    Look familiar?

The client says "connection failed." The OS on both PCs Vista. I tried running IE as "administrator." I've seen with some DVRs you have to do that... IE is the latest. Can't remember the exact version...

    Look familiar?

It's static. I went through all the GUI stuff on the actual unit and made sure it was enabled to allow network access. I have seen some DVRs that this feature comes disabled (Aver) but I didn't find anything that would indicate it was a DVR settings issue. What do you mean by "manually download active x"? I did try deleting it and reinstalling it again... No luck. But also, I tried with the client software...
  3. Ya.... none of this makes sense.

  5. Oh... just saw your original comments on the pic. Not a fair comparison! Have something a little more objective?
  6. SO enough with accusations and assumptions. What actually happened? Why is it that I suspect there's more to the story? What's so complicated about buying cameras online and them never sending out the product? Why did YOU send them to KT&C? I have every CC imaginable... If I paid for products I never received I can easily dispute. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to defend sleazy online internet stores... but there's holes in your story buddy.

Audio Problem on an NV3000 with Auxiliary Extension Card

Did you call Aver's tech support yet?
  8. Are you sure that factory lens wasn't just out of place? Looks a little too soft compared to the ones I've installed...

    CCTV FACTORY / CMC TECH

Pity.... We see this not just in online sales but local installers as well. I don't understand how people who invest tons of cash in a business and mistreats the people who keep it going. Oh well. Just makes us professionals look better and our customers appreciate us more.

    Microphone input

Out of the hundreds of DVRs I've personally installed... I can only remember one make/ model that had direct microphone inputs without the need for a separate preamp. Welcome to the world of CCTV. One of the many hard lessons DIYers have to learn.

    Anyone used the CNB V2760NIR

Ahhh... Then we might have used that one a few weeks back... I'll have to check my invoices and see if it is.
  13. Cheapest isn't the only thing to consider when choosing a supplier. Just look around at other threads on this forum for horror stories of people burned by buying from the cheapest online stores. Easy to find... These places are usually the cheapest for a reason. 1. Do they have the items in stock? 2. What is their return policey? 3. Do they have a technical support department? 4. Can you get ahold of this company and talk to a real live person? 5. How quickly does tech support return your calls? 6. Are they selling refurb items or new? 7. Will you get exactly what you ordered? 8. How quickly will the order be processed and shipped? Look for reviews of other people who bought from the company, and not just on their website.
  14. Keep in mind your experience has been with crappy cameras... Good cameras will not need IR to compensate for poor low light performance like cheap junk cameras do. The majority of DIYers think they need IR, but they're usually wrong. What they NEED are good quality cameras.

    Anyone used the CNB V2760NIR

I've used the 1760 cube, I think it has the same sensor but for indoors and no IR. I think the one your talking about is designed as a backup camera for a vehicle. In which case it only needs to project maybe 15ft at the most and would also have reverse lights to help it.
  16. Interesting... That would be awesome to see the comparison
  17. What style and make/ model of lenses you using? I knew they were interchangeable but never payed attention or tried anything on the couple I've installed.
  18. Check your local electric supply house. And be careful messing with high voltage. It's akways best to hire an electrician if you are not comfortable and experienced with that type of work. Much different than low voltage cctv stuff...

    IP cameras and home network

Its not just a question of how many cameras and what codec. Resolution, bitrate, and FPS are just as relavent. Most IP camera manufacturers have "project planners" that have bandwidth calculators you can use. Of course, you have to take their word for it.... but at least its a starting point
  20. H.264 if done properly has its advantages and in my opinion CAN look just as good as mpeg4. However, in my opinion a sub $500 dvr just isn't going to have the processing power to compress good quality h.264 video. We've tested several "budget" DVRs from various manufacturers and have concluded that in low end DVRs MPEG4 is the way to go. There's lots of types of h.264 compression but a DVR must have some pretty beefy processing power to be able to compress decent quality video in this format. This of course raises the cost of the DVR and in our opinion, the best bang for the buck is to just buy more storage and go with an MPEG4 dvr. Thoughts? Opinions? What other types of marketing hype do you think end users should not be tricked by? Like "night vision" cameras, TVL, FPS, etc... What are some advertised specs you have found to be just sales tools that cloud over the real functions that people should be interested in?
