    what is my camera doing

just hooked up my outdoor bullet camera with ir. at the time of day when it starts to get dark, the cam starting flickering back and forth between the color and ir. not sure why, dvr did indicate video loss when i first hooked up, but i did not see any problems until the flickering happened 6 hours later. any ideas? it is a long run.

    indoor cameras

thanks, i did see some good reviews on the ganz. so far, i have used a few cameras, and they all seem to switch on the ir before it is really necessary. i have only heard of a few cameras that actually allow you to control when the ir kicks in, or even shut it off completely. i have my outside cameras to cover my property pretty well, and a security system. i just wanted the inside cameras to view from work during the day. its not really that cool when you log in to see your dog in infrared/black and white. i might just use some good, low light, non-ir, indoor cameras.

    indoor cameras

i contacted nuvo via email, i got a response from someone who i bet doesnt speak english very well. i had asked if they had a dome camera with ir, that could have the ir switched off, or adjusted manually as to when to come on. basically, he said they did not have a model like this. i know samsung does have one that is adjustable. i might just go with one that has no ir period as i am really using this camera to log in from work and view the inside of my home. not that concerned about security, and i dont want it in black and white mode for this purpose. the nuvico domes do seem to perform well in low light. i think i will order one and try it out.

    what is my camera doing

thanks for the help thus far guys. i think i may have it figured out. the camera does fine until it needs to switch on the ir. i would imagine that the long power run works fine for the color day mode, but when the ir kicks on, it draws more power, and it is not enough to keep the ir powered up. i am going to try some more tests tonight. i will post my results.

    indoor cameras

i guess the main problem i am having is that i want the cameras to show in color in my living room. even when the lights are full on, the camera i am currently using does ir/black and white. when i trick it to stay color, it looks fine, but goes back to ir again. is there a camera out there that would stay color and not switch to ir so easily, and show well in low light. not looking for perfect detail, actually prefer the room in color over detail. im thinking nuvico again and maybe a dome with no ir?

    what is my camera doing

thanks for the help guys i think it would settle to ir if it was full night, its just at that time of the day where the switch takes place, and it cant seem to make up its mind. i do have an outdoor flood lamp pointing at the camera, could this be the problem? video or power runs being too long would not cause this correct?

    what is my camera doing

would it be power, the camera was working fine for 6 hours. it was exactly the time of day when the camera would change to ir. it just could not make up its mind and kept going back to color.

it will be completely dark at night, so i might need infrared, but there are some neat looking ir domes out there without the bubble any ideas?

  15. omg, there are only a million dvrs to choose from. heres the only 3 things that really matter for me: ability to do 4-8 cameras, 250gb-500gb best picture quality best quality viewing over the internet i am trying to stay around $1000 for this dvr. i have been looking into the nuvico line, but it is hard to find any reviews. please only recommend dvrs that have great picture quality viewing online, as that is what i will use this the most for. thanks for the help. i have been lurking here for a while, and figured it was time to make a post, as i am ready to purchase a system now.
