find out who put the elevator in - most of the time it is the same company that is maintaining it. find out from them if they put additional wires in the wire harness, they usually put a few utp (cat5, 3) cables that you can use to run your camera

compressed air - the cans that are sold in any computer store and windex
-
both are good cameras but then u also need a lens and a mount, might be easier just to go with a good dome - no lens or mount needed

i would use a 2.9mm high res dome for this aplication - check out pelco, panasonic, rainbow pelco and panasonic will run at least 200 but rainbow makes a good camera in the 150+ range

Access Control integration with PeopleSoft
griffonsystems posted a topic in General Access Control Discussion
I have a client that is looking for a AC system that will integrate with PeopleSoft so that when the employee is terminated through PeopleSoft the AC system recognizes this and kills there card. Has anyone seen this before? I would assume the ac database would query the PS database on a scheduled basis and if there were any differences it would delete the user or lock the user access. but sounds like a custom app to me any help would be great -

Levon, I do work with a distributor not direct and havent had any experiences like the one you are talking about thank god. I'm just sharing my experience and am glad you let me know about yours. All i want to do is design and install good products for my customers. I dont care who makes it as long as i get good support when it breaks, etc. -

I've been installing the Pelco ICS090 for 3yrs and havent had one issue with the camera. I think some people just enjoying slamming Pelco for reasons I don't know. -

griffonsystems replied to blowrabbit's topic in Security Cameras
I like the Pelco ICS090 smoked hi res dome, its 480res and i get it for well under 200 its also very easy to install and very light - no worries about it falling out of a ceeling tile install -
IR is the way to go and the Extreme line is the best in the industry. Rory can comment on his success with these cameras. Day/Nite camera will not work you would be better off going with a good b/w camera... ive learned from experience that you dont want to go with a cheap ir camera or a good low lux camera in a difficult lightening environment because you will kill yourself with return calls - i havent heard of anyone going with extreme cctv and being dissapointed with the results

How much Hard Drive space is needed for DVR?
griffonsystems replied to AMI's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
if you have 8 cameras running at 640x480 on motion then i would say make the D drive 250GB, that should give you 30days even with high activitity on the cameras with a MPEG4 system. if you are setting the cameras on constant recording then i would at least put in 500GB yeah definetly have the OS and the software installed on C but setup the database on D only so it doesnt accidently run over any important os files,etc.. it will also make the system more stable -
Aventura Technologies software and DVR
griffonsystems replied to dspruett's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Chance I doesnt make a h.264 compression card, or im not aware of it. Aventura uses Hikvision h.264 cards. i've tested the embedded unit from them and the card does D1 at 30fps/channel very well but the interface on the embedded was not that user friendly, they are continuing to develop the pc based system i use the mpeg4 hardware compression card from chance I with a software version that i believe is the best midrange(not able to do 30fps/channel at 704x480), stable system on the market... i am now looking for a comparable highend system for my casino clients -
Need Bullet Camera that doesn't expose cables
griffonsystems replied to calvis's topic in Security Cameras
why not do a mini smoked dome? for bullet i think provideo had a decent one that would achieve this. -
finally making a buy
griffonsystems replied to iggy's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
just realized i overlooked the fact that you are looking for dome exterior so the pelco i recommended is only an indoor. i dont know where you are installing but here in chicago, bullets and domes have a tough time making it through the winter.. for outdoor i usually go with toshibas d/n in a heater/blower outdoor housing -
finally making a buy
griffonsystems replied to iggy's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I've always had good success with Pelco's ICS090 CR3's HighRes smoked dome with a fixed 2.9mm lens. very easy to install and i havent had one break on me yet.. ive put them in hotels and hospitals and some industrial with good success in florescent light - the run me well under $200 good luck paul -
could use some ideas on an installation i am investigating - here's the baseline to get started with: Scrap yard - one office building, one shredder tower, one sorting building The headend will be in the office building and a duplicate monitoring station will be in the shred tower. 3 outdoor fixed cameras will be on the shred tower with 2 more PTZ and 2 outdoor fixed with be on the sorting building I won't have the option to run conduit and cable back to the headend from these 2 locations which are about 100yrds away from the office. Is RF my only option for the video and control? Thanks in advance for the help/advice pg
