Image enhancement software
bpzle replied to Suprfknman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
What your thinking of is mostly Hollywood junk. Kinda like how all the high tech computers in movies always make lots and lots of subtle beeps... My personal favorite is when something big loads on the screen... its a like a tommy gun of beeps all at once! There isn't much out there like your thinking of... Bottom line, if the pixels aren't there, they just aren't. Your typical PhotoShop tricks are the best we've got, that I'm aware of. -
How do you locally record an IP PTZ at a remote location?

Recmmendation for PC-based DVR
bpzle replied to FuriousGeorge's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
3xLogic aka Vigil is pretty slick stuff from what I hear. But I wouldn't know personally... too expensive for my clientale. It's more of the "enterprise" stuff I mentioned. Not something the average homeowner or small biz can justify... Look at the Avermedia NV6480e card. It captures and records 16 channels of normal "analog" cameras but also comes with software to record from IP cameras. Hence the name "hybrid." You can record any combination of analog and IP cameras as long as the total # of cameras is less than 16. Probably more than you need, but always best to over spec in my opinion. The software is pretty slick and very well supported. Lots of alarming, FTP, NAS, SMTP, SMS and more options... Every now and then they have a glitch in the software but it's usually addressed in a timely fashion. To give you an example, I called and left them a message on the weekend about an issue. Monday they called me 3 times throughout the day trying to get ahold of me untill I could take the call. It was like I owed them money! lol Try that with Geovision or no name Asian cards. -

Easy killer! I think you may be a little too ambitious here... I wouldn't go out trying to re-invent the wheel just yet... I understand crappy hardware and software has left a bitter taste in your mouth, but that's no reason to give up. There is some pretty good stuff out there, you probably just havn't used it. Unless you want to spend the big bucks on an "enterprise solution", I'd bet Avermedia has something that will do everything you want or think you need and then some... -
Looking for someone in San Antonio to install....

I'll have to look up the specifics, but non-IP based PTZs usually have the following basic connections: -Power. Usually 24vAC -Communication. 2 wire in from controller, and sometimes 2 wire out for daisy chaining -Video out BNC -Sometime an Installers video out, can be RCA or BNC -Alarm/ relay NO/NC contacts. Not necessary for basic functions. Meant for advanced setups like "when this door opens, zoom into this preset zone and flash a red light" -

Call or email Aver. I've found them to be pretty helpful. Last week I called them and left a voice mail. They called me back 3 various times same day, until I finally could take the call. It was like I owed them money... lol It was actually quite nice to have someone take an interest in my problems...

Actually I wasn't kidding... She works from home and watches on her PC all the time, even at night. She's on the SMS contact list if the alarm goes off or a panic button is pushed. Quite the elite security detail, I know. lol

Maybe I just don't have the crazy hand strength you do Rory. Your hands must be ripped from all those.... uhhh.... posts... 15 thousand something and counting? lol

I'd have to disagree Rory. Compression is all I use. I've not once had to go back to fix a compression fitting. But I've seen way too many fail points over the years with twist and crimp ons. As a matter of fact, if I ever see twist ons in the field I just go ahead and cut them off regardless if they're working or not. I just don't want to get blamed for something I know will fail eventually, maybe even 5 minutes after I leave. They just fail over time from wiggling. It would only be worse in a car... Imagine having a CATV guy come to your house and breaking out some RG6 twist ons! hahaha I'd kick him out. Twist ons only have one purpose IMO... They're for DIY'ers that need or want to save money and don't need to invest in the tools for a one time use. Think about it... its a device that's attached and secured using nothing but hand strength. I don't hand tighten anything. Why would I for critical security connections?

In most cases, a circuit is shared by multiple outlets. Meaning, if you were to turn the breaker off you would turn off multiple outlets/ devices. -

So you did have electrical issues? Weird... Maybe the circuit you were using was shared by something else like a fridge or the HVAC? So these cameras came with 60' of cable already attached? That's no fun. I would be concerned with the quality... It may be possible that cheap attached cable ran parallel with some power wires and picked up noise. That could explain why the noise disappeared after moving the DVR.... -

ebay customers getting help ! good all my customers will get your ph number and I will supply lots of good info about DVR I love idea Do you ? and if you don't like idea Why not ? Is there difference between my customers and Ebay ? I'm not sure if I understand...
-
Should have mentioned it was going in a car to start with... There's going to be a lot more issues at play in a car... how are you powering the DVR and cameras? Is the DVR designed for automotive use? Does this signal problem happen with or without the car running, or both? Cheap cable ran next to other wires in a car will definetly pick up noise. It's also possible that the noise isn't coming from the cable at all but the power source. DC/ AC inverters tend to create pretty dirty signals... It may just be that jiggling the cables isn't related to the real problem... Kinda like touching a radio antenna when it's tuned into a weak signal. You'll notice that you seem to be interfering with the signal...

Ebay?! Yikes! Hate to burst that bubble... but you probably way over payed. Any who... we can't help without knowing the make/ model. I'm sure it's re-branded but someone will probably recognize it.

Yes, Nuuo has a browser based remote client. Requires Active X, admin rights, and a login though... probably NOT what your looking for.
