  1. I have a client that wants a new CCTV system in his sonoco gas station. The station has an old building with an office and three bays and some 30 feet away there are <10 year old pumps with the awning. I figure that as long as I stay attached or in the old building for mounting camera I will not have to worry about explosion proofing anything. If I have to use cameras at the pumps then I would. Am I right in this and under what circumstances would I need other things and what they are. thanks in advance. jeff

    Vitek camera IR problems

I have a Vitek VTC-IRHCM1 http://www.vitekcctv.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=189 installed in my office, ceiling mounted. The ceiling is about 7 feet high and in a room that is well insulated. It is the same room as 3 of my computers including my CCTV Server. Anyway about one month after the first Vitek camera I mounted there the IR burnt to a crisp. The picture is fine but the IR are fried. So I took it back to the suppy house and got another one. Well when I opened the new box the camera lens cover was already fogged so I took it apart and cleaned it. Placed it in service and it worked great for about another month when I noticed it , the IRs, had died again. Before I take this one back I need an opinion as to whether it is the camera or some wierd thing going on. Jeff

  6. I would like to know the different ways you all set up your customers so that they can view or control their systems over the world wide internet? Also the specific steps necessary to make it work and the usual pit falls that you had to overcome.....ie: set up customer with seperate server thru linksys router with public static ip with vpn, had major problems getting public ip with cable co.

    Slow laptop

How fast does it run in SAFE mode--basic drivers only. You could also download Win patrol at http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,22728,00.asp I use this alot to see and kill unwanted tasks. If after doing either of these please repost results. OOHHHHH what about the CPU fan is it working , CPU excessive heat = slow computer, just like Thomas said. what percentage of CPU are you using no programs? ctrl+alt+del as you probably know.

    TV OUT Question

I have a 16 home camera system too. Thanks to Rory I used a 4db amplifier with 8 outputs which has a CCTV input, model Channel Vision Technology Product No.: CVT-2/8PIA-II which puts my output around 15 db or FCC max. I also used a modulator model Channel Vision Product #R-E1200, and a 1 x Channel Vision 3102-118 - Low Pass Filter - Channel 118+. Now I can see all my cameras via any of the 8 tv's in the house without starting up the computer(s) and logging into the client DVR software. Thanks Rory....The CCTV images are just as good as the monitor but a little cropped around the outter edges. A little less view but the benefit was termendous. Jeff PS fantastic TV signal now too, as my line in from the pole is about 400 feet.

  14. you could solder the ends and then create a "V" or "N" out of the end and insert it. you could solder the ends with a small ball of solder on the end. insert it and the ball will hold it in place. it might require a larger wire for proper securring. you might have to double fold the existing wire back on it's and then it should be soldered. Always remember to remove/ clean the ends after soldering as the paste can corrode the end by oxidation. don't forget to anchor the wire 6" or so from the termination point to create a strain relief.
  15. Rory your link had the comma in it so it didn't work. http://www.vbcode.com
