Avermedia DVR standalone NEH1004HN vs SEB3104H
securityhombre posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
A part from price what main differences do the two models NEH1004HN, SEB3104H have with each other? The latter probably isn't going to have better firmware because I think it's disco'd? Thanks in advance -
looks like the new h.264 3 and 5mp will be 3-9mm for the time being. I'm guessing they are not pushing the higher zoom lens to give the 2mp a last hoorah for the time being. bleh!

Licensing Access Control & Intrusion Detection California
securityhombre posted a topic in General Access Control Discussion
I've been doing CCTV/IP with my Electrician who has C-10 and we have been wanting to get into installing Access Control/Intrusion. We need to get California Alarm Company Operator BSIS ACO ACQ License to operate. Any free/cost effective methods for education to passing this test. Also to clarify I don't think we would need this for any CCTV/IP, right? Thanks in advance! -

Need Help for setting up cameras to view on internet
securityhombre replied to manumah's topic in Security Cameras
Maybe ask him to do it for $25? If you can't afford that. I'd lookup Port Forwarding in the manual on Dlink's support manual. You would need to forward to the internal static IP of the DVR with the open port as TCP/IP. -
Try Photorec. It comes bundled with Testdisk. Make sure to thank me a thousand times after you get your data back! " title="Applause" />

the new cams are listed 3-9mm F1.2 remote focus lens...nothing about 5-85mm, f/1.6

what do you use to tune your cameras dvd player, etc?
securityhombre replied to acableconnection's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I think im going to grab a sony 8" portable dvd player and create a gnarly wrist strap for it. I cant figure spending 3 times as much for the features the archos has, with a 3" smaller screen. Anyone else wanna chime in before the purchase? I wouldnt mind using the 6hr portable player on trips as well. I heard bad things about phillips so I think sony is going to win it -

The service monitors that are rough and what not are like 250-300 bux. I'm thinking of getting a portable dvd player for input for tuning my cameras. I've seen phillips dvd players not working after a short while. Anyone else with more ideas on what they use in the field??????? -
That would be a lot of legwork scorpion. You listed a lot of opportunities. I think we can establish ourselves to represent the forum and do a media deal on cctv installations to get us in the door. They may have a problem with security breach with media showing their security setups. But it still might be a way in to check out the neato installations that have been done. Keep us posted on this, and I'm very interested to seeing if we have something to look forward to .

Do you have connections to see this in action? I think that would be a great structure to follow.

Who would be interested in a Mini Workshop in Florida?
securityhombre replied to scorpion's topic in Test Bench
If airfare was cheap without planning ahead or if I could teleport I could have made this weekend. I need to plan for the whole travel/vacay thing like you said previous. I'm down to cruise out to florida though. Florida summer, humid, hmmmmm. -
vacations are always nice. Towards the end of summer would work for me. We need some kind of structure on what we want to accomplish.

Scorpion posted a thread starting last year in the test bench section about having a meeting/training for the members on here. If we all volunteered our time or money, I'm sure we could put something together to get some better knowledge from each other. Let me know what you think.

securityhombre replied to scorpion's topic in Test Bench
I'd be open to volunteer my time trying to get distributors and manufacturers to sponsor the event with demos and possible prizes. Any hookups on travel arrangements for my time would also be handy. I'd like to see some covert type installations done with choke points and what not. I'd also like cold kegs like Rory suggested It's already 2009, when should we start planning -

Where can I find cheap Nuvico cameras?
securityhombre replied to EgbertSouses's topic in Security Cameras
EgbertSouses, I doubt the sites that offer those prices come with any warranty. Nuvico has a list of multiple sites that cannot provide warranty with their products. Beware ;D For a list of valid resellers go to http://nuvico.com/locate.htm -
thanks survtech for the clarification on the different types of baluns. makes perfect sense now. I appreciate the help!

Drivers for a "basic" DVR card Security cameras
securityhombre replied to JimmyD150155's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
look for the model numbers imprinted on the card- number and letter combinations. Try using a search engine for all possible variances on the card and see if you can find a match. Then you can try to find the right driver -
