We don't buy cheap... we just make sure there is accountability to whomever carries the tools. I've had some bad luck with Dewalt here recently... I'm on to Rigid. Supposedly lifetime warranty, even on batteries. We'll see about that when I break it. I'm pretty tough on tools though. Ever forget a mallet and use a battery pack? -
Oh my!!! *gasp* I know it... I still use a small handful of CNBs... but meh... I am SO over the VBM-24VFs. lol
-
what I meant by secret is that they are made by a large manufacturer in Korea, but they are branded a couple dozen different ways in the US... they also are priced a couple dozen different ways. I've tested countless products... I only install/ sell what I like. I don't care for the VBM-24VFs anymore. I used to, but today I'm on to something better. Better picture, easier to install, more featuers, better dynamic range, better in low light, blah blah... Who knows, I may find something better tomorrow?? I never stop looking.... Most of my overhead is r&d.

JPEG2000 Compression - Anyone other then avigilon?
bpzle replied to dmiller9's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
What isn't? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissism On behalf of Mike, and the other countless respectable regulars: We are only here to help. We have a head start on the industry compared to most and we enjoy helping others. By helping others, we help ourselves. It helps keep us sharp. We realize a technological savvy is not something specific to our field. We recognize the value of real world experience. What do you do for a living Mr. Quantum? I have zero doubts there's many among us that couldn't do it, or even do it better; regardless of education. A much wiser man than myself said, "There isn't a man alive who doesn't know something you don't." If you can't respect other's experience, why should we respect yours? If you wish to continue with this mindset, I advise you figure out the rest of your CCTV adventure entirely on your own. In Texas we have a saying, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." This place is obviously "beneath you" anyway so if you have any dignity remaining, why bother being here? -
I didn't think the rez was that good that you see inside the housing... I figured it might be somethin special seeing how it's job is to keep the president secure... looks like an exlposion proof houing. No? I've only worked with dome ptzs...

Not that I've found. Many VMS solutions can lower the overall quality of the remote stream, but I've never seen one that will automatically adjust for screen size, and be able to crop out the rest of the live or archived feed when you digitally zoom in... What gets pushed out down the pipe is only what you want to see, nothing more. Simply brilliant. With most VMS solutions, once you start talking about viewing more than just a couple MP cams at full rez it will cripple even the very best internet upload connection. -
IR watching another IR camera - Motion Detection >>
bpzle replied to platinum's topic in Security Cameras
Nothing to worry about as IR is all around us at all time. I understand. However, it's not artificial and we at least get breaks from it at night. Everything in moderation! -
I want to know more about this bad boy:

I have a young kid... and I choose not to have IR cams staring at them all night. I don't think enough studies have been done analyzing the long term effects of IR exposure. -
bump for better pricing. $290 plus shipping

Licence Plate Cam: Please Critique This Approach
bpzle replied to dvarapala's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
As long as you have enough pixels on target and you have enough lighting to contrast/ reflect the LPs you'll be fine. Don't count on the picture being useable for anything else other than plates. Your shutter speed will need to be crazy fast... Let me know if you get a working prototype of ANLPR/ OCR software. We'll go in biz together and make millions! -
Rory, Is that a MP I see you have in test?! When did you get one? Which one is it?!
-
Bigger sensors see more pixels, as a general rule. Just like with ccd cctv cams, quality of the sensor and dsp makes a huge difference in picture quality and low light sensativity. I think its only a matter of time before supply catches up to demand... meaning, good MP cams become cheap enough to be utilized by everyone, everywhere. I'm already personally witnessing this, nearly on a weekly basis when manufacturers keep cranking out cheaper and better MP cams. Every make/ model of MP cams I see is getting closer and closer to bridging the cost gap between analog. I think D1's days are numbered.... What do you think?

LOL! Sounds like you're having a bad week....Been there, done that. Do you mind PMing me with how much you paid for the M12? Thanks!

I've got a Sony HD camcorder... it records in a .mts format. To the best of my knowledge, to edit these files for home movie making...these files need to be formatted to something different in order to be used in the popular video editing suites like Vegas or Premier. I have a ton of clips over the past year of the kiddo and just don't have a lot of time for painful conversions or learning something new... I have some pro audio/ video editing experience but that was almost 10 years ago. Even if I could remember all of what I learned way back then, things have changed. I found this: http://www.avs4you.com/Register.aspx?sct=aff&ct=regnow&cid=84996 Only $60. Anyone used it? Maybe you could recommend something better? I just want something basic, stable, and hopefully under $100 . I want to compile maybe 20 hours of video into a maybe 15 minute "best of" movie. Fades/ wipes, character generation, voice overs, music tracks... just a making a typical home movies is what I'm after. Thanks!
-
Core 2 Duo 5400 I believe??? You don't have to test anything... that's too nice.
-
Back in the day Premier was the bee's knees... learning curve was steep though. I was a pretty good with it, I just really don't have the time to learn all over again. I work roughly 100 hours a week...
-
Thanks Adam! How much of a PITA is it to convert all of that? I have around 20 hours of raw video...hundreds of clips. Should I be worried? I was hoping for something that could edit in native format, but I wouldn't care if the conversion was painless.
