    worth it to repair cameras?

it would probably make sense for me to have my cameras repaired. panasonic cw484- controls damaged and not functional, camera works brand new extreme wz16- dead right out of the box used extreme wz16- used for about 6 months, dead used extreme wz 14- dead unfortunately, i do not think i can use the warranty on any of the above cameras as i purchased them through friends, etc and not a dealer. does anyone on here repair cameras or have any experience on what it typically costs to repair a camera? what is normally the part that dies first?

    worth it to repair cameras?

thanks guys, very helpful 2 of the cameras are very new, so if i repaired the problem, they would probably last me a while still, just not sure of the cost or person to do this. i dont think this is something i could diagnose and repair myself. i might just have to take to the local electronics repair shop and see what happens.

    design help

i am designing a camera system for a local gated community there requests are to have 2 license plate reader cams at each gate to view incoming and outgoing traffic the cameras will need to record, but not be viewed live there is not a location for inside storage of a DVR i would need to mount an enclosure to the gate with the DVR recorder inside or have the DVR built into each camera if there is an incident, they would go to the DVR or camera and pull the info with a thumb drive anyone have any ideas? and thanks as always

ge truvision line has some good cameras for the money and nice name recognition for the client nuvico also seems to have some well priced basic equipment for residential installs

    indoor cameras

just bought myself an 8 channel nuvico dvr after doing lots of research. i will be using this for my prsonal home system. i am using extreme wizkid bullet cams outside. i will also be installing 2 indoor cameras and would appreciate some users opinions. i keep the lights low inside my home during the day. i turn all of the lights off at night. i would like to use dome cameras instead of the look of bullets inside. ir may be necessary due to the lighting, but i would not prefer. want them to show color and good res. after reading through the posts, ganz seemed to come recommended? budget would be under $300 per cam. have any suggestions for this? thanks!

    heres a dumb question

so my search continues for an indoor camera that will stay in color mode if all the lights are out, then i am not concerned about viewing it i used a cheap GE truvision ir dome inside and something surprised me the GE did ir and color at the same time. the close parts of the image were black and white with the ir, but the back of the shot was in color as there was light present so heres the dumb question what do you call this feature? and who has this in their cameras?

    look at this

how do i re-terminate this? this is from a cut camera, and the part that separates the video and power was cut. i would have thought the yellow wire would have a solid copper core, but it doesnt?

    look at this

hard to get the detailed pic of the wire and everything else into the same shot its an older extreme wz-14 bullet camera this wire is the part between the camera and that splitter thingy that you find on most all camera wires. however, that splitter thingy part is no longer available. this wire is not like you would find after the splitter thingy, as that has a solid core yellow for bnc termination. this wire, does not have a solid core that i can find. any help? im sure i can terminate this somehow and not just junk the camera

thats a good read. the problem is where to put this DVR. it doesnt even need to be networked, but there is no where i can store this thing. both of these gates have no storage, outside of putting a dvr in an enclosure?

    Nuvico CB-SD21N-L vs. Nuvico CB-SD3895N-L

ty anything else you have noticed? i have seen some prices differ between the 2, trying to figure out if i need to steer more towards one than the other.
  23. Nuvico CB-SD21N-L vs. Nuvico CB-SD3895N-L the Nuvico CB-SD21N-L is supposed to be the replacement for the very well regarded Nuvico CB-SD3895N-L. has anyone had a chance to compare, or even use the newer Nuvico CB-SD3895N-L camera? thinking about getting a few of these to replace my outdoor extreme cameras.

    video loss

according to nuvico, the video loss icons just indicate that loss occurred at some point, which was probably when i was connecting and disconnecting everything as the video is still present i hit cancel and they do not pop back up, so looks like everything is good thanks guys
