ran the test last night.. after hooking up the american fibertek trans/recr - which we mistakenly hooked up backwards first - we were able to get a nice clear picture and able to control a spec iii over a 300ft run of multimode fiber thanks for all the advice.. next step is actually installing all 16 cameras, dvr, monitors etc -

showoff maybe i'm paranoid after having several bullets die last winter. if its outside i go with a high quality housing with a heater/blower. there are several domes that are rated for low temps which i would use but i bullets are the ones i would still stay away from

I have used Winsted in the past and like most of their stuff but it can be a bit pricey. Anyone found a good rack or control center system that they recommend?

Taken fron the spec sheet since my memory isnt that great going back 6mo to the show Up to 720 x 480 Recording Resolution Up to 480 Images Per Second (IPS) Recording Rate at 320 x 240 Resolution (NTSC) so it can record at 704x480, but at a very low frame rate 4CIF 90fps total and 5 per camera per the spec sheet ok as far as the gui goes.. i took a look at the main screen and i said to myself.. where do i go to do anything -- wayy to many buttons, layout is just too busy and i come from the software world where ive sold very technical enterprise software for 9yrs... maybe i was also not impressed because the guy that was showing me the system at the show didnt know anything and was having problem navigating.... im the furtherest thing from a pelco basher, i sell a lot of their cameras but the dvrs are very disappointing and way overpriced -

ok it looks like we will be doing fiber in all conduit that has 110/480vac right to the cameras its been a bit of a rollercoaster but i think fiber is the way to go after really exploring the options available we are doing a fiber test next thursday -
with a budget around 300/camera i would go with some nice d/n toshiba box cameras and put them in a housing with a heater and blower - dont go with a bullet or a dome because it wont last through the winters we have and u get colder than here in chicago... put motion dector lights on the key areas like doors in the back of your house, inside the garrage for sure, back yard.. you can look into IR from extreme cctv( http://www.extremecctv.com/ ) but i dont think u can buy any of their cams for under 300.. you might want to check with the wizkid http://www.wizkidoptotech.com/ but i have found with iR if ur arent spending the bigger bucks 500+ you really arent going to get a good camera rory is the master of the outdoor IR so im sure he'll offer some advice

Can "Civilians" buy directly from companies like P
griffonsystems replied to luxury1's topic in Security Cameras
i think they have mfg reps listed on their website. they sell through their channel not direct (i know there are stories of them taking bigger deals direct and cutting out their channel partners) but you will propably get a better price from an online dealer for the small quantity you're looking for. -
i have 9 cameras with one a ptz - spectra iii running from a second control/monitor area to the main head end room we just found out that the client has 2-3pair of fiber available for this communication - and i believe it is multimode but checking with client i was goign to run the 8 fixed on one fiber line and then the ptz on its own with a video/control trans/rec my dist is checking into mfgs but does anyonw have any warnings, advice, etc? thx

griffonsystems replied to griffonsystems's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
as you have seen from my other post it will be in fiber for a lot of the path but from the one control cetner to the camera locations it will be rg59 in conduit... they are checking into getting it in its own conduit -
its multimode distance is about 200ft cable condition is unknown but its not old so i would assume its good if there telco/it guy tells me it is my distro suggested aft - 8 channel fm video system 880c series and the m1600 series bi directional for the ptz video and data isolating that on its own piece of fiber and putting the other 8 on one commetns?

110v and 480vac are already in the conduit that is available in the ground from one building to the other... that is our only way to get the video from one building to the other -

parking lot call box integration with surveillance video
griffonsystems posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
i received a lead from a friend that led me to a parking facility that has outdated equipment that they would like someone to come and fix i am going onsite on friday but from my conversation today with the guy he said they had call box(stenaphone?) put in 5yrs ago with an analog sureveillance system where when the call box was activated the camera would zoom to that box - now he says that doesnt happen but he wasnt there in the beginning to ever see it working that way has anyone done any work with this type of system? any recommendations when i get there? -

K, i was hoping to get this done last weekend but it didnt happen.. i will try to see what i can do before the end of the month....you might even want to try and contact aventura and ask them if you can pilot one of the systems - thats what i did and they sent it to me free. -
