is a button at the bottom of the remote viewing screen that says HD. The button has an option for high picture quality and low picture quality. The system seems to default to low and I have the change it each time to high. Anyone know if there is a way to set the default to high picture quality? Shawn

Any ideas? -
I have my DVR setup to email on motion during certain periods. Unfortunately the DVR takes a snapshot too early (when some is just starting to enter the area). How can I delay the snapshot a second or two? I noticed in the manual a feature on the setup screen called Snapshot Frequency, but this isn't an option on the Web Configuration screens.

I currently have the Q-See QC444 and thinking about an upgrade to the QT454. I like the idea of D1 at 30fps on all 4 channels. Does anyone have experience with this DVR. Can anyone tell me if 3.1.83 is the latest firmware available?
-
I agree that the playback (recording) of the video was quite good on the unit I tested. The problem was with live video. Seems chopping and not as clear as recordings.

Since I wrote the original posting, I tried the QT454. I found out that it's not a Dahua DVR, but instead made by TVT. While it had many of the same features, I didn't like it as much as the Q-See QC444 (dahua). Interestingly there was not a way from the network browser to reset the DVR or reboot it. The live playback was slow and choppy, even on a gigabit LAN.

I have a QC444 and use the web interface to configure all settings. When I attempt to adjust the motion detection feature the screen is full of blue blocks, but I can't see any video picture to setup a motion area. I can only change the color of the blocks from light blue to dark blue by clicking on the blocks. Is this right? Should I be able to actually see a camera to adjust the detection field.

Q-See QC444 DVR Motion Detection Setup
shaywood replied to shaywood's topic in Digital Video Recorders
While we're on the subject of this DVR and firmware. Is it possible to create a longer password? I seem to recall that this DVR (QC444) won't allow passwords longer than about 5 characters. -

If I update the firmware do I have to manually enter all the settings, or can I just import a backup file? -

Ok. I thought that might be the case. Thanks! -
I'm currently using a Q-See QC444 DVR with 4 standard type cameras (700tvl, Day/night). The QC444 has all the features I need like remote access, email, record scheduling, ect. But, I would like a DVR that can produce a better picture (larger resolution, bitrate, etc). The QC444 has only D1 (30fps) on one channel. Does anyone have recommendations for a better home DVR that is reasonably priced - say $200-$400? Shawn

I wish I had a dollar for every post where folks are asking about the best camera for a home security system. I've read through so many posts, but I still have the same question! I have a normal home security camera system and want a great all purpose day/night camera that will produce amazing footage - better than the crap sold with most cheap systems. But, which one do I buy?

I noticed there is a firmware update for my Q-See QC444 DVR. The instructions say that my custom setting will be erased and have to be re-entered. Does anyone know since I have downloaded a backup copy of my config settings - would I simply be able to restore my settings after the firmware update? I would really not enjoy re-entering all the custom settings already in the DVR. http://www.q-see.com/products/security-product.php?ProductId=283 Shawn

Thanks, my current Bios is v. 2.606.QS00.0 - 20100622 the latest on Q-See's site is 2.606 - 20110301 . Do you think this is the same version even though the dates are different?
