its a lot easier to KIS when you know what youre doing or if money is not a problem, neither would fit me so.. I ll order a 500ft spool i guess. Ill be reading some more.. if anybody has tips about decreasing glare other than turning off the lights.. all tips are greatly appreciated and many thanks to the people on this site for sharing the expertise for free. this is good while it lasts.. nothing stays free forever..(well I pay monthly for internet access) oh I use a computer monitor for a display ( an old supervga that was priorly collecting dust in the garage)

I am trying to change my wires for a four camera retail area cctv setup. I am considering to get 4g59/u minicoax 25awg copper braid95% from penn wire. I dont know if I should keep my current wires(cheap siamese cable power and video I bought 100ft for 25bucks) for the power line and change the video connection or should i throw out the old cables all together? Ive got a nubix 4 channel dvr I am also considering to have motion detection, is it easy to connect ? I have read posts about cat 5 and Ive got a headache from all the technical jargon involved with instillation and controling the pan tilt .... should I just connect my four cameras and be happy??

I will try all the suggestions, i ve already tried with RG59 cable with (aluminum mesh ) using radioshack BNC adapters (the screw on types) the picture looks abit crisp but was a bit messy I think I havent cut the cable the right length as on the instructions for the BNC adapters.. I havent got a chance to check the rest will post my results

thanks for the tip, I think that being a novice and not knowing what im doing, I might have contributed to the bad quality image using all 100ft of the cable wrapped in a loop afters its ran to each prospective camera. im wondering if the way the cable is ran affects the quality of the image.

I ve got a store with a nubex 4 channel 120gb hrdrive dvr with 2 eclipse 596 bullet cameras and a Pelco ICS090 black and white camera. I used 100ft coaxle power/bnc cables. I am now trying to improve my images so that i can acually see useful information. The images is best with the pelco which has a 3.6 mm lense on it but i dont have crisp images. is it because of the cameras not getting enough power or is it the video line being too thin. (the cable has a very thin separation between the power and the video. I read several posts mentioning RG 59 or CAT cables will this improve my image quality or should I cut the power cables to reduce the distance to from the power to the cameras in cheap copper? please help!!

sorrry to post twice but Im a bit clearer with my problem, the cable looks like the one in the link below. I just need to splice the camera power to the one in cable , its like a coax but the wire is a bundle of fibers (theres a wire in the middle with coating and wire surrouding the outside which I think is ground and +?) I noticed from reading some posts that tape is not a good way to go. well other than soldering, is there a simple and effective way to connect these wires. and (ive read about adaptors or wire jacks?) http://www.mjelectronics.com/pages/videoaccessories/cable.html

sorry for taking so long to reply I only just managed to get around to connect this thing. any way I have a 100 ft siamese cable (I guess )power and video together, the power line is not split as red and black instead its a sheat insulated wire in the middle surrounded by the second wire which is coated by the outside insluation. I have reads several places that this is not a very good cable (too thin ) for the video side, anyway i need to know which part is negative and which part is positive for the power line so that I can connected to the power box. and any tips as far as splitting the video from the power for 4 cameras and connected the 4 power lines that lead to the power box? thanks

I bought some cameras and a power box (12vdc 4 output 2 amp) and need help installing. it requires a bit of electrical work. the box has four fuses with two screws connected to each fuse, there are two loose wires one white one black with the copper sticking out at the ends. there is a very technical instruction sticker in the inside of the box, it says to connect AC power mains marked "L" and "M", secure terminal marked "G" to ground.. I bought 50ft cables that has an adaptor and video line which plugs to the dvr and I understand that I should cut the adapter side split the wires and connect to the box. I dont know if im providing enough details here, the only electrical work ive done is changing a light switch and installing a ceiling light with a fan so Im not sure if this is too technicaly demanding. please help!

Actually I am buying from three different places on the net. I havent checked the warrantees yet (ive had a bad experience with internet buying but I have no choice with the budget Im working with and my location). Hopefully if I do it right my friend wants me to instal the same on in his store.

I read a lot of threads on this forum and some outside sites. I am ready to buy my cctv package (4 camera standalone dvr with two bullet indoor, dome and outdoor) Im the same guy with the samsclub special thread, you guys saved me from blowing a grand on it thanks, I am now just looking for tips on the small details ( the accessories ie , cables,voltage regulator do I need a cctv monitor or will a regular monitor do?) i read somewhere on this forum that I can get a modulator that will allow viewing the video signals on regular tvs? I am a bit excited about the challenge and possible trips to radioshack? or is it straight forward? any tips appreciated

Ive pasted the warranty below it costs 79 dollars. its very good but as you guys said the equipment is crap. i was going to pay 80bucks shipping with the samsclub kit, so i dont know what your shipping will be I talked to aguy in maryland he was saying if im spending about a thousand i might as well get somthing with blk/whit vcr based system so i told costco/sms club have these deals with dvrs he said go for it... any way i dont mind traveling any way inbetween nc and maryland. the problem is that i need to buy this like this week, at the latest next week and would i get the 3 year warranty whichcosts about 80 dollars with the sams club kit

im actually in two places, i alternate between washington dc and north carolina dont ask long story the store is in NC greensboro im semi computer savy ok depending on what you mean by savy just a little more info than installing plug and play hardware , i want that screen on the ceiling in addition to four visible cameras so, simplicity is very important because i wont be there all the time and have someone is close to completely clueless about computers whenim not there thanks guys
