Best wireless security camera for around $500?
bpzle replied to Someone10101's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The camera you choose must be compatible with your NVR.... Also, wireless cameras sound neat but are usually a poor choice. -

Who said that??

I didn't know what to think... that's why I asked.

Paul, May I ask why a customer would need you in the equation if you are selling/ installing Swann grade equipment? Can't they just pick up that stuff from Woolworths and install it in a weekend themselves? I'm curious why a professional would want to be associated with that garbage... Maybe you see a benefit I don't?

Care if I again ask what's the application? You seem to have it all figured out, but I'm just curious...

AVerMedia AVer nv3000 or Geovision - GV800?

If you buy based on spec sheets alone, try ebay.com. You'll get the cheapest stuff! I guarantee it! However, I choose to look for things other than spec sheets... Tech support? Software layout and ease of use? Reliability? Compatibility? Ease of evidence sharing (aka forwarding footage to others)? Amount of training required? Warranty? -

Unless it's educational, or recreational... time is money. If you ain't doing what you love, you should be doing to support what you love. I know you get that Kenny, but it needs to be said for any future readers. A caution, if you will to the uneducated consumers. Sure, the argument could easily be made "it only cost $15." Ok, so how much is YOUR time worth? viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23923&start=0 -
So when one gets too drunk to fish, the solution is to just watch others! Got it! I did some Kayak fishing in a bay near Destin, FL last summer... that was awesome! Caught some sort of bass I believe. (I'm no pro)

Lol! I never said I didn't like to fish... I just can't ever see myself sitting on the couch, drinking a beer, gettin all excited, yellin at the tv for some ol boy that got 'em a big-un.

Kenny, We've spoke off the forum before... Do you remember? I am, and will always be here to help. Ask any of my customers if you'd like. I think the point that ak is trying to make, is you are not the first one to be screwed out money on ebay. And Soundy, is not the first professional to offer FREE assitance to a competitors customer. Yes, ebay sellers are competitors. Who wins? In my opinion its not the customer. It's not the kind professional trying to lead you to better solututions, or even to "bandaid" the ones you're already stuck with... The only person who "wins" is that sleezy ebay seller. They offer zero support, sell loads of volume of JUNK, and when someting goes wrong, the customer looks for internet forums for help. We've seen this time and time again... Believe us, it's not you that we are frustrated with. -
What about the respect for people who do this for a living? What do you do? I bet you have a lot more experience in whatever it is than I do. We're only trying to help... Research and Google only can get one so far. I like to share my experience for the common good. With in reason, of course. I don't want to eduate others out of my own job and passion.

Did you try conacting the ebay seller? -
WDR and I second the Panasonic recommendation for what you're trying to do... To date, I have not seen better.

Limiting your camera selection to a freeware VMS compatability doesn't sound like a good idea to me... Especially with a camera in the $1500 (msrp) range. Also, don't expect great, up to date things from an IP camera's interface. Use decent VMS software to view that camera on nearly any device you want. Leave the camera making to the camera makers and the software making to the software makers. Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.
