Looking for video, audio switcher or PC based multi ch
bpzle replied to scorpion's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
This is for component... but I bet the contacts are dry and could be used for standard composite... http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-40697-Component-Selector/dp/B000S1CEQ4/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1264954442&sr=1-20 -
I just realized I never asked what you were trying to send... I assumed it was a simple event notification with JPEG/ BMP image thumbnail. Is this what your trying to get? But judging by the email you forwarded... I'd be inclined to say that the Outlook or your email service is filtering out something it thinks is spam or a virus. Try sending it to another Gmail account and use the web browser to view the email. Also, here's another trick that will work on many phones. Use this to use your SMTP server to send SMS messages. Pictures can also be sent this way, depending on the carrier. http://www.topbits.com/how-to-send-text-messages-free.html

PM scorpion. He's the AvTech wiz... Sometimes DVR manufacturers will call SSL other things. (Usually cheap Asian junk.) I think I've seen "security", "encrytion", "authentication". something like that... Anything similar in the menu?
-
I'm not familiar with that DVR, but maybe someone is... Most DVRs come with a video player and/or viewer that can pause and save a jpeg or bmp image.

Did they say what the benefit of this was?

What's the model of your projector? IF your projector is designed to take a component in, via the VGA port than this will work. http://www.amazon.com/Female-Double-Shielded-Component-Adaptor-Computer/dp/B000I21Y9G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1264740661&sr=8-2 If it is not, then this will have to do: http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Ypbpr-Component-RGB-Converter/dp/B002SFT3ZI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1264740823&sr=1-3

Can you PM me a link? I can take a look at your settings and confirm that it is indeed setup to record audio. Swann is junk, but maybe we can get it working so you don't have to throw it in the trash where it belongs. lol

None of my suppliers carry that brand. What do they retail?

Having problem with Arecont vision support

Lol... that is ridiculous, but not surprising coming from Arecont. Even their rep companies are A holes. What's the problem? -

Time for a new ISP! That's BS. Anything else available? Can you get a LOS to your office? If you know what I mean... -
Seems odd it won't be recorded... who's to say the counselor isn't just making funny faces at the patient the entire time? lol Audio is probably going to play the biggest factor in monitoring... People don't talk every loudly in an interment setting, sharing intimate information. What's being said is going to be more important than any video... Also, who are you trying to conceal the presence of CCTV from? The patient, counselor, or both? That will also play a big part in the selection and placement of equipment...

can you post the footage?

Looking for video, audio switcher or PC based multi ch
bpzle replied to scorpion's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I'm confused... how many total cameras/ mics does the device need to switch? Is there already something there that is generating a quad screen? 4 camera (Quad) screen with audio from all 4 cameras VS. 1 camera/ audio independent and not apart of the 4? OR 4 camera (quad) screen with audio from all 4 cameras VS. 1 of the 4 cameras with audio -

Kind of hard to tell when we don't have the model number. What is it?

I haven't heard many server software compatible with a 64 bit OS of any kind. Much less one for Windows 7. Exacq it compatible with Windows 7, but it doesn't mention if 64 bit is supported. Usually though, we find/ build PC's to fit the server, not the other way around. I think that is going to limit your options... PC's are so cheap these days, why not just have a dedicated PC? I picked up a sweet Lenovo with Intel dual core, 4GB ram, and 320 HD for $299 at Fry's.

Hello! Welcome! Often time big suppliers (Anixter, ADI, Northern, etc) hold training seminars, but their usually skewed towards what ever manufacturer is hosting them. This forum helps out a lot. Lot of info on here and a lot of really intelligent helpful people. I'm not familiar with any formal classes at colleges or trade schools, as I haven't taken any... But a background in electronics and computers helps out A LOT. What will probably help you out most if your wanting to get in this field is to find someone with many years experience that is willing to let you work by their side. It's like most fields, you usually end up being the grunt gopher at first until your ready to walk on your own.
