Can I ceiling mount a P3344-VE?
MidwestSurveillance replied to voip-ninja's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hello All, The P33xx-VE will mount to ceiling or wall. With the -VE version, a metal back plate is included which will be the first piece you mount. The rest of the cam attaches to this back plate. One HUGE installation tip with the P33 cams is that the camera unit it self rotates clockwise, and counter clockwise to maintain a proper Horizontal Field of View. It doesn't move very easily, but it does adjust. Not sure why Axis doesn't document this. This might be the issue you're running into Mike_va. http://www.axis.com/files/manuals/ig_P334X-VE_P3367-VE_43215_en_1106.pdf The new LightFinder technology is found in the new 1mp P3364-VE. Although the P3367-VE utilizes the latest ARTPEC-4 chip, it is not marketed as having the LightFinder technology. Having superior Low Light performance in 5mp cam would be amazing but still unrealistic. The new P3364-V/VE's are in stock and shipping today. The coolest feature with the new P3364's beside the LightFinder is the fact that the 6mm version offers a 105° Horizontal Field of View. I should have my demo coming shortly. Teltonika Telemarketer is Relentless
MidwestSurveillance posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Just curious if anyone else is receiving repeated calls from a Lithuanian company called Teltonika. In the last month, we have received 5 calls from Irene at Teltonika, each time we have clearly stated we are not interested, and to stop calling. The last two calls, we have had to get uncomfortably stern as to get the point across. During those calls, Irene continues to laugh at our frustration and recently stated that in order for her to stop calling, we should buy their product, or become partners. Every call, her boss is conveniently not in the office. The harassment is all over testing a wireless camera they offer. They do not have US Distribution. The camera doesnt have H.264 nor is it ONVIF compliant while boasting an amazing VGA resolution. The SD card slot is its only feature that is fairly new to the market. If you have spent more than a week in the IP Industry, you know this isnt anything special whatsoever. Irene stated that the purpose of her calls was simply to conduct business. Maybe im wrong, but she is conducting business in an extremely poor manner. -
Best Option for a Decoder
MidwestSurveillance posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
We like to design systems with a mix of cameras that best suit the scene, and the budget of our customers, typically with a 3rd party VMS. Does anyone have a "goto" Decoder they like use in a situation like this? Axis has the P7701 but its limited to 1 video feed at once, no matrix like a client software would offer. Ive come across a GeoVision decoder, but cant tell if this unit, or all Decoders for that matter are proprietary. A client connection would be ideal, but not everyone has the funds for a separate PC for each monitor. Any and all suggestions is greatly appreciated!! -
Best Option for a Decoder

How could I forget about my invaluable Lithuanian Partners!! End goal is to display video from various IP cameras only. Looking for a decoder box that will pull that video from the network and offer a clean display onto a monitor, possibly in a matrix style. I would then want to replicate this for multiple monitors around a facility. Im going to take a look at the Vigil HD Viewer and see if it fits. I was hoping for a unit that would be separate from the NVR that would simply sit on the network and offer a small physical footprint. Maybe its the Purple Unicorn im after... Thanks again for your input!! -

Both excellent suggestions, especially the DDOS!!! I indeed told her I was recording the call, and that I was going to spread the word the best I can about their sales tactics. I guarantee that we will be getting a call this Friday. They are based out of Lithuania, so each call is long distance and calling them back to complain isnt worth the money. Its just a sign that a terrible product requires overly aggressive sales tactics, where quality products speak for themselves. If only I can find a way to pump some hardcore gangster rap into our phone system for hold music.....ah..wait. Ill take Soundy's advice and practice my Tom Mabe skills on her. -
Axis q6034-e vs p5534-e
MidwestSurveillance replied to drvcrash's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
One big thing to consider that sets the P and Q's apart is the Constant vs. Limited Guard Tour. The Q-Series is designed for "Constant" 24/7 movement typically initiated by a preset guard tour. The P-Series is built for a "Limited" guard tour where there are breaks between tours. Configuring your P-Series PTZ to run non-stop could void your warranty as well. This may not mean much to your application, but could mean thousands to others. http://www.axis.com/files/sales/3yr__warranty_video_37660_rev2.pdf -
MegaPixel IP Speed Dome with PoE and Auto Tracking????
MidwestSurveillance posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Has anyone seen or heard of a Megapixel IP Speed Dome with PoE and Auto Track capabilities. I know Axis, ACTi and some others are introducing new gear in a few days at ISC West but I have not heard of something with the above specs. The Axis 233D and Panasonic WV-NW484s gets close with the autotrack and IP Speed Dome but no Megapixel or PoE. Would be nice...... -

The HD Sony PTZ looked good at the show. Anyone know what that will MSRP for? Also I dont recall if Sony has autotrack in their analytics? -
Honest thoughts on ACTi cameras?
MidwestSurveillance replied to Bungle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
We have ACTi ACM-1231's and ACM-3401's out in the field and they have been very reliable and awesome to install with PoE. I would stay away from the free ACTi NVR software and go with a reputable mfr such as Luxriot, Milestone or OnSSI (acti free software is a pain to setup and review recordings). 1280x1024 quality is quite a change from analog D1. As for ACTi video demos there is a ftp site out there but I cannot post links yet (noob). We also deploy alot of Axis love them but not all customers will spring for the higher cost. It's hard to pass up ACTi ACM-1231 all in one outdoor bullet Megapixel, IR, PoE and audio inputs for under $550 bucks.
