Q-See QC444 DVR ActiveX won't work right with IE 9
shaywood posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
I have used the Active-x web interface to control me QC444 DVR since buying it some time ago. I upgraded a couple of PC's to IE9 and the Active-X doesn't display correctly. Anyone else run into this? Any sugguestions? -
Don't know. I"m not that much of an expert.

Hello everyone, I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure out a way to embed live video from my QC444 DVR into a secure web page. I have previously done this with other DVR's, but I'm not sure how to with this one. Any ideas?

Hello, thanks for the words of inspiration. Like so many, I'm looking for a great outdoor camera that is 3.6 to 6.0, day/night, and high resolution. I currently use a QC444 DVR that is capable of full D1 (at least on one channel). The cameras that I have used in the past have been of the Q-See, Lorex type that produce decent pictures, but nothing that is exceptational. Don't get me wrong, i'm not made of money, but I have to believe there is something affordable that is of higher quality than a run-of-the-mill camera. The problem is - cameras are a dime-a-dozen with specs that look great. All made in China, or Asia, with instructions written in broken english. You bring up a good point. Maybe folks should focus on great dealers, rather than cameras.

Q-See QC444 DVR Consumer's Mini-Review
shaywood replied to Toaster's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I was only using ch4 as an example. It doesnt matter which channel you are using. I would like to record 24/7, but mark or log motion for search purposes. Setting up motion detection is easy enough, as you mentioned about the manual. The motion detection period option is great, however you can not choose to email snapshots during one period of the day and not another. It all or none. So in my case since I want emails sent over night, I created a motion detection period for over night. But, because I don't want emails every time there is motion during the day, I can't setup motion detection during the day for the same channel because the email snapshot option can't be changed for each period. I'm stuck manually searching for things during the day. I hope this makes sense. -

Toaster, why did you switch to the QT428. Does it offer more than the QC444? -
Q-See QC444 DVR Consumer's Mini-Review
shaywood replied to Toaster's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Thanks Toaster, I was able to set up everything (including the port forwarding), EXCEPT this.... * I have four channels which I want to RECORD 24 hrs/ day and TRACK Motion Detection (for searches) * On Channel 4 I want to also email on Motion Detection during overnight hours. On this DVR it appears that I can only email all hours, or no hours on channel 4. -
Q-See QC444 DVR Consumer's Mini-Review

I purchased a QC444 DVR from Fry's about a month ago. For the price it can't be beat. I actually was able to replace a Geovision GV800 PC card with this DVR. The DVR has many features not found in low end DVRs. It can do most everything a home or small business owners needs. The manual is better than most, but the DVR will require some setup time. I contactedTech Support a couple of times with mixed results. The first time I emailed them and they actually called me. The second time I called them, but they didn't seem too excited about helping. I was able to figure things out though. Simply put - for the money, this DVR is hard to beat! -
Geovision DVR Case - Suggestions
shaywood posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I would like to install my Geovision GV800 card in a small DVR case. Any suggestions? I would like the small footprint available - similar to other security system dvr's. -
What setting to I use to limit the amout of hard drive space used for video storage?
-
As a follow-up to my Window 7 problems.... I had purchased a new Dell Inspiron i3 Core PC and installed my existing GV800. I could never get it to work right using either 64 bit OS or 32 bit. The live and recorded video was always choppy. I went to my local Frys Electronics and built a small HTPC. The same card in this computer works just fine. I'm not sure what it was about the Dell PC, but the GV800 simply wouldn't work right. Just FYI.
-
I would rather not add an additional HD. This setup is in a small HTPC, so space is quite limited. I purchased a single HD large enought to ensure it could handle all my needs - just forgot to partition it separately in the begining.
-
How can I create a partitionon an existing drive.
-
Correct. I share a 750gb hard drive. I would like to limit the video storage space to 300gb.

Is there special instructions for installing Geovision on a win 7 64 bit system? I used my GV800 card and 8.3.3 software just fine on a win 7 32 bit system. Now that I upgraded my system (new computer) to win 7 64 bit, I'm having problems with multicam. My live pictures are choppy and viewing recorded is the same. I also get numerous frozen pictures while viewing live video and frequent BSOD. It sounds like some folks are getting it to work. Is it possible to run geovision on virtualbox using xp, vista or win 7 32 bit inside win 7 64 bit? Geovision: GV800 card Software 8.3.4 Computer: Dell inspiron i3 core quad 8 gis of ram win 7 64bit 512 Nvidia Geforce G310

For some reason my live view of cameras is choppy. Any idea what settings I could change to improve the live view? System: GV800 ver. 8.3.3 i3core desktop ASUS 4350 Radeon 512mb 6gb RAM

This is a brand new system running win 7 64bit. I was previously running this on a different system without problems. Most annoying problem is the pictures freezing becuase I can't tell unless I check the recording and notice the screen is stuck on one or two pictures (I don't get a video loss message).
-
Thanks. Recording playback looks exactly like the live video. I did try it with and without the ATI Radeon card - looks the same. I'm running Windows 7. This morning 2 of the 4 pictures are frozen on the GV800 display. They aren't recording either (and no video loss, just a blue screen). Restarted the multicam and all pictures are back.
-
Thanks for the advice. I'm only running 4 cams on the card. I previously had the card in an older computer and the live view was smooth. Not sure what is going on.
-
I found the setting you mentioned in the configure screen for the Remote Viewlog App and changed it. However, the clips continue to auto-repeat on the Event List Query and Remote Playback - via the Webcam server (viewing online). Might there be a setting in the Main GV-800 Multicam surveillance system?

If I recall correctly, prior to v8.3.3 - when I clicked on an item in a list to view - it would play the item, then automatically move to the next item and play it and so on. This was nice for reviewing motion incidents over a several hour time period. Now, when I click on an incident to view it, the system simply replays the same incident over and over. I have to click on the next one to see it. Is there a way to change this option and have the system continue onto the next incident automatically? Shawn

I recently had to reload my computer which uses geovision v8.3.3. The email setup worked just fine before the reload. I used the same email settings, but now when I try to "test" the account -I get the following error. I had a copy of the previous settings, so I know the email settings are correct. Are there settings somewhere else that I need to check? Error message when sending test email, "Can't connect to SMTP server! Please recheck your E-Mail setting or internet connection! ".

Thank you for the replay. I had the wrong port number for SMTP. Needed to be 587 instead of 25. I think my ISP stopped allowing 25, becuase it worked before. Not sure. Thanks! shawn

Question for people using Windows 7 and Geovision 8.3+... I have installed Win 7 on a system using GV800, but I can't seem to log in and view the cameras using WebCam. Is this working for you? When I attempt to access my system remotely, I go to the Webcam log-in screen, enter the username/password. The screen then refreshes and I get a Timed-out error. Everything else seems fine. No other errors or lost data with the upgrade from Vista.
